I’ve worked in the childcare industry for a good chunk of my life. One of my old co-workers was a teacher and someone asked her to come back to teaching but she said no. Why? Because she couldn’t afford childcare for her toddler.

Yes, daycares charge like $250 per day. And those tired daycare workers? Some of them get paid peanuts unless they have a degree. Daycares also have to provide toys, books and other materials on their own. I spend so much of my paycheck on stuff for the kids in my classroom, it was madness

So yeah it’s never been about the kids.
