Who painted the sky?
-a romcom-
Pairings:Armin Arlert & Annie Leonhart, Armin Arlert/Annie Leonhart, Armin Arlert & Hitch Dreyse, minor/background Reiner Braun/Hitch Dreyse
Summary:
It was supposed to be a simple summer for Annie: take the train, get to camp, deal with brats for three months, go home. She’d figure life out afterwards.
Then Armin Arlert entered the scene: ray of sunshine, romcom fan and optimist. Very stubborn as well. He made it his goal to brighten Annie’s stay at camp, while also doing his best to prove to her that not all rom-coms have to be the same.
She was skeptical of his preposition at first- but who knows what fate holds?

As a fic author can we talk about readers who follow you to fandoms they don’t even know because i would hand my firstborn child to them

okay, i've had enough character development. now i want a nice peaceful life with my soulmate.

i think deciding to love someone continually is like reading the same book again, but each time finding a different line that hits deep and makes you think about something you didn't realize before. and you decide to read it again and again, knowing you'll never get enough of it, knowing you'll always find something new about them to love.

I took my dad to pride today. After asking him and saying what itt might entail, I made him a free dad hugs sign:

While walking there, a lot of people pointed at him and said it was a cute idea. They were right.

My (and his) personal highlights were:

  • A guy hugging him and saying something in Ukrainian (bc of the flag, probably)
  • Someone asking him if they can call him "daddy" (I had to explain to him why I started laughing. He now knows.)
  • Someone giving him a rose
  • Someone kissing him on the cheeck
  • A lot of people seeing me standing around awkwardly while there was a line forming in front of him and hugging me too
  • A guy my dad's age hugging him with tears in his eyes
  • A kid my age shouting "I don't have a father!", Running towards and almost tackling him
  • A guy in a fetish-related dog mask hugging him and clinging to him like a lifeline
  • Two children between eight and ten initiating a group hug with him and giggling the entire time
  • Everyone thanking him afterwards and a lot of people saying he gives the best hugs in the world. One guy said he'd never been hugged like that before
  • This guy in a moving lorry shouting and making the lorry stop driving to get a hug from my dad:

My dad said that the majority of people hugging him were either older (25-60) queer men or younger (15-25) trans people. He really loved the experience and felt like a lot of the people, especially the older guys really needed it.

Anyway we're definitely doing this again next year

Annie always wakes up at night , she looks at Armin if he is awake too or not , he is usually a sleep , so Annie stays awake and stares at him while he sleeps , sometimes .. she approaches him .. and hugs him slowly, thinking.. how she ended up with someone as perfect like Armin ?

i just saw a video on tiktok of someone complaining about fanfic writers who have the ✨audacity✨ not to complete a fic. that it’s rude, it’s inconsiderate, it’s disrespectful of the readers emotional investment. and then a whole bunch of commenters saying underneath that this is why they won’t read incomplete fics, that they’ve seen authors go from updating every week to horror of horrors only every month. and because i am a wise and mature individual i’m not going to stitch the video dragging them to hell but instead i’m coming here to you beloved tumblr dot com to bitch behind their back

because i know we’ve said this before but the emerging culture of fanfic writers as content creators and readers as consumers is fucking disgusting. it breeds attitudes exactly like this and turns something that is fundamentally anti-capitalist into another cycle of produce compete exploit where your worth is based on how quickly you can meet consumers needs

it’s called archive of our own for a reason. its about repurposing these stories for ourselves, for our own enjoyment and interest whether thats i want to right the wrongs of this author or i want to see what happens if this one tiny plot point changed or i want to make these characters tie each other up and fuck until they cry. its about sharing as a community, leaving these stories in a communal toy box so people who come along in a few months or few years can enjoy them too

tl;dr keep your fucking capitalist little mittens away from our stories

Every time someone comes back to tumblr to bitch about the kids without fully developed prefrontal cortexes running their mouths on tiktok an angel gets its wings.

It is an honor and privilege to be in fandom. And I hope the next gen learns what it means to be part of a creative community, and that art is for expression and not consumption. These kids have creativity and stories to share, too, and how sad would it be if those perspectives are lost to late stage capitalistic content consumption.

Bc the thing is, we will still be here when they want someone to listen to them, to the stories they want to write. Because fandom literally exists outside of capitalism, and therefore *will* outlast all other forms of media. We literally can’t make money off this. That is how badly we want to share these ideas and these thoughts, in the hopes that someone will see them and hear them and think “yeah, me too.” Or “I never thought of it this way” or just “fuck that was completely batshit.” We stay in a world that is copyrighted for a reason. It puts us in the driver’s seat; the story literally can’t be manipulated or controlled by systems of power generated by capitalism. We know when we read fic there is zero ulterior motive behind the story besides “here, world, have a piece of my brain.”

AND LIKE ISNT THAT SUCH A PRIVILEGE.

And that’s why we tag and give CWs and blah blah blah because that is *our* responsibility. To be forthright about what we are saying so readers can make an informed choice whether or not to engage. We even denote if we are writing something that isn’t finished! That little “Chapter number/?” can help you decide what level of commitment you are willing to give to a piece.

But to promise endings? For brain thoughts? My siblings in christ do YOUR brain thoughts have endings??? Are they worthless if they don’t??

Anyway.

Me n the rest of us will be here sharing our weird ideas and cheering for each other’s brain thoughts, whether they are finished or not.

Xoxo go sit girl

having a cat rlly is just horror movie shit. walk into your home and everything is slashed and something is moving in the back corner of the house. hands coming up underneath your bedroom door in the middle of the night and rattling it. hanging your foot off the bed and something grabs it and starts biting

When my kiddo finally decided (at age 20) that it was time for (most of) his enormous Lego collection to go, it was a gut-wrenching moment for me (goodbye childhood!). However, we used this service, which was simple and hassle-free.

This is wonderful to know.

a very romanian thing is that if someone gets something new, you wish them to use it healthy, like if it's clothes or shoes or jewelry you say "wear them healthy!", if it's like a car or so "drive it healthy!" etc you get the idea. but also a very romanian thing is that if someone does something you don't agree with and are done arguing about it, you snap "do that, and be healthy, cuz i'm done with this" or if you hear from someone else that they did that you also snap "may they be healthy", with an obligatory head or hand gesture to show just how disapproving you are of what they did
