men are so privileged they dont even realized how oppressed they really are

@casualfruit nah say it with ur chest cos u truly ate

They are so right it hurts. I had to be careful about how much physical love and affection I showed my nieces because I am a man. So many times I had to rein in my joy at being with them and my pride in their accomplishments because too much would be creepy or some other bullshit. Hell for that matter any of the women in my life we have to have carefully restrained love for one another.

Let me love the people in my life whole and truly. Please, I'm fuckin' begging.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

A departure from rigid, binary gender norms benefits all of us.

As a trans man, I decided what kind of man I wanted to be. I settled on "goofy-ass faggot" because conventional masculinity is so, so restrictive.

Welcome to tumblr's own AITA!

Asks are open and anon is on. Please submit your own stories to be judged by the court of tumblr! Each story will come with a poll, judgements are as follows:

YTA=You're the asshole NTA=Not the asshole JAH=Justified asshole NAH=No assholes here: everyone is some level of justified ESH=Everyone sucks here: you're all assholes INFO=Not enough information to judge

It’s Pride Month Eve, so leave out some milk for Freddie Mercury and his cats.

They’re looking at each other, comparing cats:

And Vincent Price was also bi so, y'know, let’s hear it for the bi pride catboys.

The real reason bisexuals have a reputation for being unable to sit properly on chairs is that they’re trying not to sit on the cat that was already on the cushion.

[ID: Two images; first image, Freddy Mercury, in a brightly-colored shirt, proudly displays two enormous cats, a longhaired Siamese and a marmalade tabby. Second image, Vincent Price, scowling dramatically and dressed in a tweed blazer, holds four cats at once, all of them facing away from the camera; two black cats on the ends and two grey cats in the middle.]

This site toppling the competition by opting to sell shoelaces instead of monetising their users must be one of the greatest examples of failing upwards in history

In the world of Bond Villain CEOs, the site run by Wile E. Coyote is king

an internal memo leaked from ceo steve huffman saying the "noise" of the blackout will die out and they just need to weather it until we give up. fuck you spez.

first of all it's OVER EIGHT THOUSAND subreddits that went dark.

second of all he clearly doesn't give one single shit about the users or the UNPAID army of mods who slog through a million miles of shit every day to keep illegal and offensive content off the site (i'm a mod in a small fandom subreddit and even the shit i've seen is beyond the pale) and therefore make it appealing to the advertizers.

you have no fucking business without us. and you don't care one single bit about it.

he clearly did not mean for this memo to leak, but someone at reddit thought it was important enough to send it out anyway. please spread it (spreddit?) especially because so much of reddit is still in blackout.

This feels very similar to the uproar they LITERALLY JUST HAD in the D&D community over changes that would have negatively impacted third party creators. People started canceling their subscriptions to the paid service and Wizards of the Coast really thought they could get away with it by issuing a weak apology and waiting it out.

The community got angrier, so WotC thought they could get away with it by backing down to a half measure.

The community got even ANGRIER.

WotC ended up backing down to such an extent that they not only canceled all of the planned changes but released their core material under a creative commons license to boot, putting them BEHIND their starting position.

This is what we should be aiming for. I've used reddit daily for like fifteen years, but sometimes the only thing you can do to save a community you love is to genuinely be willing to walk away until the corporate bigwigs in charge get it through their heads that they actually NEED users. I want to make this the year of companies fucking around and finding out that unhappy users can cause them problems. Starve the bastards out and make them realize they need us more.

June 15 is the anniversary of both the Night Vale and Gravity Falls pilots, as well as Vanessa Doofenshmirtz’s birthday and “give it up for day 15” day

happy birthday to the only things ever

And love händel reunion day and Linda and Lawrence’s anniversary

Hey.

The most day ever

The thing about the D&D movie which is absolutely genius is that the game mechanics basically insulate them against any of the most frustratingly fun sucking movie criticisms. “But why were the guards looking the wrong way?” Failed their perception check. “Why did the spell stop RIGHT before they would have died” Dropped concentration. It gets to be dumb and fun anyone that TRIES to be the plot hole police gets ever increasingly obscure D&D rulebooks thrown down in front of them and called a fake nerd. There's NOTHING those type of guys hate more than being a fake nerd. This movie is untouchable.

Friends at the Table is so good.

