i come directly at your OG neck.

i logged in for the first time since 2015.

happy retrograde to me?

friendly reminder:

if you are able to safely discuss someone's hurtful behavior with them in a direct manner, you should. it suggests that you give a shit about them. it minimizes confusion and hurt feelings. it comes across like the behavior of an adult who wants their loved one to be okay. don't waste your time or energy subbing them. it's sloppy and childish.

the empath’s toolkit: blissful living for sensitive people

designed for anyone that feels “too sensitive” or overwhelmed by empathy / empathic knowing, this book details tools and techniques that will help you move from fear to empowerment.

empathy is a powerful, necessary gift: it enables humanity to witness the worst of itself, then transform that imbalance using love and compassion. but like any talent, it requires work to develop into its full potential.

[Description: a brown boi with red bowtie & cane possess next to a colorful mama Kusama painting looking up to text: "6 days left to meet fundraising goal!! Bit.ly/KaysTopSurgery "] Hey folks, #Trans #poet #artist @brownroundboi is at the final stretch of his fundraiser for their gender affirmation / top surgery. Let's make this journey possible for him. $5, $10, $20 whatever you can!! Support #qtpoc family! Donate now at: bit.ly/KaysTopSurgery #interdependence #kstopsurgery

Hey y'all! Thank you so much for boosting my recent call for help. And thank you so so much to those who have already donated. I really appreciate it. I have been able to find a place for me and Noreen to stay until my lease ends. But I am still needing support getting to safe home and basic survival needs. I have to pay rent for two places this month and there a bunch of moving fees and utility deposit that I have to cover. On top of that, I am trying to find ways to continue to pay for electrolysis, which is a life saving procedure for me. Please signal boost this and donate what you can.

my girlfriend and i are being attacked and harassed by our white neighbor daily. we have ten days left before we can move into our new home but can’t return to our apartment right now because of the threatening behavior of our neighbor who continues to bang on our door, yell at us, damage our car, etc without provocation. can someone send money to help us stay in motels till we can leave? PayPal is Morgan.collado@gmail.com. and boost to folx in austin with spare rooms. please help

SIGNAL BOOST!

1. Fist: Make a fist around the epi-pen, don’t place your thumb/fingers over either end

2. Flick the blue cap off

3. Fire. Press down into the outer thigh (the big muscle in there), hold for 10 seconds before removing (the orange cap will cover the needle). Bare skin is best but the epi-pen will go through clothing. Avoid pockets and seams.

- Ring an ambulance even if everything seems to be fine!

Oh my god. So as someone who has to carry an epipen EVERYWHERE I am so happy to see that there’s an info post about them. Like in the extreme case that I can’t inject myself, somebody else would have to do it, but nobody knows how to do it! Thank you, this may just save my life some day.

Don’t be wimpy about it, either. I know friends who are like, “but idk if I could stab you with a needle!” Please stab me with the needle, don’t be hesitant about it.

In my case (I can’t speak for all allergies), an epi buys me 20 minutes of breathing to get to the hospital. It is not a magic bullet, it’s a few critical minutes to help get me where I need to go.

For those who don’t know, people with serious food allergies carry epinephrine which is an adrenaline shot just in case they have anaphylaxis, which is a life threatening allergic attack. This shot is life-saving and must be administered to someone who is having an anaphylactic attack as SOON AS POSSIBLE, because an extra waited minute could mean their life.

It doesn’t hurt much at all to use this needle. The first time I used mine, I didn’t even feel it. But be sure to stab it IN THE OUTER THIGH. Do not stick it anywhere else or you could seriously hurt or kill someone. Just right to the outside of the thigh and then call the ambulance - even if your friend starts doing better, they could have a biphasic reaction, meaning a reaction that comes back (or they may need a second dose, be on the look out). If your friend has an epipen, then they have an epipen trainer that doesn’t have a needle and you can try it out just to be sure you know how to use the real thing if you have to. I’d also advise holding it a few more seconds then 10, maybe go for 14 just to be sure all the medicine is administered and that you didn’t count too fast - that’s what I did.

Here’s a graphic of where to stick it:

THANK YOU FOR THE GRAPHIC I was about to ask because my mom carries one around and so do some of my friends and I wanted to make sure I would do it right if I ever needed to!

