Look who’s digging their own grave That is what they all say; you’ll drink yourself to death Look who makes their own bed, lies right down within it And what will you have left? Out on the front doorstep, drinking from a paper cup You won’t remember this Living beyond your years, acting out all their fears You feel it in your chest

even with those four numbers there are countless possible combinations good luck with figuring out which one is the right one you punk

*straightens calculator*

It’s pretty likely that it’s a four digit number, and as there are four digits chosen there, that means that there cannot be any repetition. This mean that there are:

n!/(n-4)! possible orders. As ‘n’ is 4 (number of digits available). 4!/0! which becomes 4x3x2x1/1 which simplifies to 24. That means that there are 24 possible combinations of codes. This would take you about two or three minutes to input all possible codes.

Unless an alarm goes off if you don’t get it right in 3 tries

*straightens calculator again*

Kick the fucking door in

well ‘technically’ the code is most likley 1970. statistically, a majority of people, when told to choose a 4 digit code will choose their birth year. and this key pad is obviously a few years old to put it nicely, thats most likley it.

some sherlock holmes shit just went down over here

No, no, no. Don’t base your deductions of psychology. Let’s talk chemistry. When you first press a button, there’s more of the natural oils on your skin, and therefore it wears down the numbers on the keys faster. Obviously 0 is the first one, then. Try 0791 first.

Sherlock out.

woah.

it got better

and this is why the sherlock fandom could either rule the world or end it….

Close, but not quite, I think. People will almost always choose a number they can remember. What’s memorable about 0791? Try 0719 - a birthday, 19th of July. That is more likely.

Those deductions are great and all, but unnecessary.

The light is green.

The door is already open.

And that’s why we have a John Watson.

This is “top 10 favorite posts” level.

Omg, it’s actually on my dash! This post is like a fossil!

Idk if I’ve rebloged this before, but I’ll reblog this legend again

Why did Tumblr stop doing stuff like this, it’s genuinely fascinating, and cute that we include our favorite media in things we do

Well. Since you asked. I was on tumblr as this post was being built in 2013. The height of superwholock. Which has, since then, been declared peak cringe. So people picked new fandoms to openly love in earnest. Which were also eventually declared cringe. Eventually the youth decided to cut out the middleman, and declared loving anything in earnest to be fully cringe. So it has been a really long time since the day to day users of tumblr have let any fandom create anything nearing the cultural phenomenon that was superwholock. And it is exactly those cultural phenomena that are needed to create posts like this.

So. What happened? Cringe culture happened.

Try and imagine what would happen if this post wasn’t the “sacred texts” only ever seen in screen shots and in pinterest. Try and imagine any current pop culture detective media fandom creating this post today. They’d be slaughtered for being cringe by the time (in this case) Sherlock was mentined.

But because this post is 10 years old and completely broke containment, it’s celebrated when it graces our dashes.

I blazed a small fandom event announcement.  Because I was genuinely excited to be part of a Big Bang for a wonderful movie.  One of the first responses I got was “Why would you blaze this?” Because of genuine excitement. Because I wanted to celebrate the friends I’d met in the fandom To spread joy to people who might also like the content but hadn’t seen it yet.   The fact that that was genuinely not realized made me sad.  I love thing, I celebrate thing.   I’m too old for cringe.  Cringe is dead.  Love what you love.  Enjoy the small things in life, it’s too short to do otherwise.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.

Reblog if you have used dude as a non gender specific term.

where I grew up in California not only is “dude” generally non-gender-specific, half of the time it doesn’t even refer to a person at all.

I said it to a faucet today.

