knowing that nothing could ever really come of using tinder considering his occupation and, if he’s being honest, his general disinterest, it’s only fair that soap uses his old account for entertainment purposes during the really slow moments on base.
he and gaz will just endlessly swipe and make fun of profiles as a pastime because it’s fun, goddamnit, and soap is never going to meet these people, so what’s the harm?
none, is the answer—until they stumble upon a certain simon, 32 paired with photos that provide undeniable proof that their lieutenant is on the app.
soap and gaz pause, staring at each other for a long moment. the worst part of it all is that one, gaz knows about soap’s massive crush on ghost, two, gaz knows what photos are up on soap’s profile, and three—gaz is the one currently holding the phone.
the world moves in slow motion as soap tries to grab his phone before gaz swipes right. but he’s too late.

Gaz: Yes sir.

Gaz: So I can do this. Hey Soap! Are you in love with Ghost?
Soap covering his ears: No.
Ghost quickly caught on to why Soap would cover his ears when being asked questions. He looked the man right in the eyes, capturing his attention when he did.
“Are you in love with me?”
He hid his ears, “No.”
Ghost’s heart swelled as he leaned closer, “Do you love me?”
Soap swallows, not answering this time while he hands continued to hide his ears. Ghost stared deeply into his eyes, even closer to him now. He was looking down at him, his arms caging him against the wall.
“Do you love me?”
“No,” Soap said hesitantly.
Ghost couldn’t help but smile, the smile reaching his eyes. He knew Soap saw it, he could see it in his entire face as his lit up. Ghost whispered to him, a hand gently removing one of Soap’s hands so he could speak into his ear.
“I love you, too.”
Ghost leaves Soap standing there, eyes wide as he remains pressed against the wall. Ghost passed Gaz who laughs.
“Wow-“
“Shh, let him simmer.”
Gaz snickers and watches Ghost leave before turning to look back at Soap. Soap flushed a deep red, eyes sparkling with hope.

They were all infused at first, then they noticed the group chat’s name and sighed. Gaz hadn’t stuck around long enough for any of them to say something to him or ask any questions. So, while the dust was still settling, soap chose to break the ice.

- gaz has specific music if he wants to listen to something while he sleeps, soap can sleep to anything so they always share earbuds
- ghost listens to whatever shuffle puts on
- soap always takes up the most space + needs to cuddle SOMETHING
- ghost tries to stay awake & alert (book in hand, 1 earbud out) but he gets too cozy btwn them
- as the big strong boyfriend, ghost knows he should be looking out for them, he always gets this crushing anxiety about being unable to protect his team and his loved ones. With Soapgaz tho, he knows that his srgs are some of the most capable ppl, that can hold their own (and even protect him too) so when his eyes get heavy, for once in his life he feels comfortable just sleeping
