you're not a "highly sensitive person," you're autistic
OP is silencing and gaslighting people that are correcting them (some of which have HSP but not Autism) which is dangerous because I see people in the tags actually believing OP.
IDK where OP got their information from, and i’d be open to their sources, but HSP is NOT autism. having HSP isnt a promise that you have autism. HSP is NOT synonymous with autism. HSP is a combination of ‘symptoms’ or traits, so it often overlaps with multiple conditions. Similar to how many ADHD and Autism characteristics overlap although they are not the same.
Again, there is an OVERLAP with some HSP and Autism traits, but they are entirely different. It’s not uncommon for people with Autism to have HSP, but a majority of people with HSP do not have Autism. The belief of otherwise is a result of past stigma and poor defining/research of Autism that grouped people with ADHD (formerly ADD), all levels of Autism, OCD, and HSP together. Brain mapping/imaging science has PROVEN to us that HSP and Autism are distinctly different.
Autism is a disorder, HSP is not.
Multiple sources from doctors/researchers/advocates below:
“We also hold concerns about highly sensitive people being misdiagnosed as autistic by professionals who are not trained in assessing temperament and high sensitivity, which may lead to poor self-understanding and mismatched supports.”
Misinformation is dangerous to everyone involved. Even if you wanna say you aren’t referring to the literally “HSP,” you put it in the HSP tag and made no clarification that you were not talking about HSP and told HSP individuals that they were uneducated and don’t know about the root of HSP when informing you about a very dangerous misconception that leads to improper diagnoses.
yeah, no. if this was your field of study you would've learned the history of the term and how it came about in the first place. being more sensitive in general is not the same as autism and we never said it was.
learn your history before you try to rewrite it.
lmao I?? checking the credentials of the first source you provided, and this is the type of "professional" that you're believing?? no wonder you have a limited view point jfc.
"psychopathic traits are associated with reduced attention to the eyes of emotional faces among adult male non-offenders"
what the Fuck? and this is just One person's credentials on this site. what the Fuck?
I really do not appreciate the slander. Nor your inability to provide any source of what you are talking about that others, in the community that you are shaking for, originally raised issue with despite insults.
“being more sensitive in general is not the same as autism and we never said it was.” Yet you are arguing that others’ definition of HSP is pseudoscience. HSP, today, is defined as someone who is highly sensitive and you put it in that tag and insulted people that kindly said they’re different. Regardless of prior definitions, today that is what HSP is recognized and defined as. You could easily add a disclaimer or delete your post considering the inaccuracies and failure to acknowledge that you are hurting people in the community and spreading what people are incorrectly interpreting, but you refuse to. Instead, you’re insulting and demeaning anyone that points this out due to their discomfort. I respect what you’ve done for communities, but you don’t advocate for queerfolk of all types by demeaning and insulting anyone in the community that express discomfort. its bigotry.
In regard to the slander, I have no idea where you got the screenshots from your post from but those are not the credentials of anyone that i provided. positivepsychology is a platform that allows psychologists to post digestible articles for the public. just like we are both posting different opinions, positivepsychology works just like this but with the prerequisite of a psychology degree. the article i sent is by two people (one writer one reviewer). The screenshot you posted is neither of their credentials. If you just picked a random person that has posted on the site and somehow use their credentials to discredit every other article when privatepsychology is an open site for all psychologists.. its like saying every university student believes what another university student has said.. thats intellectually dishonest. Let’s not discredit these women’s psychology backgrounds especially when they’re people that use their background to advocate for reparations, gender equality, and client protections.
Now that I clarified the dangerous slander you put out against me for some reason that would push the narrative that I believe in the gross stuff in your screenshot that would get me labeled as a bigot or right-wing pseudoscience pig, and now that the facts regarding your post are out there. You can block this account as well as you see fit. Thank you !
