Tintin remembers what comes after 15.

FUCKING HELL IT’S BACK FROM LAST YEAR

This literally gets reblogged every 15th of the month. It’s almost two years old. It’s beautiful.

listen up ya’ll this post is 6 years old now and you’re still reblogging it. every month. once a month, my notifications blow up for this one video, but only until the 16th. then the notes on this vid completely stop. it’s so eerily spot on and impressive how you just all collectively know what to do. if I’m not online, people irl still remind me that it’s the 15th. thank you for six surreal years of me wondering if I completely fucking lost it. here’s to the 15th

Ten years of celebrating the 15th, everyone

HAPPY 10 YEARS OF THE 15TH, EVERYONE. I CANT FUCKING BELIEVE THIS IS STILL HAPPENING.

Below the poll is a series of animal images labeled A through J. A is the least close to the birds we have today; J is the closest. If you encountered these animals in the wild, which would you call birds? If you pick a higher up option, then that means you consider all the below ones birds as well - so if you pick A, then BCDEFGHIJ are all birds. If you pick J, only J is a bird.

PLEASE REBLOG THIS SO IT CAN LEAVE PALAEOBLR. I NEED PEOPLE WHO DON'T RECOGNIZE THESE ANIMALS ON SIGHT TO VOTE.

I apologize to all of y'all with vision impairments for whom this poll is inaccessible. Alas, this is an experiment, and I cannot name the taxa. Thank you.

I would be happy with a train that took 500 hours to get from like London to Manchester if it had a nice carriage with compartments you can sit in with overhead luggage compartments and friendly windows over the doors where you open them manually rather than by those horrid buttons (always scare me because I get scared of them when I think I won’t be able to get out in time) and there is a dining cart or a tea cart where they don’t pretend to make “a selection of coffees, latte, cappuccino, americano” like they always say (in my world they make a selection of teas and then a good quality simple filter coffee) and the back of the train has a door where you can go and look out over the railing. And the train is a nice burgundy with cream siding where the windows are or maybe racing green with yellow accents. And it has a whistle that peep peeps when you go through a tunnel or whatever

Basically I want what Great Western Railway adverts promise but don’t deliver

The fees for this one day of travel would collectively add up to about £600 for each kid even with the reduced fee but my point still stands

people (mostly on twitter) are pissing me off so much with the "its reddit, who cares"

like, its not a social media, its a collection of forums, if you hate certain subs for their politics or opinions, dont visit those (you control the buttons you press or whatever)

meanwhile were about to lose so much information about niche hobbies and interests,

and these are the same people who were complaining last week that you cant find anything on google without adding "reddit" at the end,

are you fucking stupid, do you want to have to look through unrelated blogs and ai generated/pay walled quora answers everytime you need technical assistance or wanna talk about a hobby? is that what you want?

im this close to losing it

There's a reason why I use both Tumblr and Reddit.

Tumblr is great for in-jokes, community, etc. It's good for seeing what your buddies are into and reading derange 2am mutualposts and finding out what kind of brainrot is trendy right now.

Reddit is good for factual information. Reddit has a functional search, for one. Reddit is where I post a picture of my cactus and go "I think it's dead. How do I confirm?"

There's also regional subreddits that are invaluable if you're not American, because trying to find regional information (especially about local politics) on a platform like Tumblr if you're not American just never works. For all I know, it doesn't work even if you're American! And for non-political regional info like "how much should I expect to pay to rent X in Y area" or "is the landlord particularly bad in this place or is this just normal in this town" and "I'm celiac, where should I eat where they actually care about keeping things gluten-free" and "where the hell are they posting about roadworks, there's nothing telling me when they're ending". And yes, because I'm a gamer, I also go to Reddit for theorycrafting and optimising gameplay etc.

Tumblr is great but it does not work for any of those queries. It struggles with niche topics and specific details. It's hard to update posts with resources (whereas it's very easy to update a Reddit post - Tumblr can't reflect changes once a post is reblogged).

This site toppling the competition by opting to sell shoelaces instead of monetising their users must be one of the greatest examples of failing upwards in history

In the world of Bond Villain CEOs, the site run by Wile E. Coyote is king

hang on i have to jot down some thoughts on this meme a friend sent me

classes -businessman. wealth and contacts (incl. lawyers), but they're always out to screw you over -pop star. adoring fans will do anything for you, but you're held back by the wording of your contract -mascot. two sets of abilities for (un)costumed. one grants total anonymity, very forgettable. the other is a basic brute class powered up by cheering -retired sports coach. perfect technique (high dex) but no stamina (nova playstyle). experienced advice gives bonuses to others

premise i think it'd be an arena combat based game but with a lot of emphasis on what happens outside the ring too. the businessman would handle a lot of the contracts, politics, PR. coach is self-explanatory (maybe they can cause the other characters to have motivational flashbacks at any time?). pop star and mascot deal with major and minor stage combat respectively but (de)buff each other depending on how they do

mascot also does infiltration to provide the lowdown on upcoming opponents. this can then make it easier for the coach to give appropriate advice-based buffs. the businessman effectively wagers on the outcome

i feel like there should be a romance element too? so that you get the epic highs and lows of being betrayed by someone who turns out to be your nemesis' mascot. or when you draw your crush in the knockout stage

mechanics i’m imagining a short list of skills per character class. maybe 40 points total to be divided between players however they see fit (10 each by default). they put points into skills - each one is essentially a dice pool they can use to add to the handful of dice about to be rolled. d6s only, 5-6 is a success, but only until you hit the big leagues. then only 6s are a success, but you should’ve levelled up enough to have big handfuls of dice by then. it must be silly.

i think during the setup/pre-combat phase people take actions (reconnaissance/infiltrations, training, maybe romance) that increase the size of the Big Dice Pool that’d be used to fuel the combat. i like the idea that the businessman would commit money (and thus renown) to advertising, so that the players are gambling on the outcome of their fights. ideally everyone should feel like they’re gambling something on the fights, so they’re a big crescendo, but that means everyone would need some mechanic to gamble with. maybe encourage players to have their characters make vows/commitments? emotional wagers? could that work?

Thinking back to the good early days before my skin grew back when people could shake their heads at me and say "masks are a government conspiracy" and instead of navigating the bullshit like a normal person I could pull mine down and say "I have chemical burns on my face"
