This is actually a really good perspective and explains why the MCU is the way it is. It is essentially one-off entertainment without the backup of DVD sales (of course Disney being Disney it is still backed up by massive merchandise and spin off sales). The movie is designed to be “disposable”. The rewatch value is low because it’s not intended to be sold on DVD for people to treasure and rewatch every year at Christmas (or whenever) with family. The idea is to generate hype, through manufacturing controversy or teases or gossip. Keeping spoilers under wrap is integral because the rewatch value is negligible. It hinges on surprise or shock (or wtf value) to entice audiences to give up their money to see it in theatres. It is about spectacle, about being loud and colourful and busy, so that for the first 30 minutes after you walk out your senses are still buzzing and you feel like that was worth your $30 or however much. It takes a while for your brain to come back online after the sensory overload to then try to pick apart the plot, and by that stage it doesn’t matter, you’ve already hyped it up to your friends.
And the story or characterisation doesn’t matter because no one is watching that again to care.
I see people talking about the Brave browser in the whole Firefox vs chrome debate, and while people rightly point out that it's just chromium and that they do shady cryptocurrency shit, I never see anyone point out that Brave's founder and CEO is Brandan Eich.

- You cannot be judge, jury and executioner because the division of powers was created for a reason; to remain impartial and try to keep corruption to a minimum.
- Every single living person has human rights. Including the most evil people you could ever meet. Those people have a right to live, to get healthcare, to eat and to have a job. YES, even evil people.
I've seen a lot of people talk about abolishing prison, because it's the cool, new hip thing that everyone is talking about. And instead of understand what it means, they think it's the liberation of wrongfully imprisoned minorities - which it is. But also:
Prison abolition means setting up a system of psychological and physical help for the people whom are deemed dangerous to society. Yes, that includes Evil Fucking People. Recovery and rehabilitation should be the goal, not incarceration. THAT is abolishing prison.
Of course I want that abusive piece of shit father who abused his children to die. I want him dead! DEAD. But it does not mean that that's what I want as an official law, because as much as I'd love to see him dead, the betterment of society and the rehabilitation and development of a human fucking being is important.

Taking a deep breath, he heaved you up, pressing your close against his chest. Grimacing, he looks down at your face, concern painted over it. Leaning down, he presses a gentle kiss on your cold lips, shivering slightly.

He pulls you into a sitting position, making you groan, but he ignores it as he tries to get you to stand. This plan, does not work, as you slump back into his arms. He holds you close, his face inches from yours. He didn’t want to see you like this, and it takes everything for him not to rage out of control.
Gazing into your eyes, he whispers, “I will never forgive you if you leave me heartbroken like this.”

She holds your hand tightly in hers, a frown on her face. She squeezes your hand tightly, her eyes gazing upon you. Her eyes were glazed over, but not a single fear appeared.
“You are going to be fine,” she proclaimed.
But she wasn’t sure. She tried to keep her composure, but it proved to be hard when she sees you dying in front of her. Playing cool and putting in a facade was better for you to not worry, and better for her to not cry. Your presence was the only thing that could her fast-beating heart.
“I’ll make sure if it.”

But you were not fine, and they knew it. They take your hand, intertwining your fingers. They grip your tightly, a tight smile on their face. They didn’t want to see you go, and they wouldn’t see you go. But now, they seemed helpless.

Also just to give my opinion on when you asked if your scenario asks should be semi-long or short, I personally prefer longer since we can get a good look at ROs thoughts, especially if it’s a something that won’t happen in-game anyways.
But! It’s ultimately up to you in the end and how you wanna present your characters! Or maybe even some days you might not feel like doing one or the other, doesn’t even have to be consistent really, just do as you feel like!
I really enjoy this premise and the whole slew of shenanigans that’s can ensue for isekai genre - aka mc ending up in a completely different setting from their actual world… and the whole ‘Blue’ thing is very interesting 😆 Your scenario answers are all fun so far and your writing is very interesting! Can’t wait for the demo to drop and meet the characters officially!
I think I might make longer asks, depending on who directly asked for it. But if they don’t, I’ll just write it as long or short I want. And for you, you wanted something long, so I did my best.

