The Oncoming Storm - Thirteenth Doctor

Season 12 is coming and I really hope I can see a more serious Doctor.

So I did some research on promotional images for Doctors 9-13 and I noticed something…

Notice what these images for Doctors 9-12 have in common……

12th Doctor

They all give off a very moody and dark vibe. Sure these are only a small sample of promotional images, but the majority of them all have the Doctor brooding or serious, running away from danger, the backgrounds very dark to symbolise that there is danger coming.

And then we get to the 13th Doctor….

Her promotional images are light, carefree, and full of colour. She’s depicted smiling and warm, whereas her previous incarnations were usually frowning.

This looks to be symbolising how 13 has truly left her dark, tragic past behind. Everything from her reveal trailer to her promotional art shows that she is fully embracing being free and full of life again.

It seems Series 12 promos are kind of split, they’ve continued with the light and bright colours as seen here 👇

But there’s also been some (admittedly not header promos like the above) darker images too as seen 👇

I think it’s showing that we’re going to dig deeper with the Doctor this series but that there’s not going to be a 180 flip of her personality? She’s the Doctor of hope 🤗🌈🙌

With the hiatus slowly ending, I thought I’d finally publish a story I’ve been working on for quite some time.

Reversion: a return to a previous state, practice, or belief

Summary:

People are dying throughout time. And the Doctor has abandoned her companions.

Back in Sheffield, Yaz, Ryan, and Graham wait, watching the increasingly desperate news on the TV and slowly losing hope. It’s been three months since the Doctor left them—to die, it seems.

At the end of the universe, Clara Oswald travels to Gallifrey to beg the Time Lords for one simple request: we need your help. The universe is dying.

One dimension removed, Rose Tyler hacks at the universe walls, risking her entire world in an attempt to break through—not that it matters, because her world is already dead.

Story is complete! Chapters will be posted once a week.

Okay so I did another suit one cause I didn't like the last lmao

Inktober has been good and over with for over a week now but it wiped all my art energy out of me. ANYWAYS this was my 4th year doing inktober and since I’ve been obsessed with Doctor Who all year I tried to tie DW into as many of the prompts I could. Thought I’d share them here finally as well! Follow my instagram @thirteenstardisfam for all of my drawings and any future DW art I do.

Exciting New Project: Season 11.5!

Helloooo Thirteen fans! In order to band together in this tough time of the hiatus, myself and the rest of the fanzine team are introducing a new project: We are recruiting writers for a ‘virtual season’, or a fanfic season with an overarching plot and eight episodes, with each episode published in the eight weeks leading up to the airing of the season.

How it works:

Myself and the other editors have devised an overarching plot and finale for a hypothetical season, with character arcs for Graham, Ryan, Yaz, and the Doctor. We will work together with episode writers, each of who will write one episode of five chapters, to work their ideas into a fantastic, tightly woven series, with plenty of suspense and adventure! This is a highly collaborative project, so while individual writers will not have complete creative control, we will work to allow each writer to spread their wings as much as possible. We plan to run this like a professional writer’s room, so if you’re looking for a way to test and hone your skills, this is it!

How to apply:

We will be accepting pitches from now to November 1st. What you need to do is pitch a five chapter episode synopsis (more information on how to do so in the documents below), and we will examine each pitch and accept 4-5 writers based on your imagination and creativity. Warning: This is, as we mentioned before, a professionally run project, so we very much expect those who apply to be willing to work with hard deadlines, as well as be willing to submit to constructive criticism and editing. We want this to be the best season we can possibly bring!
