I’m obsessed with wild flowers. These ones grow in high altitudes. If you’re getting married close to a ski hill in the summer, they’ll let you take the gondola to the top, and then hike to the bottom. It’ll be the best views you’ve ever seen. . . . . . . . . . . #bcweddingphotographer #kelownawedding #kelownaweddingphotographer #kelownaweddings #kamloopswedding #vancouverbride #kelownabride #wedvancouver #weddingpioneer #vancouverweddingphotographer #vancouverwedding #vancouverweddings #vancouverphotographer #bcwedding #bcweddings #vernonbc #vernonphotographer #vernonwedding #lakecountry #vernon #vernonbc #westkelowna (at Vernon, British Columbia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqHAPAMvh6X/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

If a socialist country wanted to pay me to do podcasts with their equivalent of Joe Rogan and talk about how Canadians gotta eat rats to survive I would take the opportunity in a heartbeat. The Sunny Predator Ridge Wedding Sampler
Although I’ve photographed Predator Ridge many times before, this is the most fall that a gallery has ever looked. It was a stead 20 degrees, we were nice and cool, and the leaves had just started to change colour. Because we had sunset at 6pm, we had that beautiful sunset light before and during the ceremony – which was fairly advantageous, as we did many of the photos before the ceremony.
Our day begins as many do, with the details. I arrived with a table full of them, ready for me. The leaves were a mix between between yellow and that bright orange, so that’s how I wanted to start the album. A strong start.
To get that shot, I set up the ring, then threw the leaves all over to get that dreamy bokeh.
And the flowers, from Petal and Vow, were indescribably beautiful. So here’s another photo.
We had a first look! There’s this old tree and ivy wall right by Chicopee Rd, and that was the best place in my estimation. We had the light leaking through the shade that the tree provided, and plenty of room for a bridal party, a second shooter, and three videographers.
So, the last bit of makeup, the dress, and then it’s time for the first look.
He was ready for us.
And now, some of the most important photos – this bridal party!
Look at those oranges! This is the best reason to have an october wedding. At Predator, at the Golf Course, if you know where to look, these little alcoves are everywhere.
Esther Peterson had already arrived to the ceremony, and most everyone was seated. The decorations were perfect in keeping with the fall theme, those brazen yellow and oranges I just love!
I was so happy we had some shade – it really showed off all the details in the dress. And what an incredible, jaw dropping dress it is. Because this couple is awesome, we managed a few more photos after the ceremony with that 4pm sunset light.
I can’t even begin to explain how much fun this bridal party is.
A few more photos of the couple, and it’s dinnertime!
What can I say about this evening? DJ Krucial K kept the dance floor popping. We got to see a groom become a citizen of newfoundland. I grossly overshot this wedding because every second, I saw so many things happening around me. Even look at this cake and topper!
And our sneakaway, to the top of the mountain!
You’re probably thinking, “This can’t be it!” And you’d be right.
There’s so, so many more photos of this incredible night, the first dance, the photo booth, the sparkler exit. But you can’t see them yet. Not for another three weeks, anyway.
If you’d like to gain access to the album once it’s ready and approved, click here to register. This is just a sneak peek, 75 photos of the incredible day we were all so fortunate to be part of on Saturday.
Thank you for reading this far! If you’d like to follow me, give me a follow on Instagram or FB. Talk to you soon!

The Westside Wedding Sampler
September 17th was a bright and sunny day after a week of rain, and that’s a good thing – we had constant sunshine on this beautiful day. This wedding takes place out on Westside Road, which is one of my favourite spots in the whole Okanagan to shoot. You’ll see why soon enough!
We start out, of course, with the details. And we’ve got a lot. Flowers by Vernon Flowers, and the arrangement was just stunning!
The eagle-eyed viewers will start to nice a westside theme.
This is a backyard wedding, which are quickly becoming my favourite weddings. Instead of hotel rooms, we had huge houses surrounded by thick forest today.
And before long, this fella was ready for his first look.
Over at the girls, we just just finishing up.
We had a first look at Fintry Park. In the huge field with the sun shining through, it was such a moment.
After the first look, we walked into an overgrown shed I had scouted out, which looked a lot better than it sounds.
Back at the house, many of the guests had already arrived. Ring security was on the job, keeping everyone in line.
The ceremony was so much fun. The vows, the expressions, and the guests made it such a memorable time. The sun sank lower, giving the whole scene this unreal backlit glow.
I’m getting really good at group photos.
After the ceremony, we took off to get a few photos before dinner. The sun was low, which makes for angular light. That’s something we’re always look for with photos. The shade makes the images pop, and it’s generally the most flattering light you can get.
We finished up, and headed to the hall. A little known fact is that my favourite two places for receptions is old church basements (I’m not kidding, they’re so photogenic!) and halls with really high roofs. This hall had this incredible old school vibe.
Unfortunately, this is where I’ll have to leave you. This is a just a sneak peek of the festivities we enjoyed yesterday. This sunny day in the heavy forests of westside.
This is quite a large sneak peek, at 62 images in total, but there’s more coming! In about three weeks. If you’d like to be notified when the album is ready, click here to be added to the list.
If you’d like to keep up with my work, feel free to give me a follow on instagram or facebook. Thanks for reading this far, and we’ll see you for the next sneak peek in a few weeks!

