do you feel like words (especially written) come less easy to you when you haven't been reading for a while? as though read things are fuel for written things and you've run out of fuel cuz you haven't been reading things

Hmm yes and no. The words come equally easily whether I have read or not, but the thoughts and ideas these words frame might be lacking if you do not read enough (which is also why I’ve been making time to read more in the past year or so).

I think reading things help lend new perspectives to old situations as well as introduce new situations I (as the reader) experience vicariously. As such,  writing comes less easily when one’s mind hasn’t been actively contemplating or processing happenings, of which both the process of contemplation/ processing/ reflection/ etc., and the happenings themselves are encouraged and enriched by reading respectively.

If you can, always keep reading x

He knew why he wanted to kiss her. Because she was beautiful. And before that, because she was kind. And before that, because she was smart and funny. Because she was exactly the right kind of smart and funny. Because he could imagine taking a long trip with her without ever getting bored. Because whenever he saw something new and interesting, or new and ridiculous, he always wondered what she’d have to say about it–how many stars she’d give it and why.

Soulmates are not your ~other half~, that’s just nonsense. You are a whole person already, not half a person. A soulmate isn’t even inherently romantic. A soulmate is just the other sock in a matched set. You’re still a whole, complete sock on your own, you are perfectly functional paired with any other sock, it’s just that it’s even better when you match. A soulmate is literally just the person who makes your soul go “!!! Same hat!!!” and wave excitedly.
