someone asked me a while ago how I draw slugcats and I wanted to make a huge guide going into how I rationalize their anatomy but I’ve been so busy w college I haven’t been able to touch it in like a month! So I decided to post these few notes I had! One day I’ll get back and make an entire guide but for now have these little notes :)

Animals I tend to gravitate towards for slugcat references are: otters, weasels, cats, and monkeys!

Also this isn’t me saying this is what their anatomy is, more so how I think of it and what landmarks I use when I draw!

People with siblings or know a pair of siblings I've got a question for you

the other day I had a conversation with a guy who said sibling friendships don't really count bc that's family and I'm just like, ??? yeah that's my family but I can also like my sister as a person and have a friendship with her. So I'm just curious to see what the general vibe here is.

btw the "it's complicated" option is for ppl who are either estranged siblings, parenting their siblings, or some other issue they've got going on not any weird freak shit(ifkyk)

Anyways choose your option and if want you can explain in the tags

My friend sometimes brings her six-year-old to our DnD sessions and my husband (the DM) lets her roll for all enemy attacks and sometimes he will show her a few figures and let her secretly pick what creature we meet next. Who needs encounter tables when you have a first-grader around

She cheers when the monster is winning.

DM: *places an ugly, slavering, repugnant, spine-tingling creature on the battle map*

Child who can barely see over the table: ᵗʰᵃᵗ’ˢ ᵐᵉ :)

gamerbros be like “im not a transphobe but if you acknowledge that trans people exist in your game i will absolutely refuse to play it or stop immediately if i am currently playing it”

Is the post about that one boomer game reviewer who was seething over a game’s dlc having a scene with 2 10 pixel sized pride flags?

You left out the best part

I’m getting fed up with this whole “feminism as an identity” thing. Time for “feminism as an action.”

So instead of asking “can a feminist do x?” ask “is doing x a feminist action!”

Can a feminist take her husband’s last name? Mu. Null. Question un-valid, please un-ask question.

Is taking your husband’s last name a feminist action? No it isn’t. It doesn’t challenge the patriarchy in anyway, it is the status quo thing to do, it is what is expected of women, and it carries a lot of historical baggage about ownership and shit like that.

But that’s okay, your life choices don’t have to be 100% dictated by your politics unless you want them to. And it’s okay to really want to take his name while recognizing that you also want to do the feminist thing and keep your own, and it’s okay to feel conflicted and have a hard time making the choice. But no more of this enabling “as long as I made the choice myself it is a feminist choice” -bullshit. Own your choices, even the ones that aren’t informed by your feminist politics. You are still a human being and people do shit that contradicts their politics and even interests all the time. Just stop pretending that everything you do is feminist because you are a feminist, that’s not how it works.

^^this is why bell hooks challenges us to say “i support feminist movement” or “i support feminist action” rather than “i am a feminist.” she says that once we say “i am a feminist” and make “feminist” an identity rather than a political movement or a set of beliefs and the actions resulting from those beliefs, we can become complacent and think the battle is over.

So why does feminism not mean anything anymore? Where did we lose our way? Feminist historians have lots of answers—as a lapsed one myself, I can certainly rattle off moments in history that feel like the moment it all went wrong: Women’s Liberation Movement conferences gone awry, political campaigns that relied too much on the American legal system, the election of Margaret Thatcher… All of these feel like good answers to the question, they sound nice and clever, and importantly, they absolve us in the present day of any responsibility. The truth is, as bell hooks writes, far more mundane than any Singular Event, but rather the professionalisation and institutionalisation of feminism. “The dismantling of consciousness-raising groups,” she writes, “all but erased the notion that one had to learn about feminism and make an informed choice about embracing feminist politics to become a feminist advocate.” When “feminist’ became a viable career choice, feminists who staked their livelihoods on it needed to ensure that those livelihoods weren’t taken away from them; the radicalism inherent to feminism, a radicalism borne of criticising the status quo, or proposing, defending, and living out alternatives to patriarchy, all became untenable—it’s very hard to kick out against the structures of patriarchal oppression when it is the patriarchy itself that pays your bills. But that’s a bad narrative, it’s an uncomfortable one, and it implies that, in some small way, feminism (and by extension, feminists, including the individuals who now cash their paycheques in its name) failed. Rather than radicalising feminism, it was necessary to universalise it, to make it palatable (and marketable!) to as many people as possible, to ensure that feminists could feel like they’d succeeded even if in practical terms, they hadn’t.

Kabru trying his usual approach to undermining people against Laios is so funny. It’s like he’s a grandmaster at chess, poker, and everything else that requires mind-games coming up to a guy, fully expecting to beat him at any game under any circumstances, only to realize he didn’t prepare for the one thing he’d actually be faced with, which is a hotdog eating contest against a guy whose friends call him “the vacuum cleaner”.
