I don't usually post food but I don't usually have a meal this crazy good!!! Googled breakfast places near my hotel in Victoria and the Spoons Diner popped up. Looked funky so I tried it. Tried the funkiest thing I could find, a breakfast poutine!! Crazy good!?! Hollandaise and brown gravy over bacon mushroom scrambled eggs with cheeses curds over crispy hashed potatoes. Amazing!!! Leaving Vancouver island today but taking some great memories with me. Went up to the Cowichan Valley to look for an old mine only to find logging trucks everywhere. Ended up getting lost on some logging road for hours trying to back track to get back to town. Finally after dark, I somehow managed to find civilization, but I ended up on the other side of the lake, not even sure how I got there. Finally got back to Victoria about 8 hours later, tired, sore from the rough roads but happy with my 4x4 truck who never let me down. Great first day on the island, but sad from all the clear cutting logging I saw. Decided to go rock hunting in Saskatchewan yesterday. It poured!! The road was washed out in some places. I got stuck in a huge mud hole. Got out but must have got water in the fuel tank. Van died near Crooked River. Waited 4 hours for a tow truck. This is me with a good book and a good view waiting while drying my wet feet out.