Trying to use an in-game ability that allows a player character to impact or influence others by using their true name, players get tangled up in a lengthy discussion of what a true name even is, especially in the context of Twilight Mirage’s complex worldbuilding regarding names, ranks and titles, and Austin suddenly goes:

“Maybe we should think about “true’ in a non-exclusive sense. Which is to say, my true name is– is Austin Walker. My true name is also when my dad picked me up and threw me in the air and said, “My boy!” That’s a true name for me.”

Holy shit. This is a guy who understands magic. Now I know what some of my true names are, and understand how they could be used to devastate me.

every time i have salmon it’s like. bears are right. i would also stand in a stream for this.

They are also right about: honey, berries, napping all winter, and lack of pants. So really, bears are just living the best life possible.

Your most important survival skill is asking for help

Goddamn preach this

"Your most important survival skill is asking for help." THIS, it makes me so damn pissed off when parents try and normalize that asking for help is a taboo thing!

“Perhaps you have forgotten. That’s one of the great problems of our modern world, you know. Forgetting. The victim never forgets. Ask an Irishman what the English did to him in 1920 and he’ll tell you the day of the month and the time and the name of every man they killed. Ask an Iranian what the English did to him in 1953 and he’ll tell you. His child will tell you. His grandchild will tell you. And when he has one, his great-grandchild will tell you too. But ask an Englishman—” He flung up his hands in mock ignorance. “If he ever knew, he has forgotten. ‘Move on!’ you tell us. ‘Move on! Forget what we’ve done to you. Tomorrow’s another day!’ But it isn’t, Mr. Brue.” He still had Brue’s hand. “Tomorrow was created yesterday, you see. That is the point I was making to you. And by the day before yesterday, too. To ignore history is to ignore the wolf at the door.”

I can't find the post but it said something like "biphobia will have bi women believe that society wants them to be lesbians, and lesbophobia will have lesbians believe that society wants them to be bi, but the truth is society doesn't want you to be bi or lesbian. they want you to be straight" or something like that. I saw it for the first time years ago and it's stuck with me because this mindset will genuinely resolve so much of queer infighting.

Allosexual queer people will believe that society wants them to be ace and aces will believe that society wants them to be allosexual queers, and the truth is society wants you to be allosexual but only sexually attracted to the right gender in the right way.

Trans men will believe that society wants them to be nonbinary, and nonbinary people will believe that society wants them to be binary trans, and the truth is society wants you to be cis.

And the thing is, there's some truth to "I would be more accepted if I was [this queer identity] instead of [that queer identity]," because there are groups of people who will want you to be a different queer identity. There are people who want their lesbian daughters to be bi because then they have a chance of marrying a man. There are allosexual gays who want to be ace because at least then they wouldn't be sexually attracted to their own gender, which is dirty and gross and wrong. There are people who want their trans male friends to be nonbinary because they think men are all evil.

Except there are also people who would rather bi women be lesbians because dating men makes them a traitor to the queer community, or aces who want to be allosexual and gay because if they can't be attracted to the opposite gender at least they'll be attracted to someone, and people who want their nonbinary friends to be binary trans because nonbinary people are made up and stealing resources.

Society at large doesn't want you to be any queer identity. They have a very narrow idea of what you should be, and so many ideas and rules telling you what you shouldn't be. And sometimes, people unlearn some of those rules but not others, depending on who they're around while forming these opinions. Some people will unlearn exorsexism but still drink the "men are evil" juice. Some people will unlearn homophobia but not amatonormativity.

So, sometimes queer people say things like "People would accept me more if I was [different queer identity]." And sure, some people would accept you more if you were that other identity. Except some people would accept you less. Maybe your parents would accept you more if you were bi instead of lesbian, but your friends would say being bi makes you a traitor.

And in the end, it doesn't matter, because there's way to win. "More accepted" is a very relative term. More accepted by some people, sure, but you won't be really be accepted unless you're not queer.

This is really really true. I’m saving this and keeping it to read for all the times *I* catch myself feeling this way, and sharing it because it’s something pretty much every LGTBQIA+ person could do with internalising.

people need to realize that widely accepted headcanons are still just headcanons. They do not magically become canon because 95% of the fandom agree with you.

I once had someone tell me I needed to just accept a headcanon about a character I liked (but saw very differently) because it was so wildly popular that it was “practically canon” and, like, don’t do this??

It’s *still* just a headcanon.
