A life lesson I learned from my film class was to choose your first wisely. The idea is if your first role in a film portrays you as a villain that's probably all you'll ever get roles for or as a comedic relief or the good girl etc. You never outgrow your first role. This is Jason Mamoa saying he couldn't get roles for 8 years because all anyone could see him as was a savage like his role in The Game of Thrones and Lola Tung getting labeled toxic because of her role in TSITP and the skinny Boi from Victorious never getting another role &c &c.

Your first impression will always follow you. Always. And you'll never get a second shot. Choose your first wisely. It will always follow you. At work my mentor told me to say I'm not ready and play the dyslexic card until I was offered (or snagged) a top tier assignment because my first assignment would set the tone for all the assignments after that. Mom said I'm only allowed to have boyfriends/girlfriends if they fit the standard of the person I want to marry otherwise I'd rather buy a vibrator because the next will always look at your previous and look for what you're willing to accept then hit the lower point. To only post photos in the most elite picturesque places so when people look at my insta they know what my standard is. The first date at the dollar store = highest date at target. The first always sets the tone.

Set the bar for your first high so all the rest that follow have to follow the lead. Your first can never be low and if it's low its private. And private enough that it can never be linked to you. People will always look at your lowest then try to hit lower, make sure your lowest is high enough that under it is still high, then never go lower because if you take one step lower you show you're willing to compromise then it's game over for you.

Your first is your brand.