Lane ~ At the ball
Lane watched you mingle, your smile adoring the kingdom. Adoring the guests. Adoring him. He droned out the conversation he was having with the nobles, and his eyes sought out yours. You catch his gaze and toss him a loving smile, different from the one you showed the crowd. He grinned back, but his smile dropped once he realized that some people would have witnessed it. He’s one for subtlety gazes and glances, and he never smiles in public unless it’s to menacingly threaten someone. And you just got him to smile. The thought registered in his mind and he was thoroughly shocked and…confused. You made him feel actual feelings. Feelings that he had never felt towards someone he was involved with. “An involvement”…is that what he would say? It was a relationship, a romance, a love. A love. The thought of loving you drained the color from his face. He didn’t think he was meant for love, especially meant to love you. But when he glances your way again and notices the twinkle in your eyes as you stare at him, you know you’re meant to love him. And he loves you already.
Simon ~ In his bed
Once he woke up, he stared at you. He laid his head in his hand as he leaned over you. You dreamed peacefully, sleeping on your side. His fingers dropped down and he skimmed the tips over your collarbone, causing you to shift. He’s never watched a person he’s shared his bed with. For him, it was only a night with them, but once you came along, it’s been night after night. And he hasn’t had enough. He thinks about the way you laugh and smile when he tries to elicit you to join in sexual affairs. But he’s never enjoyed that more than talking to you. Seeing you happy. Seeing you in love. You love him. And he knows it. He’s been a fan favorite of enough people to know when they’re in love with him. He smiles softly to himself. But he didn’t mind if you were in love with him, because he was falling in love with you too. As the thought hits him, realization dawns on his face, and he eased down onto the pillows, dropping his hand. He turned his back to you but kept a close distance. Falling in love was wild to him. He might need some time to think it through.
Henery ~ In his room
Henery glanced up at you as you weaved the leaves into a perfect trap. You were helping him create traps for the forest animals. He wasn’t sure if he liked it. If he liked you taking time out of your day to do a job that wasn’t yours. But you insisted and he didn’t say no. Even when he wanted to. Emotionally, he’s always been withdrawn, but he feels like he opened up enough with you to start a relationship. He sneered. A relationship. You were romantically involved, but it couldn’t be a relationship. You two were just enjoying time together. Nothing more. But was it more? He listened to you cheer happily as you finished your third trap perfectly. He almost smiled at the triumph. Almost. He thought he liked the quiet more, but he doesn’t mind your company. He minds the feelings he feels when he’s in your company. The emotions constrict his heart and he couldn’t ignore it lie he wanted. He has to admit he was falling in love. Or not. He doesn’t want to admit it.
B ~ At the Training Grounds
B smiled as they fixed your posture, helping you line up the arrow to the target. They widen your stance before stepping back. You toss them a smile before pulling back the bow string and releasing the arrow. At that time, everything went in slow motion. B didn’t watch the arrow soar to the target. They watched you. Mesmerized in your concentration and steadiness. They admired you, to say the least. They loved you. The statement was not a new one they had that thought mingling in the back of their head for quite some time. But this was the first time they thought it loudly and understood what it meant. It meant they were in love with you and you didn’t know. They didn’t know how to mention this to you, but they knew it had to be a special moment. As special as you are.
Samara ~ At the Kingdom of Red
Samara raised her pinky, encouraging you to do the same. You picked up the tiny teacup, lifting your pinky to a certain degree in the air. She gave you a tight smile. Not quite, but good enough. You return her smile, sipping your tea. She watched you through her eyelashes, ignoring the pinky. A thought occurred to her as she watched. That you never turn down her company for any reason. Even when it’s to learn perfect tea manners, which she knows it’s not something you’re interested in. She’s never appreciated that enough. She’s never appreciated you enough. Never appreciated your smile, your beautiful eyes, and your amazing personality. Never appreciated your love. Your love that was never returned from Samara. But deep down, she knew that her love was far greater than yours, but she always hid it. But as she gazed at you, the love grows, and she instantly knows she was falling for you. Hard.
M ~ In the kitchens
You knead the dough roughly into the table, grunting with effort. M laughs, enjoying the frustration shown in your face. You shoot them a glare, and they shut up, but a smile remains on their lips. A smile always remains on their lips no matter what you do or say. They’re only capable of a single expression when you’re around and they’re not mad about it. They tell you a few jokes as you flatten the dough and you laugh loudly. The laugh fluttered in their ears and they enjoyed the sound immensely. They wanted you to laugh forever, and they would try their best. Their favorite thing in the world is to make you happy, and they would think they’re doing a great job. But a confession nagged them in the back of their head. They liked you very much. Very much. That’s all they could think of and that’s what they said to you before. You told them you liked them very much also, but they couldn’t help but feel it’s much stronger than “like.” It’s stronger than love. But there’s nothing stronger than love so it must be equal to love. And oh blue, they were in love with you very much.

