heteros spend their whole lives calling everything they hate “gay” but now that actual gay ppl are using it as a fun harmless joke to describe things we enjoy it’s suddenly “not everything’s gay guys geez!!1!1!!11!” thats cool

Existing as a lesbian is traumatizing. There are a million and one heteropatriarchal manifestations of violence towards us that are normalized. Men are encouraged to pursue lesbians, to consume us, to rape, and “fix” us. Men fantasize about dominating and controlling lesbians. They see lesbians as women that need breaking, women that need to be possessed, remolded as heterosexual, and assimilated back into the patriarchy. This idea saturates every form of media, whether subconsciously or explicitly. Men absorb this and extract violence, lesbians absorb this and learn to fear. We exist knowing that there are consequences for our existence. And despite these consequences, we exist. We exist knowing oppressive forces don’t want us to. Lesbianism is about survival and endurance, and we endure.
