New Moon: I'm in the dark magical place where you end a journey and start a new one. A journey older than time and yet happening for the first time once again. As I rest and replenish my energy in the darkness, I'm the Mistress of mysteries. I can see everything that was and everything that might be: I'm the Oracle.

Magic For The Disabled

A few things that I do when I’m at my lowest. Made specifically for disabled people, but anyone can do these! See this post for low energy witchcraft ideas not directly related to disabilities.

  • Enchant your blanket for a good night’s rest
  • Enchant your coffee/juice/water/NyQuil/whatever you’re drinking to aid in recovery
  • Enchant food to aid in recovery
  • Place sigils around to aid in recovery, memory, etc.
  • Keep relaxing herbs/stones/etc. around
  • Cast a sleep aid spell (I have a bag with lavender and amethyst hanging on a bedpost)
  • Cast a recovery spell (I have another bag with a variety of protection and rest herbs and crystals)
  • Enchant fidgets or objects used to stim to calm you and to never break
  • Use energy magic instead of physical spells.
  • Use art/writing/etc. magic! Draw sigils, deities, write spells, recipes, shopping lists, etc.
  • Stir and infuse good energy/banishing into teas or coffees.
  • Keep some supplies nearby (i.e. tea lights, a lighter, grimoire, oils, etc.).
  • Use showers, washing of face/hands, etc. for cleansing.
  • Brush out the bad energy when brushing your hair.
  • Ward health aids or mobility aids against breaking and bless them to work quickly and well.
  • Use apps or websites for sigils, spells, etc. (VirtualCandleSpell for digital candle spells, Craiyon for sigils).
  • Keep room sprays near you and bless them to serve a certain purpose.
  • Make emoji/song spells! Use corresponding emojis and charge them with intent. Use corresponding songs, put them on a playlist, charge them, and listen to it whenever you want to cast it.
  • Use makeup/skincare as glamours.
  • Use sunscreen as protection!
  • Use wax warmers and melts instead of candles.
  • Use oils in diffusers instead of candles or incense.
  • Enchant anything you use daily.

If you like my content, think about buying me a coffee!

As a fan creator, you are your own “boss” and therefore you decide on your own workload. However, if you are enthusiastic about the fandom or if you’re one of a small set of creators or if you’re trying to “keep up” with other writers, you might take on more work than you can reasonably handle.

A lot of fan creators feel a strong sense of responsibility attached to their posting schedule, for example, or feel guilt associated with not writing on a particular day. Self-imposed deadlines can become hard and fast rules rather than personal goals, and there is stress and anxiety related to not meeting those deadlines. Missing a posting date or taking too long of a break from uploading content can feel like a risk, like your audience will be disappointed and might even disappear.

Workload becomes a problem when you feel overwhelmed by what you need to do. This might be because you have accepted prompts from others, because you’ve started several works in progress but not completed them yet, or because you’ve signed up to participate in fandom events.

If you find yourself overloaded and stressed out by your to do list, it’s time to prioritize and deselect.

What fics are you most interested in writing? Put those at the top of your list. What are you not at all interested in doing? Remove those from the list. If that means that you won’t fill a prompt, let the requester know that you won’t be able to write it for them. Generally speaking, people are understanding. Telling them also means that they are free to give that prompt to another author.

Fandom event organizers would also rather you let them know early that you’ll be pulling out. The more time you can give them to find a replacement for you, the better. Most organizers have “back up” writers available who will take on unclaimed prompts for people who are unable to complete the challenge or event.

Be open and honest with yourself and with others about what you can really do. It will be better for everyone involved. A sustainable workload is necessary for you to be able to continue creating long-term.

Because of the amount of time and energy being devoted to fic and the exhaustion that results from overwork, authors who are experience burnout are more likely to need more rewards from the community in order to feel like their effort is worthwhile. If the reward they are receiving feels too small for too long, these authors might complain about a lack of comments or kudos, insist on more interaction from their communities, or maybe even stop writing altogether.

Unfortunately, no amount of reward will help them restore their depleted energy.