The Island Lake Lodge Wedding Sampler
Fernie is a strange place. You wouldn’t know it, driving through the Alberta-border city, but there’s some fairly remote and beautiful resorts in this area. This is one of them.
Fun fact, This isn’t the first time I’ve photographed Island Lake Lodge. I was there back in April. These two were at that wedding, and so I had met them before.
But I’m getting ahead of myself. We’re going to start with the detail shots – there’s a lot of beautiful areas nearby, and I took full advantage.
While I was photographing the dress in the woods, I heard a rustling. I had specifically picked out a remote spot because I didn’t want any of the guests seeing the dress before the wedding. As it turned out, my fears were unfounded. It was a deer, curious about what I was doing in his part of the woods.
In the Cedar cabin, the boys were getting ready. Because of the large windows, we had some fairly bold light. And also, the mood was light. We had a lot of fun.
Over in the girl’s cabin, the dress had been steamed, and so it was time to put it on . We had a first look down the path, near “I Dew Point” (They knew exactly what they were doing when they came up with that name!), and plans for formals directly after.
And then, she was ready to meet this handsome groom out in the forest.
And there he was, waiting for her.
And of course, some photos of this wild bridal party were in order.
After a short bathroom break, the groomsmen as well.
The ceremony site here is really something special. There’s the lake in the background, and mountains on every side. An added touch I really appreciated was site was pointed towards the sun. That means each photo is backlit. Every. One. On cell phones, it doesn’t turn out, but on dedicated cameras with prime (a lens without zoom or very little zoom), it looks absolutely ethereal.
The ceremony was gorgeous and heartfelt. Hand-written personal vows, and even a few tears.
Then, some family photos, and drinks up in the lodge.
It was a blur between that and our sneakway. I had scouted out the sunset before, and realized the sun was behind the mountains at 5:45, not 7:15 as reported. Thats’ because the mountains were particularly high. As speeches started at 6pm, this wasn’t wasn’t an issue.
This sneakaway was particularly important. I didn’t have nearly as many formals of these two as I had wanted, and I had a fairly concrete idea of what I wanted the album to be. Fortunately, everything is maximum about a five minute walk away.
And these two were down to sneak away.
First, the forest photos.
You’ll notice two tricks I used for the first section. Lens flare – my 35mm f/1.4II flares like crazy, but only in very dark places, with extremely bright light. This is fairly common when it comes to film lenses, and one of the reasons why I prefer them. You can work with it just right.
And the second trick – prisming.
And one extra trick – haze in a can.
I’m not done yet.
There’s the beach, so we made our way to it. Keep in mind these photos are meant to be blown up, so you might have to squint a bit.
Sneak away sessions should ideally be around twenty minutes, thirty at the most. We were approaching thirty, but we hadn’t even come to the most important part. The whole family photo.
Although I’d like to show you more, it’s time to finish up this sampler. It’s a really massive sneak peek, at a little over 70 photos!
There’s a lot of beautiful moments, some tears, a lot of laughs (especially during the speeches!) and some breathtaking landscapes. But it’ll all be out in 3 weeks, when I’m done editing this absolutely massive album. If you’d like to see it when it’s done, click here to be put on the waiting list.
Until then, thank you for reading this far! If you’d like to stay updated, consider following my facebook or instagram. Talk soon!

