I think, therefore I am [awake at 1 am]

@existential-dread-in-the-am

Vale, any pronouns, weird blog. more details in the post below. (finally changed to a summer background)

Trying to make a new pinned post bc I accidentally deleted the last one

Hello! I'm Vale and this is...a calming blog I think?? Just a collection of things I like. sfw. Blog is named after the moment of it's creation but also reportedly causes existential crises sometimes.

Mostly it's just nature, forests, coffee, tea, books, many many cats and other creatures, strange conversations, some quotes, some horror, fandom things, anime (mostly bsd), poetic nonsense, some writing related stuff too, just...I just reblog things I like.

I'm over 18 and aroace, any and all pronouns work, if you need to know more just dm and I'll tell. I have no idea what's going on but I'm friendly I promise *offers you a cup of your favorite warm beverage*

(Except if you're in some type of hate group or agree with their ideals, you people will be blocked on sight.)

I like receiving asks but my answers may be strange. You can tag me in or send me anything that's not offensive or nsfw, I'm curious about most things...random facts and bits of knowledge, your beloved/beloathed blorbos, CAT PICTURES SEND ME CAT PICTURES PLEASE and anything else really.

Tags:

"Too many bad things" - negativity tag for anything that is not calming, like bad news and discourse.

"Ominous" - anything with horror themes.

"Bones" - mostly pretty art I couldn't resist reblogging that has bones somewhere in it.

"Vale's collection of dreams and nightmares" - personal tag that functions as my dream diary. you might want to block this (I'll try to tag and hide anything triggering)

"Alcohol in this post" - post contains alcohol (rare tag)

"Oh look a cat!" - posts where I've spotted a cat-like creature (often followed by "oh look another!" if there are several)

"Writings of friends" - reblogged posts and asks that contain things written by my friends. You can send me your own writings too if you want me to read and/or post them 👀...

'Vale's nonsensical writing archive' - my posts about my writing bc I need to find them somehow

If you have more tag ideas let me know?

Lastly: if you see me post or reblog something problematic just let me know, I can take criticism and won't be mad at you.

I love seeing list memes where someone makes a "le cool people vs le cringe" and they obviously skew it so they barely scrape by into the cool kids club

You just KNOW this dudes 5'11"

I'm 5'11, but in most casual conversations I'll say I'm 5'9. I do this purely for the chaos that it creates. Because everyone assumes that men only exaggerate their height up, it makes me look like the only person honestly describing their height and thus knocks at least 2 inches off everyone else's description. The panic that the 6'1 guys feel at the thought of being described as 5'11 is hard to understate. I have had people run back to their cars to grab tape measures. If I could get away with describing myself as 4'6 I would.

you are the diametrical opposite of the aforementioned guy. you are a demigod walking among mortals

this has always fascinated me. I first learned it about 25 years ago, and ever since, every time I see a capital letter A  a tiny voice inside me goes “bull!”

Fun to see an actual scholarly version of this, because I first read it as explained (-ish) by one of Kipling’s “Just So Stories” a very, very long time ago…

I feel she should be an ancient vampire who was there when all of this happened.

You know what… This really is one of the only alignment post that get the chaotic and lawful descriptors correctly aligned.

On the Lawful side: the two people who have to follow the recipes nearly exactly for the results they want - baking isn’t quite am exact measurements process but the margin of error for experiment is very, very thin. Tempering chocolate for use in structural works even more so.

On the Chaotic side: cooking and mixology where the margins of error for ingredients and portioning are so broad “whatever feels right” is almost never the wrong answer. The same recipe could be done a dozen different ways for a dozen different people and all of them would be a great outcome with minimal disaster in their wake.

This could also be an allegory for the difference between wizards (bakers) and sorcerers (cooks) - they’re all magic users (chefs), but the type of magic the weild and the source of their power is vastly different

You know, I was originally thinking that Dylan and Shiadanni should swap, but this convinced me they were properly placed, well done.
