no thoughts except for the current US tour’s grantaire confirming that he reads les mis fanfiction as part of his character reference

au where les mis was actually a book written by grantaire to convince les amis to not Do the revolution

“hey grantaire if this is supposed to be to convince us that the revolution will end badly, uh… why is only a small fraction of it about us”

“i got inspired”

  • “who is jean valjean?” “my oc”
  • “and uh.. who’s this javert dude?” “well i mean……. obviously jvj needed a romantic symbolic rival”
  • “yeah why is marius the only one who survives??” “because of cosette” “and WHO is cosette?” “my other oc”
  • “hey grantaire *badly stifled laughter* why in the holy hell did you write you and enjolras to die holding hands” “…drama”

“Hey Grantaire, why don’t any of us have first names?” “…. don’t tell anyone, but I can’t remember Bahorel’s first name for the life of me, and it would be weird for me to ask now, wouldn’t it?”

Imagine trying to write a book to convince your buddies of the futility of revolution only to end up writing a total magnum opus that outlines revolution as both necessary and the only right thing to do.

And then writing yourself in as a character that symbolises not only the true moral victory of revolutionary action but also the eventual rise of all the indifferent and doubting people of Paris.