The Waterfall Wedding in Tappen, BC
Stage 2, then four. We did our formals at Margaret Falls, and they have these incredible rock walls. On one side, there’s shrubbery growing all up it, on the other side, there’s rock walls. The whole valley curves upwards, however you’re walking through the bottom of a deep fault line.
I’m getting ahead of myself, though. We start with some details – the rings, the dress.
And of course, a groom getting ready. We had a first look at 2:45, and a 3:30 ceremony, so there was no time to waste!
The girls were getting ready at an airbnb nearby, and there were certainly many beautiful moments.
We had decided on a first look at Sunnybrea Winery. There’s an incredible view, a farmhouse, and a huge field. The field was my first choice, however I found ample evidence there had been many cows in that field recently. I kept looking, and I’m glad I did – there was a grassy field with a much better view.
And this first look – pay special attention to the look on this fella’s face.
On the way up, he said, “Is she nervous?”, and I said yes. Then he said, “Well, she is marrying me.” and we both laughed. I thought that was a really sweet moment. It stuck in my head.
We had a little smoke, from the forest fire in Jasper, but in my opinion it made the photo look that much more surreal.
Off to the ceremony – it was literally on the beach at Harold Park!
The ceremony was beautiful, with vows and of course a kiss at the end. In a related note, I’m getting quite good at every guest group shots.
This next part is the part I’m most excited to show you – the photos at Margaret Falls.
Those photos were not effortless – they required a lot of climbing up and down steep hills with a lot of slipping. These two were absolute champs, and I couldn’t be more excited about the photos that turned out. That, above, is a rock wall, with foliage growing out of it. There was a path leading up, and just enough room for the two of them. Talk about unique wedding photos!
At our amazing backyard venue, the pig was smoking.
This is one of my favourite times. I chat with the guests, and get candids and posed photos. The candids really bring an album together, they are the glue.
And the way this sunset light just hit!
Unfortunately, this is where I’ll have to leave you. This is just a sampler, which is a fancy way of saying it’s a sneak peek of this gorgeous wedding. It’s a big one too – can you believe that’s 64 photos?
If you’d like to be on the list to see the photos once they’re ready, click here!
Thank you for reading this far, and I hope you loved this massive sampler! If you give me a follow on instagram or facebook, you can see what I’ve been up to. Talk soon!

The Edgewood Wedding Sampler
Where is Edgewood? It’s up in the mountains, so it’s a few degrees cooler than the city. There’s fields and the town has a store, and also a beach. I can’t really say much more about it, so let’s start with some details.
The benefit of this venue is – wait for it – everyone was getting ready on site. That means I could bounce back and forth between the guys and the girls! Everything was set up by the time I arrived, and it was perfect. We were a little worried about rain, but it turned out we had just a few sprinkles. In late august, those sprinkles are welcome!
And then, these two were ready to be wed.
The ceremony was gorgeous – handwritten vows, a few stories that we’ll love to retell, and the grooms face when he saw his new bride!
We had a pretty fun group to photograph. And, the best part, is a lot of place to choose from. So, I did my best to make sure we had a variety of photos.
I’d like to take a moment to thank my little smoke buddy for the assistance.
There’s this old bridge as you get into the city, we had to get some photos there as well.
I don’t usually add photos of the reception into the sneak peek, but you should see this one! It’s gorgeous! The sun filtered through the trees, and gave everything this otherworldly glow.
Unfortunately, this is where I’ll have to leave you. We have a massive gallery, with so many family photos, and candid moments. This is just a sampler, a sneak peek of epic party we had on Saturday.
If you’d like to be put on the list to see the photos when they’re done, click here. It’ll probably be at least 3 weeks, but it will be a large album!

The Sunflower Wedding at Cedar Ridge Guest Ranch Sampler
Saturday’s wedding was incredible. Our beautiful couple had planned it to coincide with the bloom festivals, and during the sneakaway, you’ll find out why.
We’ll start out at the unique old ranch – Cedar Ridge Guest Ranch. It’s as unique of a venue as you’ll ever see. In the middle of farmlands and fields, and sometimes there’s even a deer or two poking his head out of the forest.
Upstairs, the girls were getting ready. As it’s an absolutely massive barn, there were plenty of opportunities for unique dress photos.
Outside, the sun was promising us a scorcher of a day, as we say here in BC.
The beauty of Cedar Creek Ranch is that it’s so big – girls and guys got ready on opposite sides of the ranch. It’s easier for me, I can bounce back and forth between the bridesmaids and groomsmen.
The single window is amazing for lighting as well – it’s like the barn was meant not only for animals, but designed with photographers in mind too.
I made my way over to the east side of the barn, where the girls were.
Outside, the guests had begun to arrive. We had a balmy 36º in the sun, and I was greatful the rain had passed us by.
That’s actually 15 photos stitched together. That’s how I do these longer shots. It’s more time consuming, but I think it looks great!
The ceremony was beautiful. A few laughs, and a few tears as the vows were read aloud.
And with that, these two sunflower seeds were married! We took some quick formals, then ran off to….you guessed it. The farmlands of Enderby.
It’s absolutely fantastic that there’s so many places to take photos at Cedar Creek. Of course, if it’s just the couple, a short break in an air conditioned car to get to one of the many picturesque nearby locations is welcome.
This is where I’ll have to leave you though. They’ll be many more pictures in about two weeks – so hold on! If you’d like to be notified when the photos are ready, click here. It’s going to be a stunning album – and wait till you see the sneak peek!
Special thanks to the staff of Cedar Ridge Guest Ranch for being so welcoming. We used the kitchen, the wifi, and all the grounds liberally. Absolutely so highly recommended.

