My name is Jon. They tell me I used to be very smart. I'm 29 and in NYC, a Freelance Cinematographer, and a Tech Specialist for an New-Media Think-Tank somewhere in Academia. I do web comedy with a total bunch of wankers called "Student Loans For Beer Money" I like infrastructure, failures, cold war relics, aircraft, space exploration and associated paraphernalia, technology, photoshop, the phrase "et cetera", et cetera. if I talk with big words and elaborate sentences but I'm not trying to be a prick about it. I love weird ass bullshit and pointing out the stupidity of modern culture. Hello. It’s been a while. Look at this thing I built. In addition to providing real time data, If you say “Alexa mess up the trains” it insults the governor.

It’s an important part of growing up as a filmmaker, or even as a conscious film watcher, when you realize the richard kelly is dumb and donnie darko is meaningless and also dumb.

So, this is the beer-bot. Another thing I built. Sits on my friends fridge, tweets how many beers he has. Tweets sent back to it come out of a little printer. Printer needs to be plugged in but the beer bot has a rechargeable battery that will last several days.

Your stupid product ideas can also be a reality for a small large fee. Inquire within.

Been on a real weird homebrew electronics kick lately. Here’s an example:

This is an ESP8266 module, a dollar store car charger, an adafruit 3.3v buck and a couple of mosfets set up that when I visit a specific web page, this “NOPE” sign lights up and a solenoid rings that bell.

It’s remarkably satisfying to trigger. I can’t explain it.

Expanding on that concept there’s also a remote, also built off an ESP8266 - powered by a battery reclaimed from a disposable e-cig that triggers the sign via wifi.

I guess the logical next step is to migrate the sign itself from the cardboard-box housing.

I’ll build you one for $99 if you ask real nice? Also if you have a 3d printer and can cook me up a better enclosure for the the lightbox itself, I’ll build you one for free.

I can usually decipher badly translated marketing - but this may be the new standard-bearer.

Okay, some jackass put these two commercials on back to back on purpose. I almost had a stroke.

Here, I’ve saved you the trouble of watching the weather channel for the next 48 hours.

Made this two years ago. Still painfully relevant.