dude is a way of life

Poison Ivy: Batman. [sighs] I’m guessing you’ve come to stop me from lacing the city’s water supplies with my latest creation?
Batman: [glares]
Poison Ivy: [crosses her arms] even more quiet than usual tonight
Batman: [glare intensifies]
Poison Ivy: [awkwardly] Sooo…
Nightwing: [from behind her] Robin jinxed him
Poison Ivy: [startles]
Poison Ivy: wait… jinx as in…
Nightwing: as in he can’t speak until someone says his name
Nightwing: which of course isn’t allowed while he’s wearing the cape and all
Poison Ivy: so you’re going with him to speak for him?
Nightwing: what? No
Nightwing: my wi-fi is down
Nightwing: I’m desperate for entertainment
[mid-argument]
Clark: listen Bruce, I don’t doubt that you’ve done your best raising your kids but you haven’t really given them a clear set of morals beyond the “no killing” rule
Bruce: [annoyed] Dick, come over here and tell Clark that I’ve always taught you to be honest and kind
Dick: Bruce has always told me that honesty is the best policy. And that it’s important to treat people like you want to be treated
Clark: [pleasantly surprised] really?
Bruce: I’ve always had a clear set of rules in place for my children. Frankly, I’m insulted that you would think otherwise
-years earlier-
Bruce: There are two rules in this house that are absolute
Dick Grayson: [9 years old] ok
Bruce: one; no killing
Bruce: two; always lie to Clark if I tell you to
[Caught by Penguin's goons and tied to chairs in a warehouse, waiting for the cavalry]
Red Robin: I'm gonna say it. Shakespeare is overrated.
Red Hood: Ok, first of all: how dare you. Second of all: how DARE you?
Red Robin: He's boring and Romeo and Juliet is ridiculous bullshit.
Red Hood: Counterpoint. Romeo and Juliet was always meant to be satire and if you read it with the knowledge that teenagers are idiots it's actually a fantastic, mean commentary on teenage romance.
Red Robin: The only way I'll accept that argument is if he was purposefully making fun of a particular pair of teenagers that he knew in real life and "Romeo and Juliet" was really Shakespeare being petty and mocking his cousin or something.
Red Hood: You- yeah that would be great actually.
Red Robin: Right? Still, my original point stands: Shakespeare is given way too much credit. So he invented some words. big whoop.
Red Hood: He basically invented the English language!
Red Robin: He better have considering the lenght of some of the monologues.
Red Hood: Look, thanks to Shakespeare we get to study dick jokes in school. There are so many dick jokes! How can you NOT like him?
Red Robin: One would think you'd be over Dick jokes, growing up in our family.
Red Hood: Well where do you think I get most of my material??
Red Robin: I'll concede that Macbeth is okay, but the rest of his tragedies? I mean, Hamlet? More like Ham-let-me-out-of-this-AP-English-class
Red Hood: One, that was sub-par and I expect better from you. Two; are you seriously going after HAMLET?
Red Robin: [snorts] Of COURSE you would enjoy a play about a death-obsessed dude with daddy issues and a thirst for revenge.
Red Hood: OK, POINT! But I'm still HELLA insulted. And Shakespeare is a master at exploring the human condition!
Red Robin: [rolls his eyes]
Red Hood: [to one of the Henchmen guarding them] Hey, you! With the ski-mask and bad enough judgement to wear sneakers to a gunfight!
Henchman: Uh... yea?
Red Hood: Back me up here. Shakespeare is a cultural icon.
Henchman: well, uh, he always kinda bored me in school
Red Robin: A-HA!
Red Hood: Oh shut up. Since when are Penguin's goons the go-to authority on literature
Red Robin: Since Shakespeare gets way too much credit because of fanboys like you.
Red Hood: Says the man who CRIED about the Hobbit movies. Several times.
Red Robin: THEY RUINED IT. EXCELLENT PRECEDENCE, EXCELLENT SOURCE MATERIAL AND THEY-
Boss Henchman: [barges in] what the fuck is going on in here? Who's making so much fucking noise?
Red Hood: [inclines his head towards Red Robin] Red Robin here thinks Shakespeare is overrated.
Boss Henchman: [immidiately involved] YOU'RE INSULTING THE BARD? HE BASICALLY INVENTED THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE
Red Hood: [mimicking Red Robin] A-HA!
Red Robin: Look, if you want to stan an author who made a comedy about gaslighting and subjugating a woman through marriage be my guest but I'm different
Boss Henchman: That's a bullshit argument
Henchman #2 -a woman: Nah, he's got a legit point.
Red Robin: Thank you!
Red Hood: One bad play doesn't mean you can diminish the impact of his work as a whole
Red Robin: Oh CAN'T I?
Boss Henchman: I will not stand here and see the Bard slighted in my own house- warehouse- whatever!
-----20 minutes later-----
Boss Henchman: -HISTORICAL CONTEXT
Red Robin: SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING A SEXIST APOLOGIST WOULD SAY
Red Hood: THAT'S NOT EVEN-
-----40 minutes later-----
Boss Henchman: SHAKESPEARE SHOWED ME THAT WORDS CAN BE BEAUTIFUL
Henchman #1: I WENT TO AN ALL BOYS SCHOOL!! THEY MADE ME PLAY JULIET DO YOU EVEN KNOW HOW MUCH SHIT I GOT ON THE STREETS
-----70 minutes later-----
Red Hood: YOUNG LEONARDO DI CAPRIO WAS A LEGIT SNACC AND IF YOU SAY ANYTHING ELSE YOU'RE LYING
Red Robin: SO WATCH GANGS OF NEW YORK AT LEAST THAT'S INTERESTING
-----90 minutes later-----
Red Robin: THE FUCKING BARREL SCENE!! WHAT EVEN WAS THAT?!!
-----2 hours later-----
Red Hood: HE TAUGHT HISTORY TO THE MASSES!
Red Robin: HE TAUGHT ME HOW TO SLEEP IN CLASS WITHOUT GETTING CAUGHT IS WHAT HE DID
-----2,5 hours later-----
Boss Henchman: [pointing a gun at Henchman #1] HOW DARE YOU CALL OTHELLO A LI'L BITCH-
Henchman #2: [Hits Boss Henchman over the head with a chair] JUSTICE FOR KATHERINA
Red Robin: [Cheering] GET HIM, SUSAN
-----4 hours later-----
------The Batcave------
Bruce: [tiredly, rubbing the bridge of his nose] Ok, tell me again how you managed to escape.
Tim and Jason: [glancing at each other]
Tim: First off, I'd like to state for the record that we had everything perfectly under control.

