As someone who will never join Threads, I find there to be something exceptionally insidious about the part of its dogshit privacy practices where it collects users’ contact data.

A lot of people have my phone number, and not all of them take privacy seriously. A few of them are bound to join Threads at some point. This means I never even have to join the platform for it to collect my full name, contact info, current or past address, and reconstruct at least part of my social and/or professional circle. Despite the fact that I have never agreed to any of this, it is completely legal since people with my contact info have consented to Meta collecting their (and therefore my) info. I hate it here 🫠

i'm literally the priest's favorite sacrificial lamb because i am so docile and sweet and i hold very still when they put the rope around my neck and i trot along so happily while they lead me to the altar and they do not even have to tie me down because i lie so very still and only bleat once or twice in my lovely lamb voice and when the knife comes down it cuts through me like butter and i offer no resistance and i bleed so prettily all over my new white wool and my guts all unspool like the most beautiful shining yarn and my eyes are animal and dumb and hold no accusation and every time i die i come right back as another little lamb because the priest loves me so so much and he always chooses me for the sacrifice every time and he always places one hand on my small and twitching nose to calm me while he lifts the knife and he doesn't do it for the other lambs only me because i'm his favorite

my brain because I’ve spent too much time on the internet: I should write a slam poem about how the curiosity rover is my enemy
my brain in ten years when I have hopefully quit the internet entirely: I love my wife and have forgotten what inflation fetish means

twitter is hell but i really hope it doesn’t actually die because this is in contention for the funniest thing i’ve ever read in my life

this post fails to show the original tweet that this was in reply to, which is not as jarring but certainly should be included:

Concept art for a potential EarthBound/Mother sequel, pitched to Nintendo by Monolith Soft circa 2003. Intended to be released for the GameCube, the game was going to sport a cute felt craft aesthetic. Shigesato Itoi had no interest in pursuing the project at the time, so it was never picked up by Nintendo.