It’s important to note that you can feel burnt out, even when you’re doing something you love. Because it’s something you love doing, you are more likely to push yourself to do it even when you’re tired or otherwise need to rest. This is even more true when fic writing is something you’ve done in the past to help you relax from other life stresses.

If you are feeling stressed out or overwhelmed or like you have too much on your plate take a step back. Give yourself some time off. Remember that writing is your hobby and ultimately the only person you are responsible to is yourself.

Rest, recharge, and let go of the things that aren’t working right now. Take care of yourself first and you’ll be better able to take care of others later.

no cishets at pride! *spin kicks a grandma with a “I love my gay son” tshirt*

Yes, @passionpeachy illustrates a great point!

The first pride my mother attended, she marched with me alongside the PFLAG float, holding a sign that read "I'm Proud of My Gay Child".

I noticed she kept falling behind and running to catch up, nearly a whole float behind us. So finally, I stopped to see what was going on.

People kept pointing at her sign and cheering and then she'd proudly point at me, saying "they're here!"

That was usually the point where at least one person burst into tears. And this is where my mom started lagging - because she'd stop, reach over the barrier, and hug them. Teenagers, twenty-somethings, thirty-somethings... they'd break down crying at the sight of a cishet woman proudly marching with her child in Texas, of all places. That she'd claim me and be proud of me. Because they couldn't imagine their own family doing the same.

So she stopped and hugged them and told them she was proud of them, even though she had to race to catch up in the heat, even though they were strangers. And i like to think she made those young people's lives a bit better.

So yes, cishets at pride.

I'd rather have a cishet grandma there than a gay cop.

A cishet person can be asexual. Or aromantic. Or demisexual. Or demiromantic. The sort that people seem to conveniently and frequently forget exist for somehow not being “queer enough” or whatever the fuck. Or, as the person above said, just be a supportive and proud ally.

When we exclude people, it should be, you know. Fascists, bigots, racists, TERFs - the kinds of people who should ALWAYS be excluded until there’s no longer a place for them to exist in the ecosystem.

It should not be a proud parent/grandparent/sibling/etc. present to give support and allyship. It should not be people who might be closeted, people who only feel safe to be out when surrounded by a crowd.

It shouldn’t be people who do belong.

I still love how when the switch came out Nintendo was like “I know! We will make the switch games taste bad so kids won’t eat them!”

And all of humanity collectively said: “Okay but how bad does it taste?” And licked their switch cartridges.

Philosophers and anthropologists have debated it for years. “The defining trait of humanity is our intelligence/compassion/creativity/curiosity, etc.”

No no. All of that is wrong.

The defining trait of humanity is that we are weird as shit.

The defining trait

of humanity is that

we are weird as shit.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.

it's wild that virtually all modern digital infrastructure is built to constantly spy on us and harvast our data for advertising yet online advertsing is still basically worthless and nobody seems to actually be benefitting from all this

a vast rube goldberg machine of privacy violations all working together to deliver the most precisely targeted ads straight into my adblocker

it’s horrific. awful way to die. either you’re trapped with no chance of being found, air running out, everyone around you suffocating, or the hull is broken and you get turned to jelly by the crushing ocean depths. ik they’re billionaires so it’s very contentious for me. generally i prefer no one dies horrifically. like just as a fellow human being on earth. but i dont think the ultra rich ever extend that mindset to others. climate refugees. and just everything. it feels like something a greek god would do to punish them. it has a certain swagful je ne sais quoi if removed from the human suffering which billionaires have to do philosophically to maintain their positions. very haunting. the hubris of it all. old jalopy metal tube steered by a mad catz controller. to go look at the titanic. which is nothing but a rusted out metal wreck full of fish and silt. btw. the grandiosity of it is completely unrecognizable. one has to wonder what compels ppl to even look at it in the first place. like the prestige of seeing some filthy grown over shell? crazy thing to die for. very textually rich… bad way to die as a human being. great way to die as a narrative about human greed and folly i guess. good job. mission accomplished?

