My cabin from living + working in Denali National Park (Alaska)
I forget to write on Tumblr in the same way that I write on Instagram, as I figure folks just see my photos here with a less personal experience than other social media platforms. But hi, I’m Lauren. I spent the last 5 months working in Denali National Park (Alaska) and it was the most challenging/rewarding season of my life. I recently wrapped up working for the park and have been spending some time with friends in the Lower 48, sharing stories of Alaska and field work deep in the tundra. Though I learned a lot about self-sufficiency and independence while in the Last Frontier, I’m happy to have a quick moment between parks to be with friends and family, as Christopher McCandless (pictured above) said it best: “Happiness [is] only real when shared.” #IntoTheWild

Snow camping in the North Cascades of Washington State.
Did you know Denali National Park is the only NPS location to have a sled dog team? These adorable pups are loved on by volunteers and employees year-round but really put in the work during the winter season to assist with park projects that would otherwise not be possible (or take far, far longer to complete).
You can visit them yourself at the park, where kennel rangers are available to answer any questions you may have about their lifestyle. If you cannot make it up to Alaska, their website is informative as well!
