actually i CAN back trans rights and still criticize the cosmetic surgery industry. these ideas aren’t contradictory. i went to a plastic surgeon for top surgery, and i’m grateful that i was able to get that done, but going through that process put an even sharper focus on the fact that an 18 year old cis girl could get breast augmentation with a fraction of the hoops i had to jump through.
i CAN still support my trans sisters’ rights to get ffs while also speaking up about how it is routine in my culture for 13 year old girls to receive rhinoplasty. and honestly i’m kind of insulted by the idea that in order to speak about one i have to shut up about the other.