New Post has been published on https://www.drahtphotography.com/the-guisachan-house-wedding-in-kelowna-sampler/

The Guisachan House Wedding in Kelowna Sampler
There’s this beautiful little oasis tucked away in the corners of Kelowna. We call it Guisachan House. It’s a very, very old mansion, surrounded by tall trees, flowers, and arbours. There’s a lot for me to photograph there, and photograph we did – the whole day we went hard!
We start today at an Airbnb in Kelowna, with an incredible view of the city.
Over at Guisachan, flowers had arrived, and our award-winning chef had just finished the 5 tier cake!
It was a 4pm ceremony. Our groom had just arrived, and looked quite spiffy. Over in the preparation room, the amazing makeup artists were just readying the final touches.
The ceremony was completely unique. We started with hymns, then hand-written vows, and one amazing recessional! I love confetti – flower petals, bubbles, it always looks so good. At this moment, the crowd just went wild!
And now, after family photos, we had a beaming bridal party. We took some fairly goofy photos, and other photos that were a bit more formal. I like to try and get a mix of the two – not too rigid, but not too goofy.
And then, some time with just these two! We were trying to do a straight-face photo, but this fella just couldn’t stop smiling, not even for a second!
So I took out the prism, and it was time for some artsy photos!
Back at the Guisachan house, we had it packed full of family and friends.
There’s a lot more to this day – a money dance, the amazing traditional dresses, a LOT of candids, photos of kids, guests being goofy, but this album just isn’t ready quite yet.
This is just a sneak peek, a little preview of the photos the day after the wedding. A large one too – over 45 photos!
If you’d like to be notified once the album is ready, click here. It should be ready in about two weeks, and it’s a massive album!
There’s the first dance, our sneakaway, some very smokey photos, the photos in the garden, the kids running around and raiding the candy bar. It’s a whole experience!

The Stormy Coldstream Wedding Sampler
I’ve been reading about Thursday’s red sky for a few days now. Everyone’s so excited, it was so rare and so beautiful. We actually got it – in our sunset sneakaway. We really got it. Even with a bit of lightning.
We start our day in the late afternoon, with a first look. We had a later ceremony – 5pm – so at 3pm we decided we’d like to get started on the photos. As you can imagine, that entails a first look! I hid in the bushes, and the day got on to a roarding start.
And just like that, we jumped right into photos. I had chosen a shady spot in Coldstream for a reason – in August it’s not uncommon for it to get pretty hot. Sometimes over 40 degrees (That’s 100 degrees for the America), and the shade keeps us nice and cool.
And this beautiful bride!
I like to have a good mixture of colour and black and white. Variety is important when it comes to wedding photos!
The sun came through the trees, and I’m obsessed with those dappling rays of sunlight!
At the ceremony site, family members were busy setting up. The storm was just beginning, and we hadn’t known it, but it would pass right by us.
It was a simple ceremony, with a lot of laughs and smiles all around.
And just like that, we fell into an evening of drinks, delicious food, and great conversation.
Oh, and even a cake!
This is where I’ll have to leave you, though. This is a sneak peek, just a few photos of this incredible day these two had.
There’s a list though! If you click here, you can put down your name. Once the photos are ready, and you’re on the list, you’ll get a link to view them! And it’s going to be a big album!
Until then, feel free to follow me on Instagram or Facebook! Thank you for reading this far and I hope you enjoyed it!

