Crawling back out of hiding to say that I don’t think we talk about epilepsy on here as much as we should
Epilepsy is not just the “flashing lights and bright colors disease.” It just isn’t. There are so many different variables that make up what a seizure is, and I feel like the word “seizure” in and of itself is really only understood in the case of tonic-clonic (“Grand Mal”) seizures, i.e. the most dramatic type of seizure that can cause loss of consciousness (LOC), as just one example.
Not all of them cause LOC! In fact, a seizure can be as simple as “staring into space” for a spell and losing time, sometimes while making involuntary twitchy or jerky movements. They may feel like being in a dream, or invoke a sense of deja vu. They may cause muscle stiffness, dizziness, or tingling. Sometimes people respond differently while in a seizure, and may sound confused or dazed. Sometimes they can cause random feelings of happiness or anxiety. And then there’s also the repetitive movements that can sometimes look like stimming.
Another thing that’s misunderstood is that not everyone person with epilepsy is photosensitive (i.e., sensitive to flashing lights and such), and seizures in general aren’t just triggered by flashing lights or colors alone. Seizures can also be triggered by specific times of the day, sleep deprivation, alcohol or drug use, stress, hormonal changes and periods, nutritional factors, medications, etc.
According to Mayo Clinic, epilepsy is usually diagnosed when two seizures unprovoked occur within 24 hours of each other. An EEG can detect electrical activity in the brain, and is generally used in epilepsy workups. It is even used during sleep and can be a helpful aid in detecting nocturnal seizures (yes, those are a thing as well).
There are, as described above, several different types of seizures. Mayo clinic does a good job in identifying what type is which, but keep in mind that epilepsy is not something that can be self-diagnosed. If you think you might have epilepsy, talk to your doctor so they can assist with assessment.
Grabbing people by their shoulders and shaking them until they can prove to me they know what "twink" means
I was listening to a bunch of LGBT+ ppl from Louisiana as a guest for a podcast and the topic of "twink" came up and they more or less were like, "yeah nowadays cishet ppl know saying 'f*g' raises eyebrows so they just say 'twink' when they want to say 'f*g' but it's obvious what they want to say when they say the word," and like, that's basically it, right. Also they talked about lubed up jockstrap wrestling at a gay bar and how there was a cishet guy that participated because he just wanted to wrestle.
DONT HAVE UR DOG OFF OF A LEAD IN A METRO STATION GIRL THE TRAIN?
Friendly reminder
If you mean "In America" please say, in America. *"Here's a list of free resources or helplines for ..." if you mean in America, say in America. *"Now it's nearly x-holiday, we're all going to have to deal with y again..." if you mean in America, say in America. * "Everyone who's afflicted by [common modern problem afflicting billions worldwide] is entitled to compensation..." if you mean in America, say in America * "If you haven't already called your senator about this, you're a bad person... " Cut that out anyway, but if you mean in America, say in America. If you'd like international help/attention for whatever the problem is, figure out how people can give it.
If you're on the internet, you're in an international space. Always. Your country isn't the world, and when you loudly make it clear you view American and Person as interchangeable synonyms, you're being rude. All the rest of us routinely specify the country we're talking about already.
gently patting my computer as it struggles to open Potion Craft

Last thing about this situation with @multiple-myselves and @circulars-reasoning.
TL;DR: They waited 8 months and two separate users bringing it up and me making a post about it to do anything. And what they did was focus entirely on how this affects their server reputation, how my post "triggered" them (but apparently the entire topic of CP and also being told that multiple people coming forward is "not enough evidence" of abuse occurring is fine), then proceed to focus on how the latest person who came forward cannot be trusted because of *spins wheel* Minecraft discourse and then POSTED THEIR LEGAL NAME, and then actively let the guy back in. Definitely not exactly how victims are often discredited for their stories at all and certainly not obvious that you only care about your public reputation.
