Fort Boyard

Taking nearly 50 years to the build, this French fortification/concrete island was no easy project. By the time the French military was done building it in 1857, however, advancements in gun technology had made its military and tactical advantages obsolete. Yes, you guessed it…it was then turned into a prison.

It is a tradition that, in older times, people married or renewed their wedding contracts by joining hands through this Stone of Accord located in Ireland.

4:03 by Hunter

It was 4:03 in the morning and I woke up screaming. It was my dream. In my dream, I watched everyone I ever knew or loved be killed by the creature. It had a short fat body, and long slender arms, which ended with claws that looked more like swords than claws. Its eyes were slits that glowed red in the darkness, and its teeth were long like horns, and sharp like steak knives.

Tereszka who grew up in a concentration camp was asked to draw “home” and what she drew was scribbles. It shows how the horrors of the concentration camp warped her mind. This photograph was taken by David Seymour in 1948.