New Post has been published on https://www.drahtphotography.com/the-sparkly-seymour-arm-wedding-sampler/

The Sparkly Seymour Arm Wedding Sampler
What to say, besides this day was a trip. Literally a trip too – Seymour Arm is literally a three hour drive away from Vernon. One of those remote cities without cell phone reception I’d never heard of. Strange, that – the waterfall, old airport strip, country store, and lakeside views are absolutely stunning.
Speaking of absolutely stunning, we start our day with a pokemon theme.
The dress was stunning as well – sparkles everywhere, it caught the sun in the most unique way.
That beautiful house – that’s where the girls were getting ready. Nearby, in a trailer, five groomsmen were doing their best to look perfect.
And, incredibly, he did look quite dashing. Ready for a first look.
Over at the girls, it was about time to put on the wedding dress.
Good thing mother was there to help!
And soon, she was ready too – for a first look, in a forest, right by a waterfall.
Along with the groomsmen, we scouted out a spot.
And we found one, right there in the overgrown vines and ancient tree trunks.
I turned around, and with just a few minutes, she had found us and she was on her way. The light leaked through the trees, giving us the most incredible layers of composition.
And then, the waterfall. As you can probably image, I always jump at the chance to get photos from the most epic angles. I’ll climb rocks, trees, and sometimes even take the lens cap off my camera to get this incredible moments.
And we certainly did!
I’ve got to say, that’s a new one. I haven’t done anything quite like that before. Of course, the guys, being guys, had to step it up a notch. I present to you the groomsmen picture.
We all piled into the back of the truck, we had a few more formals!
And now that you’ve seen the boys, check out this colour scheme and flowers for the girls!
A few more photos, and we were ready for the 5pm ceremony.
5pm is an amazing time, in early August, for a ceremony. The reason is that it’s already begun to cool down, and it’ll cool down even more from here on out.
As tradition dictates, the beer boy did his diligent duty making sure everyone had ample refreshments.
And then, the flowers girls and pokemon boys.
That’s when everyone went silent. We saw her from a ways away, and the two of them locked eyes.
And, that’s a good part of our day! Not our whole day though – there’s a lot more pictures in the final album!
That is to say – there will be. In about two weeks, we’ll have a massive album. And you’ll want to see it. Just click here to sign up, and you’ll be notified once the bride and groom have approved it!
As you can imagine, this is a sampler – just a sneak peek, detailing this extraordinary day. And extraordinarily fun day!

New Post has been published on https://www.drahtphotography.com/the-island-wedding-at-lake-oyama-sampler/

The Island Wedding at Lake Oyama Sampler
Lake Oyama is an incredible place. Just above Kelowna, it has all these small islands you can boat out to. Originally, one of these islands was meant to be the ceremony site, but it didn’t quite pan out. That being said, we did make it out there, and we got some incredible photos.
Take a look at that!
And so, we begin as always with the details. I wanted a film-like photo, because the ceremony site was so picturesque. It overlooked said islands, and our the rugs and arch completed the look.
The entire resort is divided up – there’s cabins, tents, and even an outfitted school bus for the kids to sleep in! The groom’s cabin was right by the entrance, so that’s where I went.
Over at cabin 9, our bride was nearly ready too!
And then, the procession began. The light wasn’t planned – I’m not sure how it hit like that, but I’m in love with it. I love patchy light, it’s an incredible texture.
And then, after a group photo, we ran off to the islands! I’ve been eying them for a while – it’s certainly something quite unique.
It’s an incredible experience, and one I never thought I’d have – to have an entire island to myself!
It’s wonderful, because you have so many different kinds of photos you can take – I get really into the water, the sky, the lake.
And this is how we got around!
The reception was gorgeous. A benefit of Oyama is there’s no cell phone coverage, just people living in the moment. And there were so many moments!
On the way up, there was this incredible lookout. Like nothing I’ve ever seen in Kelowna, perhaps the most gorgeous lookout in the area. We had some dinner, took a few more photos in the water for good measure, and piled into the truck for some closing shots.
Unfortunately, this is where I’ll have to leave you. There’s some incredible photos from the day, and this is just a sneak peek, a sampler. About 50 photos, so quite a large sneak peek!
The full album has so many candids, an absolutely stunning sneakaway, and even a first dance where every guest had a sparkler. There’s some unforgettable moments that you’ll love to see.
A special shoutout to the guy who moved his truck so we could get these photos!