- They are actively letting the pedophile back into the server (after openly saying they banned him just because I made a post about it), which means not only are they harboring him knowingly but Went Out Of Their Way to let him back into a space full of trauma survivors. :)
- If multiple unrelated people with corroborating stories and who do not know each other, and screenshots of others' accounts with him, and screenshots of the person Actively Admitting himself to having posted CP is not enough evidence, what evidence is enough for you? Especially if you are now rescinding the previous statement that you required screenshots of CP to "prove" it. What evidence exists other than the Actual CP could you possibly obtain at this point?
- This is not hearsay and rumor, these multiple people were also people who had direct dealings with the person in question. I was actively mutuals with him and blocked him for posting CP and defending his actions. I am still in contact with more than one person who remembers him posting CP because we were all mutuals.
- Calling it he-said she-said when it comes to, again, Multiple People with similar stories, but then taking the accounts of people defending him at face value and deciding that "proves" that they are, and this is a direct quote, "false allegations."
- Actively attempting to undermine peoples' testimony by mentioning that they got into drama years ago as if that somehow matters or is related. But curiously only against people who are saying that he's a pedophile! Notably it is Minecraft drama as if somehow whatever that is is on the same level as posting nudes of children you babysat.
- There was never a time crunch on this, or "pressure", as the first time this was brought up (to my knowledge) was January 2023, making this issue nearly a year old. The "harassment" was also me making 1 post about it.
- Completely ignoring how terribly they treated the person who came forward including telling them they couldn't sleep until it was dealt with, trying to get them to act as a middleman when I do not know them, etc.
- They are claiming I'm engaging in a "smear campaign" when I have literally no incentive or motivation for this. I do not have a DID server, I am not IN DID servers, I actively and openly have stated I do not like to comment on people unless they're harmful and have declined to comment on peoples' blogs when asked. I very quietly blocked multiple-myselves months ago with no fanfare. My motivation is very simple actually: I don't like it when people who run spaces for trauma survivors are also protecting abusers who are their buddies. I think that presents a danger. And several people have approached me asking if I know the mod because he's mentioned me before in ways that implies friendship, which makes it squarely my problem if people think we're friendly and he's sidling up next to pedophiles that have been known to be a pedophile since 2016.
I've just gotten a DM from the Spike saying I need to stop spreading that they doxxed me on purpose. Apparently, nobody in their right mind would assume that it was my legal name. Apparently, Spike had no idea it was my legal name until someone else told him. Apparently, it was all accidental. I'm making this addition in the spirit of transparency, since the admins of the server have been very insistent that I not misrepresent them or the situation.
I want to stress that, after I found out about the callout I DMed Spike informing him that it was my legal name. He didn't respond. Half an hour later I sent a message in the Book Club server about it, which he deleted, and banned me. That is two separate occasions I told him. Three hours later somebody else told him to remove my legal name from the document, and Spike said he would, and claimed to have had no idea it was my legal name. This was hours after I had told him it was my legal name (twice). From then, it took twelve hours for the callout to have my legal name removed.
Even assuming the best, that Spike thought it wasn't my legal name, that Spike didn't see my messages somehow, or that Spike thought I was lying: That's still a deadname. The best case scenario is that I was deadnamed, in a callout post that calls me (and this is a direct quote) "the most difficult to work with and ultimately necessary to ban person I've ever met."
I'm glad to say the legal name has been removed from the callout post. It's still a disgusting way to have handled an accusation, even one that they believe to be false. The callout they've made characterises me as someone who is acting out of spite, acting maliciously, making up lies, and attempting to trigger people. And the serious impact on my safety that comes with publishing my legal name in a callout still applies, even if it really was unintentional.
EXTREMELY rare w from the uk media
Defamation lawsuits in UK are heavily weighted in *favor* of the plaintiff. You have to have a pretty weak case to lose over there. If there wasn't a rabbid, inescapable social media campaign against Amber Heard, he would have lost in America too.