Justice League Meeting

Superman: where's Batman? The meeting was supposed to start 20 minutes ago.
Wonderwoman: could he be in danger?
Green Arrow: someone maybe should call him BEFORE we go into defcon 1
Superman: [calls the bat-line]
Oracle: [answers] this is O. How can I help?
Superman: Hi Oracle. Batman was supposed to be at the tower 20 minutes ago. Do you know where he is?
Oracle: let me check... yeah, he's at the cave, I can connect you to the security cameras?
Superman: Please.
Oracle: ok.
-The batcave shows up on screen, Bruce and some of the kids present-
Batman: [Mid sentence] -OUTRAGEOUS STUNT!!
Damian: [scowling, arms crossed] -tt-
Batman: Do NOT scoff at me, young man!
Jason: [snorts]
Batman: Are you Laughing?! This is reckless even by YOUR standards Jason!
Jason: yeah... but you said-
Batman: [menacing] What?!
Jason: [looks at Dick and mimes "young man"]
Batman: Don't look at-
Dick: [loudly and jovially] THERE'S NO NEED TO FEEL DOWN
Batman: Wh-
Steph: I said YOUNG MAN [spins to point at Tim]
Tim: [Fingerguns at Steph] Pick yourself off the ground!
Batman: [floundering] En-
Dick: I said YOUNG MAN
Jason: 'Cause you're in a new town!
Duke: [from the locker rooms] There's no need to be unhappy!
Batman: [to Duke] You're not even in trouble!
Steph and Tim: YOUNG MAN there's a place you can go!
Dick: [throws an arm around Jason's shoulders] I said YOUNG MAN! When you're short on your dough!
Jason: You can STAY THERE!
Batman: That's EN-
Dick and Jason: [turn to Damian, grinning expectantly] and I'm sure you will find-!!
Damian: [glaring and without enthusiasm] ...many ways to have a good time.
Batman: Don't-
All the batkids: [chorusing] It's fun to stay at the B-A-T CAVE
Batman: [finally loses it] WHY???!!
-
Superman: ...
Green Arrow: ...well someone has to say it.
The Flash: That he should get an award for parenting that lot?
Green Arrow: that clearly inherited behaviour has nothing to do with genetics. I grew up with Bruce Wayne; he deserves every second of this