The Backyard Wedding in Vernon, BC Sampler
I’ve known this couple for a while, and it’s been a journey. Honestly, I absolutely could not even believe how amazing the day actually was. We found this huge backyard out in the outskirts of Vernon, with lovely trees overhanging, some tall grass, a garden, and so many incredible spots nearby. Even a tea house!
But we’ll start at the beginning of the day – it was looking to be a scorcher, so I went open-collar (for those of you who know how much I love bow ties, that’s a big deal!), and started with the rings and detail shots!
The dress shot is a personal favourite. We hung it right off the top of a tree!
At the guys, the flowers had arrived. The colour worked in perfectly with the theme, and we even had some sensible groomsmen’s gifts to work in.
The men were all helping each other out – a bow tie, shoes, shirts, suspenders.
He cleans up well, but to be fair, the whole bridal party does!
Over at the bride’s house, the girls were finishing up hair. We had a lot of sun, and it was quite warm outside.
And the girls were ready!
I made my way to Coldstream. We had a backyard venue, and it was gorgeous. The sun was shining, and I even had the most incredible second shooter.
Jokes aside, I love it when guests bring real cameras. Cell phone photos just don’t look good!
Indoors, we had some last minute preparations. The guys finished off a quick beer outside, and it was time for boutonnieres. A trick with all flowers on sunny days is – put them into the fridge until the last possible moment! As this was the last possible moment, we got to work.
And outside, we have an overjoyed groom waiting for his bride.
The ceremony was so, so beautiful. There we moments we laughed, and some moments we cried. It heartfelt.
And then, my favourite time. I get to spend an hour with this crew.
And we went hard!
And lets just take a moment to admire these dress!
And these dapper fellas!
Now, a little bit of time with just the bride and groom. We had the massive parliament of green trees providing plenty of shade, and I know how to take full advantage of that!
At the reception, our food was waiting for us. The flower arrangements alone were jaw dropping, I was honestly taken aback.
I hung around, chatted with the guests, and just generally enjoyed myself. There were a lot of really interesting stories here, and I love them all.
Speaking of love, it’s nearly sunset. You know how much we love our sunset sneakaways!
The wind was blowing, highlighting our hair, and the yellow flowers had comes out just to give us those bits of colour I love.
Unfortunately, this is where I’ll have to leave you today. It was an incredible day, and so many things I couldn’t include. Wait till you see the sparkler exit! This is just a sampler, though, and a huge one over 50 photos!

The Sunny Truck Packing House Wedding Sampler
It was the sunniest of Saturdays in Kelowna, and the longest day of the year. This wedding took us from a waterfront hotel, to an old nut farm, and finishing up in the historic Laurel Packing House. I guess you could say we packed it full! I will be reusing that joke later.
We start with the details. The Grand tends to be fantastic for weddings because there’s so much to work with. If you’re a visitor to Kelowna, a walk along the lake is a must!
Nearby, the guys were getting ready. Helping each other with ties, and before too long we were ready for the first look.
Back at the girls, we were nearly ready as well!
We picked a quaint little park in the middle of Kelowna. Fortunately, everyone was at the beach, so we had it all to ourselves.
We made our way to Gellatly Nut Farm, with this wild crew!
And lets take a moment to admire these formals!
This was a little bit different of a setup – we had decided to take some photos before the ceremony, so there would be a bit more time to mingle. If there’s plenty of shade, it means some bright photos! Fortunately, those nut trees at Gellatly are quite tall, and offered plenty of shade.
Trucky 59 was all set up, and it was stunning. Michelle from Joie And Lux made sure every detail was perfect.
A quick group shot, some cider, and we were on our way to pack full Laurel Packing House!
It was absolutely stunning – the florals, the candles in the old packing house museum. We were absolutely floored.
Unfortunately, this is where I’ll have to leave you.
It was a party like you wouldn’t believe. The speeches, the slow first dance, and 100 other moments that would fill an album.
Thank you for viewing this little sneak peek! Well, it’s over 50 photos, so I wouldn’t say little.

The Forest Wedding at Timber Ridge Trails
If you haven’t heard of Timber Ridge Trails, you’re in for a surprise. It’s a huge camping-turned-wedding site, complete with acres of forest and multiple horses.
We start out at a small acreage in Vernon, with a bridal party hard at work. I got to work photographing the gorgeous details.
And soon, our bride was ready.
Over at Timber Ridge, the guys were helping each other look the most dapper.
And it certainly paid off
At the ceremony site, guests were gathering. Although the overhead sun with a little warm, we had a cool breeze to cool us down.
As you can see, things got fairly breezy. In the best way.
The ceremony was lovely, they exchanged vows in a field of flowers.
After a group shot and some family photos, we trundled off into the forest for some formals. Shade is important for many reasons, not least of which the temperature. Thankfully, we had plenty of wooded area to spare!
And these beautiful bridesmaids!
While I found a spot for some moody formals, we had a volunteer bridesmaid help us with the flowers.
And now, a few portraits of the newlyweds.
In the middle of the resort, we had our reception. This is quite handy – no driving around after the formals! The sun had begun to set, and guests were hungry!
Of course, the moment the sun began to set, we ran out get some sunset sneakaway photos!
Unfortunately, this is where I’ll have to leave you! This is a big sneak peek, at over 40 photos! If you’d like to be notified once the gallery is ready, click here to be added to the list. Until then, you can save any of these photos to your device by long pressing them.

