So are Roosterteeth | Voltron | BNHA and whatever else I happen to be interested in. Mainly Plance.

The thing about that Winter thing, just to remind, from her POV she killed James. The last she saw of him was was her making him explode. From her perspective she is the one who killed that guy. And she is not very Brocken up about it.

Its amusing because they give Adam more sympathy then this. Blake literally broke down sobbing after killing him and even the triumphant song they released had a note about how sad Adam's story was and how this boy lost his way being consumed by hate and spite.

It was not alot, but like...its more then they give Jimmy LOL.

Pretty sure I got this ask when we all thought Winter was writing on Ironwood's grave, but regardless...

Yeeeah.

Something I've been thinking about lately is how Ironwood is the one villain who is still irrevocably against Salem and how that should have made such a difference, but didn't. Even Adam, whose story-line became 99% about his abusive relationship with Blake, was working with Cinder earlier on who, in turn, was working for Salem. Every major villain in the show (that I can think of off the top of my head, anyway) did something to forward Salem's agenda: Cinder, Watts, Tyrian, Hazel, Emerald, Raven, Adam, Roman. That consistency means that although I might often side-eye the heroes' inability to forgive (or hypocritically forgive on a dime) it at least makes sense that they would look at someone like Lionheart, someone who was helping Salem end the world, and dismiss any goodness within them.

Ironwood, in contrast, was working against Salem up until the moment he died.

Stanley Martin Lieber (1922 - 2018)      “I used to be embarrassed because I was just a comic-book writer while other people were building bridges or going on to medical careers. And then I began to realize: entertainment is one of the most important things in people’s lives. Without it they might go off the deep end. I feel that if you’re able to entertain people, you’re doing a good thing.“

Your pokémon is remembering the first time it met you…

Your pokémon is relaxed. The sight of you might have made it feel more secure.

Your pokémon gathered all its energy to break through its paralysis so you wouldn’t worry!

Your pokémon toughed it out so you wouldn’t feel sad!

All Pokemon act like dogs-

I forgot to add:

Your Pokemon is remembering the first time it met you…

Your Pokemon is relaxed. The sight of you might have made it feel more secure.

Your Pokmon gathered all its energy to break through its paralysis so you wouldn’t worry!

Your Pokemon toughed it out so you wouldn’t feel sad!

I think the best piece of character design advice I ever received was actually from a band leadership camp I attended in june of 2017.

the speaker there gave lots of advice for leaders—obviously, it was a leadership camp—but his saying about personality flaws struck me as useful for writers too.

he said to us all “your curses are your blessings and your blessings are your curses” and went on to explain how because he was such a great speaker, it made him a terrible listener. he could give speeches for hours on end and inspire thousands of people, but as soon as someone wanted to talk to him one on one or vent to him, he struggled with it.

he had us write down our greatest weakness and relate it to our biggest strength (mine being that I am far too emotional, but I’m gentle with others because I can understand their emotions), and the whole time people are sharing theirs, my mind was running wild with all my characters and their flaws.

previously, I had added flaws as an after thought, as in “this character seems too perfect. how can I make them not-like-that?” but that’s not how people or personalities work. for every human alive, their flaws and their strengths are directly related to each other. you can’t have one without the other.

is your character strong-willed? that can easily turn into stubbornness. is your character compassionate? maybe they give too many chances. are they loyal? then they’ll destroy the world for the people they love.

it works the other way around too: maybe your villain only hates the protagonist’s people because they love their own and just have a twisted sense of how to protect them. maybe your antagonist is arrogant, but they’ll be confident in everything they do.

tl;dr “your curses are your blessings, and your blessings are your curses” there is no such thing as a character flaw, just a strength that has been stretched too far.

This is such a fabulous flip side of what I’ve always known about villians. That their biggest weakness is that they always assume their own motivations are the motives of others.

This is brilliant!!

Space kid ✨✨✨

Realized there wasn’t any angst of him so I made some. I assume this is just a nightmare he’s having where aliens attacked his ship, killed his crew members, and he wasn’t able to save them… unu

they’re just really nicely done

hellbent was so good

I feel like an aspect of Phineas and Ferb that goes completely underappreciated is that not once but TWICE per episode the writers were able to link the story lines of two brothers building crazy and impossible things with their friends and an evil scientist who poorly tries to take over of the world and also battles a platypus AND somehow make it that whatever malfunctioning device the scientist made completely removed the proof anything had happened with them. Like… that’s astounding

What’s more astounding is the fact that they managed to, somehow, make it weirder and weirder without losing face. Like. I wonder how they explained these scenarios to the animators with a straight face. “Yeah, so we’re gonna have the platypus get in a swordfight with the evil scientist. Yeah, have the Duel of the Fates playing in the background. Yeah, it’s gonna be Brutworst and Hot dog as swords”

Phineas and Ferb is really unappreciated just because “the plot is always the same, that’s a lame excuse for not having enough ideas”. Like no, not at all. This is exactly what makes the show so good: the ability to make every episode special by changing the usual pattern just a little. It’s always a little changing: using Perry’s point of view , make the episode go on backwards, making Linda (the mom) become the Candace of the situation by trying to get her husband’s attention, make Perry and Candace switching bodies…

It’s a little change of the pattern, but it’s enough, because the plot is NOT the pattern: the plot develops around the pattern like it’s some kind of environment or scenery.

And the best part is that the characters themselves know about it: Candace knows she will never bust them, Linda knows that her daughter will never give up, the boys know that their invections will just disappear.

Y'all are forgetting the FRIKKIN MUSIC

Well guys,

This is it…. Our last day at Dreamworks on Voltron. It’s pretty surreal. We started this ride in June 2014 and we just had our final watchdown of the final episode of season 8. I just wanted to take a moment to say that It has been an absolute honor and Privilege to work alongside such a talented and dedicated cast and crew, both at Dreamworks and studio MIR, who came together (like Voltron) to make something truly special. To the amazingly passionate VLD fandom, we couldn’t have made this journey without you. Thank you for all the support over the years. Your passion, creativity and love is infectious and has helped pick us up in tough times and creative low points. Lauren Montgomery, Ki Hyun Ryu, and Benjamin Kaltenecker are my animation siblings and in my mind, “producers row” will live on forever! I’ll cherish all the amazing memories for the rest of my life. Remember, Dec 14th is just around the corner so we ain’t done just yet! But for now, we’re off to the next adventure!

Love and respect,
