THE STROKES at Transilvania, Milano // 15.12.2005
ohseptember If you know me, you knew this was coming. September 28, 2001 Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel Providence, RI My friend Jon & his roommate agreed to rent the car with myself, Jenn & an acquaintance along for the ride. We met up with Jenn’s friends who came to the show from Boston & stood up front together. As my first Strokes show, it was everything I hoped it would be & more. Intense. Hot. Sweaty. Rough. So classically rock'n'roll Julian jumped into the crowd to punch a heckler mid-set. The after show was like living out the best Almost Famous dream, hanging out backstage till the venue kicked us out at 1:30 a.m. I joked about the lack of groupies hiding under the stage. Julian lovingly gave Ryan shit for letting so many fans backstage again. They vented about England (& their bacon). Fab told us how he really broke his hand. Most memorable moment(s) of the night: how each of the guys remarked “shit! there’s no more beer?!” each time one of them opened the fridge that night. These moments in time, the crazy antics & the friendships made make up some of the best times of my life. Through all the hype & fame, the guys remained just as nice & down to earth as that first night. Always friendly, warm, funny & kind to us crazy adoring kids. ❤️