How to write a cane user character

A few months ago, I wrote a small guide on good disabled characters and why they were good that gathered quite the attention, and I thought that doing another more specific guide this time would be interesting for writers or just people that are curious ! This guide will include general informations, some things to do, some things to avoid and some ideas that might revolve cane users's lives.
Things to know about cane users
Cane users are pretty diverse, and putting us in little boxes usually isn't the best idea if you want to make a character that has substance and isn't just "the disabled one". Here some infos about cane users that might be helpful knowledge !
- Canes don't have ages. Most cane users in media are portrayed to be old, but truly, anyone can have the need to wield a cane ! I've been using mine ever since I was 17.
- Can users can have a large variety of problems for their canes. Some canes are used to avoid pain from effort. Some canes are used for balance purposes. Some canes are to make walking less exhausting (works the same as walking sticks !) And sometimes, it's multiple problems at once.
- Not everyone needs their cane 24/7. Some always need it, some can make small efforts without it but overall often need it, and some people, like me, can spend quite a lot of time without it. I almost never use my cane in my house, and mostly take it outside !
- People with canes can run. We're not necessarily slow, I'm even faster than a lot of my friends.
- Not using a cane can come with consequences, but not always. Some people might be able to walk without a cane but then suffer horrible consequences, but for others, canes are just a commodity for specific occasions.
- Canes don't have to be looked down upon. Look at some characters with canes that look cool as hell ! Arsène Lupin, Roguefort Cookie, Brook ... Their canes serve their style !
- We can be pretty healthy. Some people can have canes just because they were born with a bent leg and that's it. Our cane doesn't define our health status.
- Canes aren't a curse. Think of them as something positive. It's a tool to make our lives better. You don't see someone sitting on a chair and think "awh, it's sad that they need a chair". It's more something like "hey it's cool that this chair is here so they can sit down"
Things to do
- Make them use their cane. And when I mean use, I mean that canes are just funky long sticks usually made out of metal. Have fun with it ! Let them use it as a weapon ! Trust me, one hit in the knees with a cane and you're DOWN. Use it to reach stuff that's too high for everyone ! Have fun. Be creative.
- Let them decorate their cane. It's an extension of their body ! You usually put on clothes that you like, don't you ? It's the same for a cane. If they like cutesy stuff, let them paint in it pastel colors ! If they like a more flashy style, add some stickers on it ! If they're a fancy person, give them a beautiful crafted cane with jewels on it !
- You can make them a little shy or uneasy about their cane. Some people don't feel worthy of confident enough to wield one. It's not rare to see people think they're "not disabled enough to do so"
- But on the other hand, you can do the complete opposite !! Make them proud of that cane ! Make them act like they're feeling pretty and more confident with it ! One thing i like to think about with my own cane is that I look like a cool gentleman. That boosted my confidence immensely.
Things to avoid
- Don't make it their whole world. And by that, I do not mean that their cane shouldn't be a defining trait of their personality. Think of Toph from ATLA. She is blind, and you usually can't think of her character without describing her as blind. However, that isn't her entire personality trait. Make cane users have a goal in life, friends who enjoy them for who they are and not just pity them, have fun ... Don't just make them the disabled one.
- Don't try to make the character's life just a plain disaster unless it's the focus of your story and you really know what you're talking about. Having a character who's always in pain, who feels bad about relying on their cane and/or who's angry at the entire world for being disabled is a REALLY tricky subject to use if you don't want them to be either a mass of unhappiness and angst for no good reason or some inspirational porn of the character who inside is deeply tortured but outside keeps up a facade because they shouldn't cry to avoid making others uneasy.
