Hello! I would like to ask for your permission for translation fanfic "Help Me, Leon". The text will be translated into Russian and published in one of the Russian sites of fanfiction. Specifying to you as the author and a link to the original will be.
Hi! First of all, thank you for asking to translate one of my fics. I'm super flattered. I know translation is a lot of work, and offering to do this will take you immense time and effort. That being said, I have had someone ask previously in DM to translate all the works in this series (3 in total, including Help Me, Leon) a little while ago and I turned them down for a few reasons. However, I'm willing to consider it as long as some conditions are met. Mostly, I want to make sure that I am properly credited in the form of linking my account directly. Otherwise, it's a no-go. We can discuss more in DM, if you want! I am just quite protective of my work. I know that may come off as self-centered or snobby, but my fics are like my actual babies. I hope that makes sense. <3
I write my fics out in Google Docs and then paste the text into Ao3 when I'm ready to post it. Does anyone else have the problem of pasting with italics? If there's a word in italics next to punctuation, Ao3 will add in a space for some reason and it's kind of infuriating.
One of the AO3 translation volunteers (Min) created a Google Docs script to handle issues when copying from a doc into AO3. It’s really easy to use
- create a copy of this google doc. It contains the script that will do all of the HTML formatting for you.
- Delete all of the text from the document.
- Write or paste your fic/chapter into the document.
- Go up to the top menu and click the new menu option Post to AO3, then choose Prepare for posting into the HTML editor
Note: because this is an apps script, you’ll need to give it permission to run the first time.
The script will automatically mark up your document with the required HTML that you can then paste into the AO3 composition window. \o/
To revert your text back to normal, just go back up to that menu and choose Remove HTML. It will look like regular text again.
Once you have the doc, you can make a new copy of it for each new fic you write and that way you’ll always have that script available when you need it :)

Not me recording my favorite cheeseball line again to demonstrate how the infinite rocket launcher is actual cheating, even in professional mode. I'm fucking wheezing.

Reminders for the Anxious/Depressed Creatives
- You’re more than what you make.
- Your productivity does not determine your value.
- It’s okay to do nothing sometimes.
- Not everything you do has to result in a product.
- Not everything you make has to be important, significant, or even good.
- You can make things just for yourself.
- You can keep secrets for yourself, whether it’s not posting some of your projects or not sharing your techniques.
- You’re allowed to say no.
- You’re allowed to rest.
2023 Updates:
- Inspiration doesn’t cure burnout. Rest cures burnout.
- People will wait for you; take your time and come back when you are ready.
- It’s okay to scrap projects that no longer excite you, even if other people like them.
- It’s delightful and excellent to be openly proud of your work.
- Afford yourself the same gentleness that you would afford another creative - negative self-talk is counterproductive and frankly cruel.
- Self-indulgent creations are satisfying to others as well; don’t apologize for your own pleasure.
- Actually, don’t apologize for your work at all.
No author is entitled to comments, to interaction, to reblogs or likes or reviews or anything, but in a community where you’re essentially a bunch of indie writers, that’s the lifeblood that keeps people *posting*. Writing doesn’t necessarily stop, but when someone feels like no one gives a shit whether you’re sharing or not, you quit sharing.
In the simplest possible terms: creators aren’t entitled to your support, but you’re also not at all entitled to their creations.
If you want content, support content creators.
Even better: stop viewing your fellow fans creating things as content creators. We are not on YouTube and we do not get money for this.
Support your fellow fans by letting them know— human to human— that you enjoyed what they did. If we stop putting people who create on pedestals, maybe we can kill the influencer culture that’s invaded fandom.
Probably gonna delete all the text from my fic posts and link them to Ao3 instead. Just have to find the motivation to do it. Lmao.
Reminder that if you want to complain about something you see in free fan content that you think is cliche or overdone, considering instead
1) Moving on to different content
2) Removing your entitled head from your ass
And if you end up equating mundane cliches you're annoyed at seeing in fan content with somehow encouraging and perpetrating negative aspects of society as a whole, consider instead
1) Touching grass. Eating grass. Getting down in there and SNORTING grass for the love of fuck
