i think people are really averse to the idea of professional obligation. but there's a difference between loyalty to an employer and responsibility inherent to the position you hold. some jobs are just jobs, and others are duties that need to be performed honorably. if you don't like that don't do that job.

people would have so much less hostility toward so many professions if they were generally characterized by a sense of service, like they ought to be

I feel bad for Wish because it doesn't look like it's going to be that bad of a movie, but it's gonna suffer nonetheless due to the company that is producing and distributing it's increasingly horrible reputation and terrible business decisions, compiled with the fact that the movie already doesn't look THAT intriguing with its Disney Junior-level of animation and cliché story in it and of themselves.

I saw a review on one of those sites that loves Disney (possibly because they're paid to, but I digress), and their response to Wish was, "Meh, it's okay." Which is what it looks like--an okay movie, but nothing that thrills or excites you particularly, and made by a company that is currently suffering a lot of bad public opinion which does not translate into amazing box office numbers. Sorry, Wish.

It occurred to Pooh and Piglet that they hadn't heard from Eeyore for several days, so they put on their hats and coats and trotted across the Hundred Acre Wood to Eeyore's house. Inside the house was Eeyore.

"Hello Eeyore," said Pooh.

"Hello Pooh. Hello Piglet" said Eeyore, in a Glum sounding voice.

"We just thought we'd check on you," said Piglet, "because we hadn't heard from you, and so we wanted to know if you were okay."

Eeyore was silent for a moment. "Am I okay?" he asked, eventually. "Well, I don't know, to be honest. Are any of us really okay? That's what I ask myself. All I can tell you, Pooh and Piglet, is that right now I feel really rather Sad, and Alone, and Not Much Fun To Be Around At All.

Which is why I haven't bothered you. Because you wouldn't want to waste your time hanging out with someone who is Sad, and Alone, and Not Much Fun To Be Around At All, would you now."

Pooh looked at Piglet, and Piglet looked at Pooh, and they both sat down, one on either side of Eeyore in his stick house.

Eeyore looked at them in surprise. "What are you doing?"

"We're sitting here with you," said Pooh, "because we are your friends. And true friends don't care if someone is feeling Sad, or Alone, or Not Much Fun To Be Around At All. True friends are there for you anyway. And so here we are."

"Oh," said Eeyore. "Oh." And the three of them sat there in silence, and while Pooh and Piglet said nothing at all; somehow, almost imperceptibly, Eeyore started to feel a very tiny little bit better. Because Pooh and Piglet were There. No more; no less.

A road name and a sign that says “the same in swedish”.

(Many road names in coastal Finland have swedish names too as Finland is a bilingual country.)

I miss the days when, no matter how slow your internet was, if you paused any video and let it buffer long enough, you could watch it uninterrupted

Have you heard about the new Robin Hood series on *shudders* CW?

It's named Robyn Hood (Get it? I'm reminded of all the toys and shows who tried to be cool by replacing ''S'' with a ''Z''.)

They gender and race swapped Robin Hood into a Black woman.

Is the only reason they decided to make the main character Black because of the ''hood'' in their name? Who's the racist one again?

To all the people who parrot how Robin Hood was stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. In the original book, the new king is taxing people to death and they just taking what was already theirs. Also, Robin Hood is one of those evil rich people because he's a gentleman. Back in the day, a gentleman wasn't just a man with good manners it was a title given to the man of nobility.

I hadn't heard of that and based on what you're saying I'm glad. I've always liked the Robin Hood story and it's the kind of story that is made to be retold over and over again but I will be happy to see woke "Robyn" Hood fail.

But man yeah the woke anti-racists can't even race swap without looking racist lmao.

The official description and posters are so bad they're almost funny.

Robyn is a rapper from New Nottingham who, along with her hip-hop band, The Hood, fights corruption in the city; together, they pull out all the stops to prevent the Sheriff and elite developers from preying on their people and community.

That sounds like they are just asking for a flop lol

abrahamic religions this abrahamic religions that. when will people stop lumping jews and muslims with christians...judaism and islam have never been the cause of colonization and imperialism the way christianity has. neither of those religions combined have brought suffering and pain the way christianity has

i…Do you…what…

no seriously is this something people legitimately think?

does the word “Constantinople” mean anything to you? seriously just curious.

Have you ever heard of the continent of Africa?

So many people think that all of history can be broken down into Star Wars-esque "Evil White Christian Empire vs. Good Brown Other Religions Resistance" terms and it's honestly so depressing.