- Do not, and I repeat, do NOT try to heal them, especially in a magical way. Bad idea. A lot of disabled people's goal isn't to be healed. It's to live a normal life. Making it so the ultimate goal for them is to be healed makes it as if they were worthless as long as they were disabled. Making their situation better physically or mentally is one thing. Curing them completely is really bad. "But some disabled folks want to be cured !" True, true. But if you are able bodied, I'm not sure if you can have the right mind to understand all of the complex details about this situation that leads to someone's life choices and the end result may look like you think the only thing that can make disabled people happy is being freed from their condition. I think it's best to just avoid it altogether. If you need a more nuanced idea, try to give them a solution that still has a few downs ! For exemple, a prosthetic that feels like a real arm, acts like a real arm and basically replaces it perfectly is a full cure. But a prosthetic that takes time to adjust to, needs repairs sometimes and doesn't look 100% like an arm can be a better narrative choice
- Smaller thing, but don't make the handle uneasy to wield if you draw the character design. You can decorate most of the cane, but if you have chunky spiky decorations on the place you're supposed to clench your hand over, you're gonna hurt yourself. I've seen quite a lot of jewel handles or sculpted metal handles and usually their not good. If it's detailed metal, your hand will end up cramped in little parts and it can hurt. If it's a jewel, it's so easy for it to slip out of your hand it's unpractical.
List of tropes/ideas of scenes/details about canes to help you write new situations !
- If you walk with a cane during winter, you can't put your hand in your jacket to get warm and there's a high chance your hand will get freezing. So after a long walk, you get an excuse for another character to hold their hand and warm them up.
- If the handle is metallic, you get the opposite problem during summer. You can burn yourself so easy ! Easy accident if you want someone to help and get closer to the disabled person without it necessarily involving their disability.
- Canes are SUPER useful when you're walking upon heights. They make things really easy, just like hiking poles on mountains ! I live on volcanoes and whenever we clim on a harsh slope, I'm always the first to get up there. Good moment for your character to get a boost of confidence if they get all the way up somewhere before their friends !
- The first time using your cane feels magical. If you have chronic pains, it makes you feel like your pain disapear. If you can't walk right, it feels like everything is suddenly alright. The moment where a character chooses to wield a cane can be huge for character development. It's a moment of fear because of the impact a cane has on their appearance, but also a moment of confidence and relief.
- Canes fall. All the time. And after a while, it becomes fucking comical. Trust me, putting a cane against the wall, seeing it fall and doing it three times again in a row while it doesn't want to stay up makes you embarrassed but also makes you want to laugh because of how stupid it looks.
- When you get a cane, you stop being invisible. When you walk outside, generally speaking, people don't look at you. They don't care about you. But when you get a cane, people start to stare at you for no other reasons that you have a cane. Half of them are just curious, especially if you're young. The other half has a very specific look. The "oh, you poor thing" look. Which is, trust me, particularly awful to get, especially when you're just existing and doing nothing special. How does your character react to this ? How do they feel about it ?
I believe that is all I had in mind. I may add some more details in the future if I get other ideas, but this should already be a good start. I would be thrilled to answer questions if you have some, either in my askbox or through DMs.