It is actually way better for 100 addicts to get their fix on pain pills than a single person in pain go without. I call this the "Torture is bad" principle. You should be able to get the good stuff forever after a single doctor's visit. If you're worried about addicts fund rehab centers and needle exchanges instead of torturing people.

Among other things if you can't use the legit market you turn to the black market anyway.

if you're worried about addiction, build a society where people get their basic needs met, including pain management.

rocky horror is the worst and is also transmisogynistic can we please finally get over this shit movie

ok but like the writer is transgender nonbinary and the language used in the play was the preferred language by trans people of that time can we not deny parts of our history because we’ve evolved since then thanks

So fucking much this.

PS, youth of today: you’ll be saying the same damn thing about art from this time before too long, for good or for ill. Terminology will, in fact, change. Definitions will, in fact, shift. It always does, they always do.

PPS, it is pretty much impossible to overstate how life-alteringly important this movie was to kids who didn’t conform to standard expectations of gender and sexuality, back in the day. Especially when back in the day was the mid-to-late 1980s, when the only queers you saw on TV were neutered AIDS tragedies, Bowie was playing straight, and even Elton John was married to a woman, and midnight showing of RHPS were pretty much the only place that felt like home. It was mental life raft for a lot of people.

I was one of them.

ALSO IT’S A SATIRE IT’S SUPPOSED TO BE AN “OFFENSIVE” PORTRAYAL IT’S MAKING FUN OF STRAIGHT PEOPLE WHO ARE AFRAID OF US IT’S EXAGGERATING THEIR IDEAS OF US TO THE POINT OF LUDICROUSNESS THAT’S THE ACTUAL POINT

also you fail to understand just how many, many people were allowed to be queer for Tim Curry and how many doors that began to open

we say this as someone who was in several closets and first saw the film when we were 18 and that was 1981 ffs this film MATTERED

Rocky Horror kept me alive.

Dear children.

I know your pitchforks are shiny and sharp and you’re dying to use them.

But please. Before you go a’pokin’

Learn your history before you burn your history.

When I came out to a (straight) friend of mine in high school (late 90s), she enthusiastically said, “You have to watch Rocky Horror! You need to meet your people.”

I watched it. I didn’t understand it. I was still partially ensnared by my conservative upbringing and was embarrassed by the open sexuality. I was squirmy and uncomfortable. I didn’t really like it.

The older I’ve gotten, the more I’ve come to value it. One, I’ve lost a lot of my hangups around openly sexual things, so I don’t feel weird about everyone running around in underwear and lingerie and bondage gear. Two, I’ve come to value finding a connection with my people, as my friend so wisely suggested I needed to do. And while I value it for what it was, I value it even more for what it IS: A way for me to connect to my elders, who are so frequently inaccessible to me for one reason or another. A window into a time where that movie was defiance, was pride, was a riot all its own. It said we’re here, and we will not be ashamed of ourselves. A bulwark against fear in the time of renewed aggression in which we find ourselves.

Anyway. Rocky Horror. I appreciate it for helping me meet my people.

As entertaining as the Reddit shenanigans are, I'm genuinely worried about permanently losing access to all of those old posts about very specific tech problems that it seems only Redditors know the answers to. When I Google how to fix some error on my device or a glitch in a video game, the most helpful information comes from a Reddit post from 5 years ago with like 12 upvotes. I don't want to have to rely on, like, Quora for that help from now on.

Tataru in ARR: What a goofy, drunk character.

Tataru in Heavensward: The goofy character is…actually using her singing to listen in on information and hella smart about it?

Tataru in Stormblood: She has out gambited Lolorito with the ease of putting a child to bed. Something neither Raubahn, Ilberd, or at least two Sultana reigns have been able to do.

Tataru in Shadowbringers: Literally one of four people holding the Scions together as we’re off on another world.

Tataru in Endwalker: The heart of the party, the soul to keep us going, the warm cocoa and tea when we get home, and the open door for when everything is said and done.

she’s the true Warrior of Light
