The group is quickly closing in on the notorious Arthur Werlin, with the help of cabaret playwright Elation the tiefling. It’s no surprise that chasing down leads at the La Deuxième Sonnerie is a mix of business and pleasure… but when a surprise seduction goes awry, the group finds themselves in Werlin’s trap…

…and it’s closing fast.

1-4, 12, 14, 18 and 19 (or just some of them) for your favourite OC?

Favourite OC - I’ll do Trick, then!

1. What was the first element of your OC that you remember considering (name, appearance, backstory, etc.)?

I think their look came about pretty quickly, as well as the base idea of their character. I wanted to play a tiefling, and a pirate. I was considering making them a rogue and a swashbuckler too, but I really wanted to play a flirty bard, SOOO…. here we go.

2. Did you design them with any other characters/OCs from their universe in mind?

Nope, not at all!

3. How did you choose their name?

Ok, so, their name is a straight ripoff from Critical Role. ‘Trick’ fit their clever and cunning personality I was originally going for, and tiefling names just Are Like That, and I love them… and then I thought of Pike Trickfoot from CR and just stole the other half of her last name as well lol

4. In developing their backstory, what elements of the world they live in played the most influential parts?

That there were pirates…. Oh, and a coup that happened in the world a few years before our game, that pushed a big event in Trick’s life that’s pretty much set in motion all their growth right now

(but that wasn’t as much me developing their backstory, as my DM going “ok how will you deal with this” and me still trying to figure that out lmao)

12. What have you found to be most difficult about creating art for your OC (any form of art: writing, drawing, edits, etc.)?

Consistency, I think! Writing-wise, mostly, keeping their character consistent and logical, especially when RPing. Art-wise, I think showing how varied they are in terms or presentation and gender! I need to draw them playing around w gender more bc that’s what they DO.

14. If you had to narrow it down to 2 things that you MUST keep in mind while working with your OC, what would those things be?

oh boy! I guess… That they’re afraid of being alone, and a bleeding heart, but trying to cover both of those things up. (I guess that’s three things, lol)

18. What is the most recent thing you’ve discovered about your OC?

I discover a lot of new shit about Trick constantly, but maybe the most recent one is…. They have something in their past that has left some very deep marks on them, and they do not realize that - or are just now starting to realize that. Another one is that they have got to do a thing that makes me as a player a little uncomfortable, but it’s something that’s good for them, and for me, so they’ll do it. But that’s spoiler territory! x)

19. What is your favorite fact about your OC?

That they’re growing ❤

8. What (if anything) do you relate to within their character/story?

SO MUCH… Trick is actually just made up of parts I find attractive and parts I’ve projected onto them without noticing. Being young and feeling that very hard at times, the sort of emotional immaturity that comes from lack of experience, feeling inadequate, feeling lonely even when they’ve got an amazing family and good friends, craving for things they don’t know if they deserve… I mean, A LOT.

15. What is something about your OC can make you laugh?

They’re truly a dumb fuck and not as suave as they pretend to be, and their party brings out the dork in them, so whenever it’s not all doom and gloom and serious character drama, some pretty fun interactions happen and I laugh a lot.

16. What is something about your OC can make you cry?

That a lot of their flaws and insecurities are my flaws, and when those come up in game or in conversations about Trick, it makes me cry a little every time, and especially when they have people treat them with kindness despite those flaws.

We’ve had a lot of requests from folks for a way to keep up with our adventures, and today we’re giving you one!

Our session write-ups have been private up to this point, but we’re editing them, adding session art and making them publicly available starting now!

We plan to post roughly one a week in chronological order, in Google Docs format.

Here’s the first one!

In which a particular blueprint goes up for auction, a transaction is brokered, a fight breaks out, and an audience with the King leads to a peculiar alliance of four strangers!

Enjoy!

i’m moving to glasgow next week, and hoo boy! that sure is exciting and stressful!! but i’m also looking forward to it SO much! i have gone on exchange before, but it was years ago, and i was much younger and much more anxious, and i got dropped on the other side of the world with no one i knew near me! this time i’m moving inside europe, and i have more responsibility, more freedom, more experience and most importantly, more confidence in myself. so i’m hopeful!

i hope scotland treats me well, and if any of you have any glasgow tips, let me know ✌💖

wish me luck!

i love your art style and how you simplify forms!! do you have any more speed draws/tips/tutorials up, perhaps for ko-fi donors?

Avatar

thank you!! i sadly don’t have anything right now, simply because i’m bad at remembering to record my progress, but i could definitely take prompts on stuff to draw and record for donors, in case you have any!

i don’t have ko-fi gold so it’s is a bit unwieldy taking prompts directly from donors, but if people want to reply to this with some, feel free! i’ll try to have something new recorded for donors eventually! ✨

Hey there! First of all I love your art so much! Your use of shapes and composition are a huge inspiration for me ;~; And second I was wondering if it would be rude to ask what brush you've been using recently? You said it was Kyle T Webster's in your FAQ but I was wondering which one specifically. It just looks so nice and gritty! Anyway I hope you have a great night!!

hi, and thank you!!

the brush i use is Sketch Pencil Rough 2, from kyle’s drawing box, but this is specifically the one from the photoshop CC exclusive brushes (because i had an older, pre-CC exclusive version of the drawing box as well, and there is a brush named this on it too, but it’s slightly different), with pressure opacity turned on and 20-30% flow! it needs to be used on a big enough canvas though (i prefer 1500-2000px wide) to get that nice, thin, pencil sketch-y feel
