If you play “Feeling Myself” by Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé at exactly 11:58:50 pm on New Year’s Eve, Beyoncé will say “World Stop” in 2017 and “Carry On” in 2018.

The woman in the bathroom is trans and is scared that if she comes out of the stall the women that walked in will insult or harass her. but when she comes out they compliment her on her dress instead. The add ends with saying “stress tested for women.” It means Secret is including trans women in their definition of women.
I have reblogged this three times now, each one mentioning the fact that Secret not only included a trans woman, but that they /had the other women compliment her dress and treat her with respect/. I will reblog this every time I see it because it’s so important. More companies should involve trans people in their marketing - we do exist. Props to Secret for getting in on this movement. It makes me really happy to see more of the trans community represented in daily television.
Reblog the shit out of this
We need more positive things like this!
Okay but I did cry
white man: i’m fascinated with history espe– me: military history white man: actually yes a– me: world war two white man: uh yea– me: nazis
Someone: Are you taken? Me: Ya for granted
why do people say “don’t be a pussy” when talking about weakness more like “don’t be a man’s ego” because you know there isn’t nothing more fragile than that
uh
because “pussy” is the shortened form of the word “pusillanimous”, which means “timid, cowardly”
and not the slang word for the female genital region?
literally no one else knows this. nobody.

Don’t confuse my kindness for weakness.
“Are you sure you’re a lesbian? You dress too pretty to be a lesbian!”
“You don’t act like the other trans people I know.”
“When I met you, my gaydar started flashing. You just look and act so gay.”
Statements like these reveal an issue which runs rampant concerning LGBTQ+ people – one that damages our community and harms individuals. There’s a notion in the LGBTQ+ community that there’s a certain, right way to be lesbian/gay/bi/trans/pan/ace/however-you-identify. There are boxes to check off, merit badges to earn, and societal expectations to fulfill. These expectations are heavily influenced by the stereotypes that have been embraced by many of the more vocal members of the LGBTQ+ community. To “act gay” is to be femme, fabulous, and promiscuous. To “act trans” is to take gender norms to the extreme. To accuse anyone of acting or not acting like their respective identity is harmful to both the individual and the community.
Setting standards for what it means to “act gay” enforces stereotypes, drawing harsh lines within the community. Suddenly, there are expectations that have to be fulfilled to be good enough for inclusion in the LGBTQ+ community. Within our community, it divides us into niches and cliques, making it impossible to truly come together for the good of all. These standards also heavily influence the way that cisgender and heterosexual people view LGBTQ+ individuals, resulting in falsified notions of what it means to LGBTQ+. These stereotypes make it easier to belittle and bully those who don’t conform, and they set unrealistic expectations for kids who are trying to figure out their own identities. Children are easily influenced by the world around them, and lies regarding how to be queer takes kids who don’t fulfill those stereotypes and shoves them into a box. Enough of this world is already telling kids who to be and how to act; it shouldn’t be coming from within our community as well.
“Toxic” is the best way to describe this mindset. The LGBTQ+ community is characterized by its amazing diversity. Very few groups can claim to have people from every walk of life, ethnicity, religion and background. We have this extreme privilege, and we shouldn’t squander it by stereotyping. Be cautious of ostracizing language moving forward, and call it out when you encounter usage. It turns people into caricatures and retracts from the amazing progress being made every day towards equality and acceptance.

On May 20, 2017, STORM Robotics hosted its first annual FIRST Compass, an event where teams can give or watch presentations about different subjects in robotics. Representing LGBTQ+ of FIRST, Jaye and Sean presented this slide show to help teams in the MAR region and MAR itself learn how to be more inclusive to LGBTQ+ FIRST participants.
Since numerous teams seemed interested, LGBTQ+ of FIRST is sharing this presentation for all FIRSTers, especially those outside the MAR region and those who missed the event.
Every LGBTQ+ students deserves a welcoming and inclusive environment.
