i hate it when i cant even write a poem about something because its too obvious. like in the airbnb i was at i guess it used to be a kids room cause you could see the imprint of one little glow in the dark star that had been missed and painted over in landlord white. like that's a poem already what's the point

you get it. you get the themes. i dont have time to do it justice. just look at it its on the ceiling

these exchanges and this fiddling about for the collective to appreciate in passing is, to me, true artistic spirit. I don't know what the past was truly like to live, but in my heart i know that humans have always been... like this

i see a post talking doom and gloom about how we'll never escape toxic masculinity. i think about back in 2017 when american girl released their first boy doll, and a review for him went viral in the collecting community. the review was written by a mom, who said they went into the store to get their daughter a doll, only to see their son's eyes light up like fire when he saw a doll that looked like him, and now every night he puts his doll in pajamas and rocks him to sleep. i think about the toddler in my daycare room a few years back who was obsessed with baby dolls, carrying them everywhere, and his mom proudly told us he uses his sisters' old baby dolls and wants to be just like them. that toddler saw another toddler crying one day and gave her the doll he had to cheer her up. i think about the eight-year-old boy i saw a few years back, excitedly waving around raya's sword in a target checkout line like all his dreams were coming true. there was a video on my instagram the other day of a little boy at disneyworld crying with joy upon meeting his hero, mulan. i think about the voice actor for bow in the she-ra reboot saying his nephews only wanted adora action figures. celebrity men are wearing dresses on tv now. last halloween i saw a little boy dressed as elsa. i went to go see spiderverse over the summer, and in the line ahead of me was a boy who couldn't be older than twelve or thirteen, bouncing and beaming, giddy with excitement over getting to see the female-led romance movie elemental. i think about the five-year-old boy at my library who breathlessly asked me where the pinkalicious books were, eyes widening when i had more on my cart, his mom explaining that he is all about pinkalicious and fancy nancy. i saw so many pictures online of boys and men dressed in pink to see barbie. teenage boys are gonna open their phones and see the man who wrote fucking game of thrones dressed in pink to see barbie. when i was a kid, a boy dressing in pink was practically a social death sentence. there are boys running around in pink on my street right now.

Reading Comprehension Questions

  1. Did OP say that misogyny had ended completely because of boys wearing pink?
  2. Did OP say that men who wear pink cannot possibly do anything wrong?
  3. Was this entire post about men wearing pink or just the last few sentences?
  4. Does it seem like OP is suggesting we all fall into a matriarchal misandric dictatorship? Use quotes to support your answer. Anon if this is you you have a 250 word minimum and three hours before the saw trap goes off

With the summer heat rolling in I really wanted to take a moment and highlight a program I am a big fan of, A.N.E.

"Adopt-A-Native-Elder (A.N.E.) serves to help reduce extreme poverty and hardship facing traditional Elders living on the Navajo Reservation. A.N.E. is a trusted humanitarian organization focused on delivering food, medical supplies, firewood and other forms of Elder support. Respecting the tradition and dignity of Navajo Elders, we create relationships and honor and serve the Elders. The Program is organized in the Native American Spirit of the Giveaway Circle. The Giveaway Circle has a tradition of giving the best that we have. That may be a gift of time, talents or skills, or actual gifts of food and donations. When asked what the boxes of food meant to her, Ruth Benally explained that they were like "miracles from the sky." The miracle is the letters and gifts that arrive from people that they don't know and may never meet. For over 30 years, Adopt-A-Native-Elder has used an integrated approach to go beyond charity to assist indigent Elders on the Navajo Reservation in Utah and Arizona."

A.N.E also puts on an annual rug show & sale, you can read about last years here. Apart from their annual events they also host an online shop where you can buy jewelry, woven baskets, and elder made rugs. All proceeds go towards providing support for our elders be it food, medical assistance, firewood, weaving supplies and so much more.

Not in the market for beautifully made Indigenous crafts? Well they also accept general donations, buy specific items for elders in need, food certificate sponsors, rug show sponsors, and of course adopting an elder.

