Hi Zoey. Asking from a place of ignorance, could you please explain why Threads is dogshit?

Threads is the Hot New Garbagedump by Certified Scum Of The Earth and Facebook/Meta owner Zuckerburg. It is like if twitter was even worse.

There is ONLY a For You page, meaning you can never just see the posts from your followed accounts who, yknow, you followed for the purpose of seeing their posts. You can't see those. you have to see the algorithm's posts ONLY. You also require an instagram to get full access to all the features like Posting Images. You need a separate social media account to properly access this new social media. And once you've done so, the only way to delete your Threads account, is to delete you instagram account. The Whole Thing. For Some Fucking Reason. Not to mention, obviously since it's zuckerburg, the thing syphons your personal information like crazy, worse still than twitter.

Like ALL your data. as much as it can get. (Love that it says "Other Data" btw. Nice subtle way of saying "whatever else we want") ALSO wouldn't you know it? It's fucking banned in the EU because it violates a bunch of fucking privacy laws!! So it's DEFINITELY not safe to use!

It is as predatory and exploitative as can be, created by someone that we collectively agreed Sucks Shit and Has No Empathy For Human Life and Individuality, and nobody should be touching it with a ten foot pole let alone sign up for it. Not even to test the waters or because it's where everyone is heading, or to see how bad it is for yourself. It doesn't matter if you're joining to get an account ready in case the platform ends up the new big thing. You're feeding the statistics. Even if you're not using that account, Zuckerburg can show the number of signups to shareholders and investors to prove to them that it's viable. Instead of jumping on the bandwagon in case it succeeds, inform people why they shouldn't join, to reduce its chance of success! It's like strikes and protests; The more of us get the word out, the more effective it'll be!

"In some very important ways, however, Threads is different from Twitter. Most obviously, users have no real control over the content they see. Whereas Twitter users self-curate, at least partly, by deciding what accounts to follow, Threads' content is currently controlled entirely by algorithms."

are you fucking kidding me? WOW! THIS is what people are clamoring to sign up for?? WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE! im legitimately shocked people are ok with this.

Yep."

whenever people criticize stampede for differences from 98 or trimax i'm always like HOLD ON LET THEM COOK because of stuff like this. i actually have so much more confidence in studio orange for getting stuff right later on in the series than i normally would bc of stuff like this (like for trans adult elendira, or chunky livio/razlo, and obviously for milly).

like look at THIS, where they took an ENTIRE visual and musical storytelling motif from ONE PANEL of the manga. they're COOKING on levels unimaginable.

The stampede version of Vash looks like that one post that’s like “I kissed a very attractive twink only to find out they were a lesbian who thought I was also a lesbian”

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

i haven't seen this here yet so heads up

Please note that Section 11 of the Terms below contains a binding arbitration agreement and class action waiver for users in North and South America. 11. Arbitration Agreement and Class Action Waiver

If you’re upset with us, let us know, and we’ll work together in good faith to resolve your issue. But if we can’t work it out, then you and Etsy (including our employees, officers, directors, agents, subsidiaries, and affiliates) agree to submit our disputes exclusively to binding individual arbitration, and we won’t sue each other in court before a judge or jury, except in the limited circumstances described below.

This Section 11 (which we’ll also refer to as the “Arbitration Agreement” or “Agreement”) applies only if you are a user in North or South America, and applies to the fullest extent allowable by law.

G. Opt out. You have a limited right to opt out of this Arbitration Agreement (excluding Section 11.I). Specifically, if you are a new user of our Services, you can opt out of this Arbitration Agreement within 30 days after you first accept the Terms. If you validly opt out, neither Etsy nor you will be required to arbitrate as a result of this (or any prior version of the) Arbitration Agreement, but the Terms (and any other agreements between us) will otherwise apply to you. If we update the Terms after you validly opt out, we will continue to respect your opt-out, but such updates do not provide a new opportunity to opt out of arbitration.

to find your username (because apparently it only appears in *one* location if you've at ANY POINT given them a name to use for you and I spent like 15 minutes looking for it) click your profile and the url will be:

etsy.com/people/USERNAME

and that's what you need to stick in the username field.

something that rly creeps me out…..occasionally ill see videos or articles for christians or christian missionaries that say something like “what you need to do is make friends with non christians and really get them to trust you and THEN you start preaching to them and bringing them to jesus” and that is….man how much would it hurt to know that the only reason someone’s hanging out with you is to convert you to a religion you were never interested in. maybe this is a real friend, someone you really really feel like you connect to, and all of a sudden you cant hang out with them without being scared they’ll bring out the jesus stuff.

charlie youre blowing my third eye WIDE open

hahahaha like a year ago I tweeted “Christianity’s attitude toward Jews resembles nothing so much as the attitude of a man toward a woman who won’t fuck him” and people got SO MAD at me

If you are thinking about it on paper, the bus running every half hour doesn't sound so bad, until you're waiting at the stop and you miss a bus or it's delayed. Then you're waiting a very, very long time. To people who never take transit, that's probably fine. Why do you care. To people who only take transit, they're expecting it, it's baked in their lives. But the important part, what really impacts our cities, is what happens to people for whom transit is an option.

The spiral goes like this. You go to take the bus instead of driving, thinking "I'm going to o have a couple drinks" or "I don't want to worry about parking where I'm going." So you take bus. First bus is right on time. But then you transfer from your neighborhood line to the line that takes you where you actually want to go. And your bus is delayed. And it only comes every 30 minutes. And then you're waiting, 40 minutes later, wondering where your bus is, knowing you could have driven there in 20 minutes.

Why would you ever chose to take a bus again? The bus made you waste precious time on your day off just sitting there. So next time you drive. Ridership goes down. When the transit authority asks for more money for more buses and more drivers, people point to the ridership numbers and say "why should we pay for this instead of paying for our schools/police/baseball stadium/parks/police again (let's be real that's who's taking all the money)?" If we want to increase ridership we need to actually design and fund functional transit networks. If we want people to actually ride the bus we need to make it a better option than driving, which means reliable service, which you don't get with a bus every 30 minutes.

Every 15 minutes, everywhere, all of the time.

i think i'm in the denial stage of grief over the fact that there are actually people interested in the threads thing. like there's no way right

rinsing the sink, running the garbage disposal, fork balanced on bowl slips off and slides into the drain, subconscious reflexes kick in as I shut disposal off just in time, staring at fork, only conscious thought in brain is pitch perfect recreation, ten years buried, like i tripped and hit play on a dusty tape recorder lying forgotten in the room, of let's do the fork in the gaaarbage disposal!! dingdingdingdidingdingding

There really is no feeling quite like discovering a new song that fits your blorbo to a T. Best I can do to convey it is something like

Shoutout to the person who reblogged this 185 times in a row. I understand completely.
