I know this is probably an unpopular opinion (hence anon) But I feel like people makes such a big deal about the Ravenclaw House colors between the book/movie and in fact, I kind of liked the movie colors better oddly enough. Like yes, the blue/bronze are nice, but I thought silver was fine and I had never understood the eagle symbolism. It made more sense to have a RAVEN be the motif for RAVENclaw, you know? Also I'm pretty sure ravens have at least 10x more learning ability than an eagle.
Eh, to each their own. I personally think bronze and blue together is GORGEOUS and that we were robbed, but blue and silver is real classy too. The thing that ticks most Ravenclaws off I think is just the fact that they changed it for LITERALLY NO REASON and kept everyone else the same.
And the eagle vs raven thing! In old english naming stuff (a very official phrase), raven was another way to describe a dark color. SO a bird (like an eagle) would have been raven-clawed. The eagle symbolizes Ravenclaw’s abilities to “soar where others cannot climb” . So that’s pretty cool! Maybe JK chose an eagle to symbolize Ravenclaw’s freedom, giving the house a little bit more dimension than just “the braniacs”.
But also like, the houses were named for their founders. Rowena can’t choose her last name. Maybe she was like “alright I gotta choose an animal. Eagles are cool. AND they have black talons! How PERFECT! Goes with my name.” and then later she was like “A RAVEN!!!!! HOW DID I MISS THAT!”
Who knows, I wasn’t alive in the Scottish Middle Ages.

374. Some slytherins get together and ask among themselves why dogs aren’t allowed as pets and scheme to rescue dogs and secretly keep them as pets. They may also create a petition, and if the petition doesn’t work seek protesting to allow their dogs with them at Hogwarts

A while ago I thought about Harry Potter wands and how all the known variants seem to be just a straight piece of magical wood with a magical core. Maybe some are staffs, but the most exotic one that I can think of is Hagrid’s umbrella. I spent some time pondering about potential designs for wands or accessories to enhance their general usefulness or usefulness in specific situations.
Could a wand be strapped to or otherwise mounted on the wrist and still be used to cast spells? Perhaps the wood could be coiled to fit comfortably on one’s arm. How many wands could a person use at once this way (or any way)?
What if a wand was forked? Could it produce a spell from every tip with greater total power? Would that require multiple cores? Could the tips converge toward a point to multiply the power further, like the Death Star?
Do wands even have to be wooden? Are bones, rocks/gems/crystals, metals, glass, and/or even plastics valid substitutes?
Could wands be made to double as weaponry such as knives, spears, swords, clubs, slingshots, bows, whips, or flails? What about armor pieces such as gauntlets or shields?
Could one have wand cores surgically implanted into the bones of their fingers/arms so they can easily cast spells without a traditional wand? Would spells be more powerful? Would having both implanted cores and a traditional wand at the same time boost spell power even more?
Could broomsticks be made to also act as wands? How powerful could that be?
WOULD IT BE POSSIBLE TO MAKE WIZARD POWER ARMOR?
This could be an entirely new field of study for the wizarding world!