The Herero of Namibia

This style of dress was introduced during the German/Herero conflict in the early 20th century, when nearly 80 percent of the Herero population was wiped out. Though the European-style attire was originally forced upon the Herero people, it has since become a tradition and point of pride. “If a warrior killed a German soldier he would take and wear their uniform as a badge of honor, and to ‘take’ or appropriate their power,” Naughten explained in an email. “A version of these uniforms is worn by Herero men today at festivals and ceremonies, to honour the fallen ancestors and to keep the memories alive.”

The Herero women adopted the German missionaries’ Victorian-style floor length gowns, but they eventually incorporated the vivid colors and cow-horn-shaped headdress (to represent the Herero’s respect for cattle) you see today. After a woman is married, she is expected to make most of her dresses, often from the offcuts of other garments. These voluminous, patchwork outfits are considered every-day attire, while dresses made from a single material are reserved for special occasions. In the book’s introduction, Lutz Martin writes: “Rounded to resemble healthy cows, the dresses contain up to 10 metres of cloth, despite summer temperatures reaching 50 degrees celsius [122 degrees Fahrenheit].”

To get [the] portraits [for his book Conflict and Costume, photographer Jim] Naughten immersed himself in Herero culture. He and his guide traveled from village to village, asking permission of the elders to photograph. In turn, he would be invited to weddings, funerals and ceremonies where would he set up his equipment and snap shots of passersby against the Namibian landscape. Naughten said he lost track of how many people he photographed (it was a lot), but he does recall that most everyone was excited to show off their garb.

Hey. Why isn’t the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isn’t that fucked up? Does anyone else think that’s absurd?

It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!

It’s July 20th. That’s the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. I’m ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and I’m going to have a goddamn potluck. You’re all invited.

Hey. Hey. Tumblr. Ides of March ppl. We can do this

PITCH: We call it Moon Day, and then every 7 years when it falls on a Monday, that's an even BIGGER deal and we call that Moon Day Monday and go absolutely apeshit about it (the next Moon Day Monday is in 2026 so we have a couple trial runs first)

MOON DAY MOON DAY MOON DAY

MOON DAY!!!!

MOON DAY

But the times when it falls on a monday will not be every 7 years because we have leap years

A little about the Final space graphic novel updates from last week. Warning: some of this might not make much sense.

(spoilers ahead? Pages from the official website and instagram)

The pages were like a slap in my face, and it seems like I wasn't the only one becuase I saw a lot of other people being shocked that he will die (again). Now, it would be a way too big spoiler to show one of the main and fan favorite character dying, no? And Olan said he won't share too much spoiler (in different posts)

So this made me question this scene. It's not likely for him to die in this scene. There's still a chance he will die, but probably a different way. I think these pages are supposed to mislead us, so we'll be more excited about the graphic novel. Just a "I'm giving you a carrot with this so you don't look at the cake in my other hand" thing. Clever. But what will happen to him? Will he get rescued? We can see a shadow of two tryvuulians but we don't know their intentions becuase the text bubbles are blank. Or maybe they save him again with time travel? I'm 200% there will be time travel/timelines fuckery in the graphic novel. I don't know why, I just have a feeling. I don't like the idea of saving Avocato with time travel again. It would be a lazyly reclyced idea.

He also said this about him, implying he will be a likeable character. But that doesn't mean he'll be on "the good guys" side. But Avocato was/is a fan favorite so it's safe to assume many wouldn't like a character who kills the fave. So what is he didn't actually kill him? I saw someone in an instagram comment section tell their theory, that this could just be a dream that torments Avocato becuase of guilt. It don't know how much is that possible but interesting for sure.

But if anyone else has theories of what will happen I'm listening

This is making me cry

It’s like it’s physically fighting her-

and she is losing in the most horrific way possible

It’s a straight up one sided smack down, first time it’s like it punched her and is throwing her about and then she’s just crying on the floor, second time it’s like she’s getting fucking choked by an invisible force

This is straight up like if an invisible man was abusing her

WHY DID SHE GO BACK FOR SECONDS
