Just a Bunch of Reblogs

@dusky-reblogs

@evening-art 's blog for reblogs. Feel free to follow!

D&D has become so much more fun since it clicked for me that I'm not the character, I'm the writer in charge of the character

If you're the character, bad rolls and bad calls reflect badly on you. You want to Win because that means you're doing D&D right, and if things go wrong, it's because you're doing it wrong.

If you're the writer, your number one job is to do things to your character that the character does not like because that gives them the chance to be interesting.

On a scale of this to Barnyard Dick Tits Song how are you handling your cartoon being canceled?

the

what

I was originally just gonna reblog because of the top tart of the post, but the clip is legitimately funnier than any stand up I've even heard, i actively cannot breathe i can't let anybody notice me laughing, lest they ask what I'm laughing about

Dick tits should be turned into a full song and declared the trans national anthem

So what this paint company does is take iron pollution from abandoned mines that are polluting soils and rivers and makes iron based red pigment paints out of it.

Basically they realized hey no one's cleaning this shit up, it's polluting the streams, killing all the fish, making the water undrinkable and there's a huge market for it so why not make money by cleaning it the fuck up?

They remove this stuff by the industrial bucket load from the rivers. The idea is if it's in a painting, if it's in your home, it's not poisoning wildlife.

anyway its cool as shit, please support tf out of these people https://gamblinstore.com/reclaimed-earth-colors-set/

we can argue about queer rep in media until the heat death of the universe (and we will!) but u gotta admit: when someone says ‘the gay pirate show’ or ‘the gay vampire show’ or ‘the cartoon with the girlfriends with magic powers’ and you have to say “which one?” it feels pretty good

also please note that this scientist is in fact the retired man who invented the xbox.

oh fuck i listened to a podcast that was interviewing him and the process he went through to make this bread, ologies with allie ward like he went through full on clean room levels of prep to ensure that this was 100% yeast from old egypt and had to bend over backwards to ensure everything involved was uncontaminated he then revealed that the original xbox logo...

is a sourdough boule

Alternative names for fantasy “golems”?

Since it started as an inconsiderate name grab from Judaism that who’s most famous example was something built to fight against racists and prevent genocide into a mere monster.

While there are more dangerou golems, they were generally monstrous due to being overly literal or “what is life?” philosophy questions.

“Construct” in general is probably good.

Maybe individual less generic names

Puns based on golems are fine I feel to an extent.  And similar concepts aren’t inherently anti-Semitic, but you know…

From dwollsadvantures

Shabti? Or ushabti, ancient egyptian statues made to serve their master after death. Their legs are inscribed with affirmations of how they serve, sort of like a golem’s chem. They are religious, but a religion that hasn’t been really practiced for thousands of years

“Homunculus” (plural “Homunculi”) can mean “fake human”, “model of a human” (like an anatomy dummy), or “human shaped statue”, which feels appropriate for “magical object given a semblance of life”.

Kratt

Creature made of hay or tools animated by the devil in exchange for three drops of blood, from Estonian folklore.

They labor endlessly, but must be kept busy lest they turn on their creator. They fit the minion-of-an-evil-wizard role very well, and naturally fill that “magical robot” niche.

Item: animated toolset (but watch out)

Homunculus, automaton, construct, bound elemental, demonic minion, awakened object

I would hesitate on ushabti in a fantasy world where the POV characters are roughly-European, personally, because while there’s no continuously-practiced religion, there is a culture and language to which that word belongs, and it’s jarring if no other elements of Fantasy Egypt are kicking around.

#it’s only a golem if it comes from the judean region of canaan #otherwise it’s just a sparkling construct
