i truly believe that jacks fell in love first. it probably started the night he almost turned vampire, and it continued on tbona. he probably didn’t realize it, but he was jealous and protective of her the whole time, and eva even says he fought for her like his life depended on it.
jacks also spends weeks looking for a cure for evangeline’s curse, gets irritated when evangeline tells him that she went to apollo’s brother and ended up hurt, and is delighted when he finds her literally hugging his shirt and asks if she missed him. he tells lala it’s not a big deal, but then is hugging and petting evangeline because she’s sad. i don’t need to talk about tbona’s ending because there it was more than obvious that he likes her, and even evangeline knows that and says “i doubt he doesn’t feel the same as me” after she says she loves him lol
tis’ boy fell really quick for evangeline and i understand him.

there’s this passage where lala says that even with the slightest attraction jacks could be tempted to kiss, and that speaks volumes about how he feels with evangeline. we know that he is clearly attracted, and very much, due to the various passages that show this, and on top of that he is also in love and has sacrificed his everything for her. he says there is nothing of equal value to him. when we remember that fate feels very intensely and that he is fighting his feelings so hard not to kill her, we can see how much he loves her. for he has felt similar things before, but for her it is so much greater than all other times. it’s so real, so punctual in his life that I can’t help but think that eva is really unique to him.