The Summerhill Estate House Wedding Sampler
Today was full of surprises – mermaids, the fireworks, and this incredible sneakaway. A fella with a saxophone. We’ll dive right into it – in a magical place called Summerhill Estates.
We start with the details, as always. The house, itself, blew me away. It’s an older Franklin Wright styled mansion with immaculate attention to detail. It was like every oversized window was place to cover every corner with light.
And nearly right away, our groom was ready. We had a first look quite soon, and family photos, so there was no time to waste!
We decided on a nearby park for the first look. We were in luck – we had the whole area to ourselves! You could see the bright okanagan June sun filter through the trees, making for some incredible lighting.
A few glasses of refreshment, and we were ready for a few formals! It’s sometimes a bit more difficult to take photos with overhead sun – but so rewarding when it turns out just perfect!
But there’s more, as you’ll see quite a few times in this sampler. Right by the stables, we had a very special horse, and now a part of this wedding album! We jumped into my car to drive over to where the horses are.
Our first look complete, it was time for the ceremony! Back at Summerhill, guests had arrived, and we were all ready for the big moment.
The setting was beautiful, overlooking kelowna a little after high noon. Couches were set up for guests, and even the puppies had nearby water.
The ceremony was so beautiful. Heartfelt vows, and so many candid moments.
After, we had a lot of activities for everyone. There was a magician, and a photo frame that turned out to be quite popular! For puppies and for guests!
And then…speeches. I can’t tell you how beautiful they were. Her mother showed us a biography. Her father shared some wonderful stories. It was just incredible, with the sunset rays streaming through the trees.
Speaking of sunset, it was time for a sneakaway! I had scoped out a nearby mountain view, that’s awe-inspiring (in my estimation) and the best sunset viewing spot in West Kelowna.
We got the last few seconds of the sun disappearing behind those mountains. My favourite part was how they couldn’t keep their eyes off each other.
Back at the house, the pool party was in full swing, and the sax was playin’ loud!
And it’s nearly time to end this sampler – over 60 pictures, can you believe it? It goes quickly. But just before I called it a night, our groom had one more trick up his sleeve.
Yup, an incredible fireworks show! Everyone was absolutely taken aback at this unexpected surprise! But this is where Ill have to end it – they’ll be more photos, in about two weeks roughly. You can add your name to the wait list here!
And that’s all for now! If you’d like to stay updated on my progress, pop by my instagram or facebook! Talk to you soon!

