So after a grad-school induced dry spell of writing no fic, I have written again (my last proper fic writing occurred December of 2018)!

And I re-emerge with Great Ace Attorney (Dai Gyakutan Saiban) Sherlock Holmes/Yujin Mikotoba because I love the games version of Holmes and his partner!

My Summer of Sherlock

Well, it'll run into a Fall and probably Winter of Sherlock as well.

Back in May, as my grad school career was winding down and there wasn't much interesting to watch on TV, I was taken by the whim to rewatch the Granada Holmes series, and I once again fell in the deep love that anyone will have witnessing the perfection that is Jeremy Brett.

Once I finished the TV watching I realized it has been a while since I read the Sherlock Holmes canon, so spent some time devouring the first two novels, The Adventures of-, Memoirs and Hound of the Baskervilles.

But just as I was about to start Return of- The video game The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles was finally released in North America and I dropped my reading to play this game and---

OMG MORE SHERLOCK HOLMES GOODNESS

Not only its own version of Sherlock Holmes (called Herlock Sholmes in the US because of weird copyright stuff apparently?) but it is RIDDLED with references to the canon, other characters, and gave us all the twisty turnings and subverting expectations that the Ace Attorney series is loved for.

So I am so OBSESSED with this version and his "Watson" which comes about in its own twisting turnings, expectation-defying. So obsessed that for the first time in years I am working on fic!

How can I not be with these dorky dancing deducing dads???

And now I'm back to the Holmes canon, starting back up with Return of- And after finishing the canon I will take some recommendations (mostly from @yourspookyginger) and give some pastiches a try.

tl;dr everything is Sherlock Holmes and nothing else matters
