When I was a kid, my mom always hated that Candy Kong was a gorilla, but still had to have curves so you'd know she was the "girl" one. And yeah, fair, that's sexist as hell. But, recently, I got to thinking...

Is it ever explicitly said that Candy Kong is a gorilla?

Sure, she's a Kong, but that also encompasses Diddy and Dixie, who are apparently some kind of monkey and a chimp. To be a Kong, you just need to be a simian resident of Kong Island.

So. She's not a gorilla. She has the simian snout, and body hair, but she also has feet that are halfway between simian and human, long legs, and humanoid breasts...

My God.

Candy Kong is an Australopithecus.

every time i design a new female character: "sorry again, women, about candy kong"

in sixth grade my homeroom teacher caught this kid stephen saying, “that’s so gay.”

so he told the class that for the rest of the week, anytime you wanted to express something negatively, you could say, “that’s so stephen.”

and it started out as a joke, where even this stephen kid was going around using it, laughing at it, not really caring. it was funny, i guess.

but then one of his friends got a bad mark on a test and said, “that’s so stephen.”

we had a blacktop recess and everyone kept saying, “that’s so stephen.”

and when we got too loud doing groupwork and had to separate and work silently, everyone in the class kept muttering, “that’s so stephen.”

and the weirdest part was that even though it was just a word we were using, even though it had nothing to do with stephen, we all sort of blamed stephen.

and as everyone kept using “that’s so stephen,” all week, you could see stephen himself finding it less and less funny. we played a game called “pamplemousse” in french class and everyone got stephen out right away if they could. someone literally went and found one of stephen’s art projects when nobody else was around and ruined it so he had to start over.

and when my homeroom teacher found out about it, he sat everyone down and told us that it wasn’t okay to say “that’s so stephen” anymore. that the things we’d been blaming him for weren’t his fault and the things we’d been doing to him weren’t fair.

he told us that stephen couldn’t help it that he was stephen. he didn’t choose to be stephen. he was born stephen.

and that’s when it clicked.

we all felt pretty stupid, i think, for sort of falling for it, but i’ll be damned if i’ve ever had a teacher get a lesson across so utterly and completely as mr. bernard did.

it hadn’t even been the full week.

reblog to make it die faster

We need to go back a few years to whatever era of depressing off-the-shits indie horror this was and I am not even remotely joking

HOW COULD I FORGET ABOUT “DISCOVER MY BODY”

Tbf it’s relatively more recent than the other 3 games so hopefully there will be more games like this soon

I’m sorry that I turned this post into a thread of weird horror that I actually like but if you’re a fan of sci-fi short stories please I beg of you read Computer Friendly by Eileen Gunn (there’s a link to the story somewhere on this page) and Patient Zero by Tananarive Due they both live in my head rent free

my favs have to be Rediger, a sound novel (similar to a visual novel without the visuals) which is about a 10 minute play

And of course, obligatory Kitty Horrorshow!! Overall interesting experiences with good good writing

Also if you want Playstation styled bloody horror check out @puppetcombo and the work they create/produce. :3

If I could swoop in with some visual novels? Scarlet Hollow (steam link) is amazing. Rich, layered characters, creepy Appalachian folklore, some very dark themes and stunning art.

There’s an upcoming game by the same artist called Slay the Princess that looks great too. I also really enjoyed Grotesque Beauty (steam link) and Cooking Companions (steam link).

And I also recommend Meeting In The Flesh and Parasite In Love for some really unique horror takes on a dating sim. (I mean REALLY, genuinely unique, I promise they aren’t a couple of Doki Doki Literature Club knockoffs.)

people on tiktok don't even KNOW the addams family .. they're not murderous evil violent hateful people they are a loving and caring and goofy family who love humanity they just happen to be goth and can't die and have a pet lion. you will never be them.

“Take a shower, wash off the day. Drink a glass of water. Make the room dark. Lie down and close your eyes. Notice the silence. Notice your heart. Still beating. Still fighting. You made it, after all. You made it, another day. And you can make it one more. You’re doing just fine.”
