THRAWN: ASCENDANCY (2020—2021) STAR WARS: REBELS (2014—2018)
Headcanons about Thrawn because I just finished the trilogy and the first Ascendancy book
- Other than a lot of people think, Thrawn never actually minded the xenophobia of the Empire, as he already knew the concept from the Ascendancy; Chiss in general looked down on aliens, and while he himself never did so much, he saw them more as assets than as people.
- In his mind, Ar’alani has more or less taken the place of his disappeared sky-walker sister. She feels like family to him.
- He loves instructing and mentoring, helping people follow his logic, and in general he is quite good at it. Occasionally, though, he fails to see when someone can’t follow him.
- His political unawareness bothers him more than he lets on, and it is this insecurity that makes him somewhat naively strike deals with people like Pryce, hoping that they’ll help him master that part. It never works.
- Despite the concept of marriage and relationships being part of the Chiss culture just as much as it is part of other cultures, Thrawn never gives it even the slightest thought until he falls head over heels for Eli; and even then he actually doesn’t really think about it, having no clue how to handle those feelings. As such, not even Eli knows exactly what they are to each other, other than that there are clearly romantic feelings involved to the point that neither of them is free to date someone else.
- It never occurred to Thrawn to tell Eli his age or that their age gap could be in any way problematic, and as such it takes him by surprise that Eli needs to process it when he does find out.
- He loves each and every sky-walker he has ever been assigned, and always makes sure they are well-cared for. More than once he keeps track of what they do after outgrowing Third Sight.
- The TIE Defender is his grand project, his personal piece of art, and marks the first time he has ever been allowed to do something of his own outside of military missions, which means a lot to him. As such, any attack on it offends him personally, even if he tries not to show it.

In honour of completing Fallen Star a second time because I needed something to listen to during con crunch.
so clearly vernestra rwoh is extraordinarily accomplished and talented and amazing and a badass with a lightsaber whip.
but i have to think that at least a small part of the reason she became a jedi knight so young is because she didn’t just have stellan gios as her master, she had avar and elzar as her unofficial masters too. it’s a package deal type situation with those three.
so while most other padawans would occasionally get free time whenever their masters were busy, vernestra’s training never really paused because avar/elzar would just take over for stellan (against his wishes and/or knowledge, typically). they considered it their moral duty to broaden her knowledge in ways that stellan never would (some - stellan - might call it “corrupting” her mind, but really who’s to say which is correct?).
and whenever stellan referenced “my padawan” when talking to avar/elzar, you just know that they would stop him and say “no stellan, OUR padawan.” and he would look very offended each time and say “no, no, she’s MY padawan, if you want one then go ask the council for your own –” and then avar/elzar would just run away from the conversation.
in conclusion, vernestra rwoh is the unofficial child of the polycule.
I've started hearing whispers, about Thrawn's return, as heir to the Empire.
