I'm still thinking of redrawing a favorite page/scene or doing a mock cover for the volume but i'll have. so much catching up to do with that one.

Meant to say this last night when I was rewatching Tristamp but in the first episode it looks like Rem wasn't able to do anything because the ship exploded right as the escape pod was launched

So in Tristamp did so many humans survive because of sheer luck? Rem didn't even give a reason why she was staying behind! It really does make it look like she just kind of... abandoned them in favor of going down with the ship.

I'm hoping that it gets cleared up in a later moment that I missed, but I really, really don't like that change at all. Is it more dramatic? Yeah. Does it do Rem a great disservice? Also yeah.

Tristamp Episode 2: Thoughts

- was 69 an intentional number

- i love the reporters discussing how ridiculous the evil twin thing is

- an entire town trying to kill vash my beloved

- vash really didn't meryl and to roberto to save him tho

- i don't like his new prosthetic. sorry guys. i just miss the very dramatic review when fighting monev. i feel like flaunting around the lost tech is just... an interesting choice. this may be solved in season 2 tho who knows

- i forgot to mention but i loveeeee the solar powered car roberto and meryl have. i decided that meryl and milly have it too bc it makes sense for the insurance company to provide them transportation

- chocobo-esque thomases my absolute beloved (i have no idea what type of creatures they were before bc they really weren't shown that much. they didn't seem as bird-like tho)

- Ok already Vash is wayyyy too serious and brooding. And soft. If there's anything I dislike about Tristamp it's how Soft™ they made Vash. (i'm not allowing the show being pre-July to be an excuse because anger has Always been part of his character post-fall)

- Definitely prefer the original Nebraska fight tbh

- I love how fluidly Vash moves though.

- Vash's hair isn't even that spiky here why are they calling him spiky

- I really miss Vash drinking and partying with everyone only to just quietly leave later on

- Roberto being there to clock Vash immediately is just. Idk it's something and I don't like it. Show don't tell people.

Tristamp Episode 1: Thoughts

- so the fall is beautifully animated and i love it. something about beauty amidst destruction and horror.

- i feel like vash being the one that gave knives the codes to the ship is unnecessary. he's already got enough guilt, no need for knives to gaslight him into thinking it Was really his fault we have july for that

- knowing that July is now basically the Fifth Moon incident turns Juneora Rock into July and honestly? that's kind of interesting switching them around like that

- the goofiness of vash in the first episode contrasts too much with the later episodes and it kinda loops around and makes it feel like vash is straight up just incompetent here (or he's Really Deep in the role)

- i do not buy that he had no bullets on him at all. i do appreciate meryl being around to save him tho please give her some things to do

- i still do not like Roberto. and i don't like Meryl's relationship regarding him. like Meryl and Milly already had the experienced/newbie thing going for them. Roberto really doesn't add anything except another man and character development Meryl really didn't need in the original.

- G-d I hate how they handle Meryl being so innocent and naive and unaware of the brutality of the planet. Like... there is No Way she could grow up anywhere there without being aware of this. Again it just feels so unnecessary to me

- animation is spectacular though. very nice and stylish and dynamic

- I have. Mixed Feelings about Knives being introduced so early. Honestly I have mixed feelings about establishing part of Vash's backstory within the first scene.

- on one hand: I like the scenes themselves and i'm just happy to see those things explored.

- on the other: i feel like it's playing the cards way too early. i also can't be too mad at this bc of the state of television today making it so hard to tell if you'll get a second season or not. like of course they had to show everything they could - they didn't know if they'd get another chance

- i still feels like it's at a detriment to the overall story tho

- Knive's snuggie is so important to me but also what the hell are the boil lookin things on it. (more Knives opinions will come later if I continue live blogging)

rewatching tristamp now so i can solidify my opinion on it