Learn about this or get a refresher, if you’re not already familiar.

so apparently there’s this indo-caribbean british prof who is going around calling herself “politically black” and taking up a lot of intellectual space talking about black feminism? black british women on twitter are mad. her name is heidi or something. never known a west indian named heidi. hm. weird.

i wonder what people on here think of her if you’re on twitter as well…

heidi zafia (sp?). she pretty much has written most of the book on Black feminism in the UK lol. ive tried to read her books but it makes me want to spit

she justifies it by saying she grew up around Black people and when Black people do bring up why political Blackness is horrible it get defended with well what about all the good things it done or people start implying they’ve done more for Blacks than your actual Black self has.

Im actually surprised people are being openly annoyed because historically it gets swept away like Black has ever meant anything but Black in the UK

Blackness is simple to most including Black people that defend this which is why this can exist but you’re not gonna find loads of Black women at Asian women centres cause we understand boundaries and intra community issues. They have complex issues not us and saying you have issues with political Blackness always get manipulated into not being down for anti-oppression and or women of colour. its funny when they say women of colour then claim we dont have a word to rally women of colour around lol

its funny thats its mainly south asian women that call them selves this cause they really dont like us

when the word was coined Black people did protest its use but they were guilt tripped into submission about the greater good etc

Wow I’ve seen some of the stuff you have blogged about it in the past but I didn’t realize quite how deep some people have taken it like writing books on black feminism like you’ve experienced being a black woman…

It’s just bizarre how entitled some people feel to call themselves black… While hating black people. But from what I’ve seen recently on Twitter, British Twitter has had enough. They’ve been dragging her for days and it’s very interesting to see who is defending her and who isn’t.

i feel so energised by the fact this has been going on for days cause im sick or trying to find out stuff about Black british people than readying about how their Bangladeshi parents became “Black” lol

I just wanna know about all the untold stuff i know Black people in this country have been working hard at but i cant even find it half the time and its shame cause so many think nothing happened and the little i do know i know loads of things were done

not surprising that she teaches at goldsmiths… lol idk goldsmiths comes across as a fake progressive uni to me.

but a good book about Black British feminism that is actually by a Black woman is Julia Oparah’s book ‘Other Kinds of Dreams: Black Women’s Organizations and the Politics of Transformation

Heidi Safia Mirza is her name. In a situation where she was clearly unable to self reflect, she publicly criticized Rachel Dolezal, talking about she’s a fraud for claiming to be Black, taking Black women’s identities and taking up Black space. I was like, ma’am, you are Rachel Dolezal.

These “politically Black” people are delusional trash. I will never entertain any of them. When I hear “politically Black” or if I see anyone cosigning it, I know it’s my time to bounce.

“Politically Black”. Thunda fire you.

There’s one in Nigeria too. Her name is Chitra. I don’t know if you’ve heard of her. She is Indian, but also a black feminist. Lol.

??? How can you be a non black person but claim to be politically black?

Lol! I wonder. She’s there on Twitter with ‘black feminist’ written in her bio. It’s funny because nobody has challenged her yet.

Everybody gets to be Black, even when you’re not.

Being politically Black sounds like you want to be praised for saying shit Black people been saying but you don’t want to suffer the way they do.

^^^^^^

To everyone suffering today

I am so sorry that eating disorders don’t take a break for the holidays.

I am so sorry that depression doesn’t take a break for the holidays.

I am so sorry that no mental illnesses take a break for the holidays and you have to suffer today.

Please take care of yourself today. I’m rooting for you.

i keep seeing that picture of the American flag hijabi circulating as “omg so amazing” i got feelings……

it’s bad enough in times like these the performance of patriotism & extolling of nationalist rhetoric by Muslim Americans gets turned up, oftentimes in ways that are reactionary out of fear (which is understandable)

but i don’t find it revolutionary or amazing or empowering or badass that someone who founded the Republican Muslim coalition would wear a hijab flag

if the non-muslim American majority had a more nuanced understanding of Muslim American women in the public political sphere they’d understand how anti-revolutionary it actually is. and how common folks like saba ahmed actually are

if more folks didn’t see hijabis through an epically orientalist lens they’d come to understand not all hijabis are down for liberation

they’d find there are plenty of Muslim Americans who buy into the nationalist/patriotic rhetoric & politics that fuel islamophobia

they’d find there are Muslim Americans more interested in securing their safety net within the status quo then they are liberation from it

bottom line, i need non-muslims who are labelling this as “revolutionary” to evaluate the gaze by which they look at hijabis/veiled women

cause the reactions say a lot about how the relationship between political, religious, & ethnic identities of Muslim women are perceived