The English Garden Wedding Sampler
The rain threatened us all day. As I write this, it’s 2am and it’s absolutely torrenting. That’s just because it held back so much, we had the dramatic cloudy skies with none of the raindrops.
But, at the start of the day, I knew I was in the right house because the mantle told me so.
So we start out in Kelowna, with the sun shining right through. Today, adventure awaits.
You’re probably starting to figure out there’s a theme, with sunflowers and bright colours.
…And an absolutely jaw-dropping dress!
The girls were busy, dressing, steaming, makeup, and hair.
And so, I made my way over to the guys’. Details were ready for me, shoes, flowers, pup.
The men were a flurry of activity, ironing and learning to tie a necktie.
And, soon enough, he was ready.
Back at the girls, they were just finishing up.
Did you see the sunflowers there?
We gathered up the dress, it was a big moment, one of many to come.
And then, she was ready. Her father had arrived several minutes before, so he walked up the stairs, to be the first to see her.
As you can probably imagine, this proud father was almost in tears.
There wasn’t a dry eye in the room. So I left, the ceremony was too soon.
At My Garden, the clouds were teasing us, but just the lovely texture of storm clouds. Guests had arrived, and I was delighted to see my second shooter was already at work. Unfortunately, I had been unable to supply him with equipment, but he was confident he could dig around and find something.
And the ceremony had begun. It was lovely, it rained a little, but only a few sprinkles. They couldn’t look, until they did, then they couldn’t keep their eyes off each other.
It was perfect, handwritten vows, a few well-placed jokes, and and absolute stunning of a first kiss.
After a group shot, and some family photos, we took off to a nearby park. Getting some time with the bridal party is just my favourite, and these were a rambunctious bunch.
In the best way!
So, let’s take a moment here for just a few shoutouts. These bridesmaids are absolutely amazing.
First, this girl. Thank you for lending us the use of your house. I’m sorry I had to rearrange everything, I can just imagine the time it’ll take to put everything back. You are an amazing host.
And this girl – thank you for taking bridal duty so seriously! You were running after us, carrying flowers, supplying drinks, and just generally being amazing all day. It made the day go so smoothly, and you did it with such a smile!
And this girl, when I ask to run on up, she did so without hesitation, because that’s who she was, the whole day. On it!
I am a very happy photographer today!
Now, for the groomsmen….
They sure brought the party too!
And speaking of the party, we asked them to hang back a little – it’s the time of the day I enjoy most, some moments with the new bride and groom!
Our reception was at Sunset Ranch, and it certainly lived up to its name. However, if it had been called Dance Ranch, it would have for sure lived up to its name. But more on that in a bit.
The bride and groom had put out a globe, and everyone signed it.
And I wish I had more space here, honestly I do. This is a sampler, an especially large sampler, at nearly 90 photos. The rest of them will be ready in about two weeks, and you can see them if you like! Requests will be approved by the new couple, but click here to add your email to the list!
And I can’t begin to tell you how wild the night was. If you look careful, you can see a few reactions. I will be the first to admit – many of these photos need more context.
Things got goofy today, and there were a lot of heartfelt speeches, like with so much preparation. It was an emotional rollercoaster, and one I was so happy to be there for.
And the dancing….
Everyone joined in.
And this is where I’ll leave you. I’m not how many of you made it this far, but if you did, thank you for reading this far. The full album will be ready in a few weeks, and there’s so many more beautiful photos.

The Almost Rainy Wedding at My Garden Sampler
It did actually rain today – but only briefly, during the family formals. Plus it gives that first kiss the dramatic edge, with those rain clouds coming in.
And the lighting was so unique – clouds, to patchy sun, to a beautiful sunset. Let’s start with the details. Take a look at this ring!
The dress, and the flowers were quite stunning as well. I picked up on a theme.
At the hotel, the boys were helping each other out. Putting on bow ties, learning to tie a pocket square, and just helping each other out in general.
It turns out he cleans up nicely.
We had a very nervous groom, ready for his big day.
Back at the house, the girls were just finishing up too. Happy crying, Makeup, hair, and of course the dress.
Over at the BEAUTIFUL My Garden , the storm clouds were teasing us. If you haven’t been there before, it’s this gorgeous little ceremony site overlooking Kal Lake, near Kelowna.
The limo had just arrived, and so it was time.
Emotional can’t nearly explain it. The vows were handwritten, and so darn heartfelt. When the gallery is available in a few weeks, you’re going to see a lot of crying.
When he read out his vows to her, I’ve never seen her smile so big.
And that’s when the rain finally began, so we went off to photograph some formals. But not before the mothers smothered them in love.
And so, we had a pretty fun time with this crew. We had to hide from the rain, but soon it gave out and the sun came through.
I like my photos to look natural, unposed, where the personality can really come through. Absolutely it did here.
And these beautiful bridesmaids!
And my favourite time, with the bride and groom. We had a bit more time than normal, and the lighting was so patchy. It made for some really unique photos.
And of course, a few fun photos. This is absolutely who these two are.
At the Vernon Golf and Country, Greg had made sure everything was perfect. It was a really jam-packed evening!
I’d like to give a shoutout to this guy, and his lovely girlfriend. He knew an astounding amount about wedding trivia, and I respect that. Plus I want to make sure he gets this picture now, instead of having to wait two weeks.
For a lot of you, though, if you would like to see the photos when they’re done, click here to be added to the list. This is a pre-registration link – so the bride and groom will have to approve you, and they can hide photos as well. Which, there’s a lot of tears and really emotional moments, so it might happen.
But my goodness, there were so many beautiful moments, and so many candids.
So this is the sampler, a little over 50 photos. It’s a sneak peek of the full wedding gallery. A pretty big sneak peek if you ask me! The full album is so much more complete. It has some wonderful first dances, a lot of happy tears, and just so many candid moments!
Thank you for reading this far! If you’d like to save any images, long-press on them and an option should pop up.
If you’d like, follow me on instagram, facebook, or tumblr! Instagram is especially fun, because I post videos of me going through photos.
That’s all for now. Enjoy!
