Affirmations for reparenting the inner child

One way we can work on healing from childhood abuse and neglect is to imagine our childhood self and say the things to ourselves that our caregivers SHOULD have expressed to us and didn’t. Imagine your self at each of these ages. Imagine holding that child-self lovingly in your arms or on your lap, and say these things to the child-you that is still inside you.

hey, cm’here a second

go to a fancy restaurant and order an apple juice

use the brightly colored band-aid to cover the scratch that probably doesn’t need a band-aid in the first place

use the glitter gel pens

wear the obnoxiously colorful makeup

watch that new animated kids movie you saw the trailer for

go for a swim and imagine your a mermaid

buy the fun shaped macaroni and cotton candy flavored yogurt

jump in a puddle

crunch some leaves

cut the crusts off your sandwhich and don’t be afraid to order the chicken tenders and fries

it’s okay to do “childish” things, you deserve it.