Stakeout

Batman: Oracle, status report.
Oracle: [over the comms] the teams are all in position. Things are quiet so far.
Batman: Hm. Ok, thank you Oracle. I’ll check in on them. [switches over to Nightwing and Robin’s frequency]
-
Nightwing: -nd I’ve already bought it! You need to socialise more; this is an important part of your childhood.
Robin: No.
Nightwing: It’s so cute, though. You’ll look adorable!
Robin: [with feeling] No.
Nightwing: [huffs] At least try it on; I already paid for it.
Robin: I am NOT going trick-or-treating.
Batman: …[switches over to Orphan and Batgirl’s comms]
-
Batgirl: -so then I said “you put that hand anywhere near me again I’ll break it off” and he-
Orphan: B is listening now.
Batgirl: oh, hey B. Anyway then we had sex and he had this-
Batman: [cuts off the feed before he becomes even more traumatised] …
Batman: …ok. [tunes into Red Robin and Red Hood’s frequency]
-
Red Hood: [in a fake posh voice] the handyman?!!! How could you DO this to me Dolores?!
Red Robin: [in a high-pitched voice] How could I?!! How could I NOT?? You married your office long before I ever fucked Juan-Eduardo!
Red Hood: Don’t you DARE put this on me! I knew I shouldn’t have hired that ridiculously good looking sonofabitch!
Red Robin: Hah! Well that wouldn’t have stopped me from sleeping with CHAD!
Red Hood: NO!
Red Robin: [Triumphantly] OH YES
Red Hood: NO! MY BEST FRIEND?? WILL THE LIES NEVER END DOLORES??
Red Robin: YES! And let me tell you- he was SO MUCH better than you. He-
Red Hood: YOU’RE TEARING ME APART DOLORES
Red Robin: [breaking character] nice one
Red Hood: thank you
Batman: [over the comms] what are you DOING?
Red Robin: Hi B. There’s a couple in the building across from us who’re having a huge fight. We’re giving them voices.
Red Hood: [in his fake voice] Look at all these papers! These papers that I’m waving around! Look at them!!
Red Robin: [as “Dolores”] Well if you love your papers so much why don’t you MARRY THEM?
Red Hood: MAYBE I WILL
Red Robin: I HATE YOU! I have always hated you! and what’s more- I HATE your MOTHER.
Red Hood: [gasps] MY MOTHER IS A SAINT AND A GIFT TO MANKIND
Red Robin: YOUR MOTHER IS A DECREPIT OLD WHORE
Red Hood: I WILL- DON’T YOU WALK AWAY FROM ME DOLORES
Red Robin: [hisses] Whenever the Mets play, I wish they would lose.
Red Hood: [gasps] YOU BETRAY ME LIKE THIS?? ME -the man who obviously bought every piece of Mets Merch known to man and display them in every room of our apartment like a tool?! HOW COULD YOU??!
Red Robin: Well what are you gonna do about it? HUH?
Red Hood: WHAT AM I GONNA DO? I’LL TELL YOU WHAT I’LL DO! I’M GONNA TAKE THIS GUN- [breaks character] Ohmygod he’s got a gun! Shit fuck moving out
Red Robin: We’re coming Dolores!
[Line goes dead]
Batman: …[stares unseeingly at the sky]
Oracle: Aw man, and it was just getting good too.

I can’t believe a humble security guard saved our planet from the aliens.

This is PROBABLY one of those times where they hired a professional dancer to dress up as a security guard for the bit, but I don’t even care because the man SOLD IT

Oh that is SUCH a fun story! So he knew the mascot person IRL but didnt know he was gonna get challenged to a danceoff! XD This guy sounds fabulous!

THIS IS A MAN!

Side Note To Fan Fic Authors

Here’s the thing.

I read a lot of scripts.  A lot.  From professionals to aspiring writers to complete newbies.  Features and pilots.  Specs and treatments.

And 8 times out of 10 the fan fic that I’ve read over the last, oh, 15 years is leagues better than this stuff.  It’s more inspired.  It’s more compelling.  It’s genre bending and creative and heartfelt.  It’s well-paced and intense and funny and sexy and meaningful.  It’s smart and thoughtful and good.  It’s novel-quality.  Better than, sometimes.

Rare is the script I don’t want to put down, but how often have we stayed up until 3am to get to the last chapter of a 100k fic? And it’s not even a fan fic author’s day job.  This is what they do on the side.  In their spare time.  For free.

So my point is, fan fic authors, you’re good.  You’re good writers and great storytellers.  I know it doesn’t always feel like it, especially if you’re one of the authors who’s not a BNF and doesn’t get the notes/hits that a few do.  And  because some people still view fic as “not real writing.” You guys know the shit that gets made into movies.  You’re better than that.  So be better than that.  If writing is what you think want to do, then just know you’re already doing it.   You’ve already started.

And you’re more talented than you might think.
