"Each Christian has an inner longing that only Christ’s righteousness can satisfy.  But we cannot be filled with righteousness if we are filled with self.  Throughout the Scriptures the one who longs for Him with all his heart will find Him. As we crave righteousness, we will repent of our sin, and God will remove it.  Our selfishness will be replaced by the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Righteousness is not to be taken lightly, nor is it easily attained.  God gives it to those who know they cannot live without it.  Our desire for personal righteousness must be powerful, all-consuming, dominating everything we do.  Pursuing righteousness means that we value the opinion of God far more than we treasure the opinions of people.  Righteousness is not merely an absence of sin.  It is allowing God to fill us with His holiness.  It is becoming like Christ."

"The purpose of human life is communion with God, which is the salvation of our souls—their eternal beatitude. And the means of fulfilling His commandments: submission to His will, which reveals itself in the circumstances of life; labor: the purification of the heart from passions; and humility that leads to faith, to accepting His grace, without which nothing good or holy can be accomplished in us."

~St. Arsenia of Ust-Medvedits

'Love makes others' suffering its own', states The Book of the Poor in Spirit. If this is true of human love, it is much more true of divine love. Since God is love and created the world as an act of love -- and since God is personal, and personhood implies sharing -- God does not remain indifferent to the sorrows of this fallen world. If I as a human being remain unaffected by another's anguish, in what sense do I genuinely love him? Surely, the, God identifies Himself with His creation in its anguish.

Madonna and Child - attributed to Pieter Pepers, 1763

"This sculpture of the Virgin and Child originally stood in St. Donatian's Cathedral, which was situated in Burg Square but was demolished around 1800. It was probably made by the Bruges sculptor, Pieter Pepers."

Right now, at this very second. There are people all over the world praying to God for you. Praying for God to comfort you, to strengthen you, to guide you. Praying for your wellbeing. I know it can be hard, but try not to give in to despair and feelings of loneliness. Holy men and women around the world are rooting for you. The Saints are rooting for you. God is rooting for you. And they all love you so very dearly.

"I went into the Christmas cave; there was no Child upon the straw. The ox and ass were all I saw.

I sought His stable where He gave His goodness in the guise of bread. Emptiness came to me instead.

Filled with my Father’s words, I cried “Where have You hid Yourself?” and all the living answered to my call.

I found Him (and the world is wide) dear in His warm ubiquity. Where heart beat, there was Christ for me.

I went back to the Christmas cave, glad with the gain of everywhere. And lo! the blessed Child was there.

Then at His feasting board He gave embrace. He multiplied His good and fed in me the multitude."
