Heya I've been drawing for a few years now but I'm still learning every day and I'm more than aware of the skill gap between me and others which is fine I am willing to work hard and improve. You and your art is a really big inspiration to me and I hope to reach your level someday. Can't help however but be really demotivated and easily affected by the difference between me and others and I know I shouldn't compare myself with people who have been drawing for wayyy longer than I have. What was your experience while improving your art? Any words of wisdom from the bird? I love drawing and I don't want to lose this kind of connection to it but most of the hours I spend practising are driven by spite and hatred over my own self aaaagh is this too personal lol thank god for the anonymous option lol I LOVE YOUR ART, I look at everything your passion for art overflows through your work.

Hey, pal! It's nothing to fret over, and I'm glad you feel comfortable sharing this! I think getting all your thoughts out this way is already good way to start, and I hope that alone was able to let off some steam on the subject.

I absolutely know how this feels, and it's still something that crops up for me time to time, too! It's gotten easier to manage over the years, but there's certainly times where it's taken the wind outta my sails and sunk my energy to be creative.

I think when you're wrapped up in that headspace, the best thing to do is stop the struggle and don't try to force progress. Don't even allow yourself to problem solve, or ask anything from yourself when that cloud's over your head. There have been plenty of times where I just end up making myself feel worse by simply asking "why do I like to create in the first place?" because I'll come up with overly critical answers "well, it's the only thing I'm good at"

Hi!! I hope you're having a great day/night/afternoon!! I used to watch your OC videos all the time when I was younger!! Glad to see you uploading on YouTube again, and I loved your Kai video!! I was wondering if you have any tips (or tricks) for character ref sheets, as I'm currently developing one for an OC of mine! I already have a backstory, a color palette, as well as references, but I'm not sure how to go from there. The character themself (as in like body size), clothing designs, accessories, the placement of everything on the ref sheet? You, of course, don't have to reply to this, but any comments would help!!

Hi! Thanks so much for watching my videos! I think this is a fantastic question. I love making character sheets, and I'd do them a lot more often if they weren't so time consuming. (Though, they don't have to be -- I think its a me problem lol!) But they're SUPER handy both for whoever you may commission to draw them, and yourself if said character has a detail heavy design. Even if this character sheet is just for you, I think it's fun to look at it from the perspective of a hypothetical someone who desires to cosplay (or draw or 3D model) your character and needs a sheet in which to ref from! What things do you think they'd need? I absolutely recommend making a few notes of what you want to spotlight, and doing some thumbnails on how you want to section things out. (they don't have to be this neat, like, AT ALL lmao)

What angles would be helpful to see? What particular accessories would someone value a closer a closer look at?

I hope you don't mind if I publish this one! Might be good to have on file. I actually rarely stick to a standard guide, but having one on hand like this is a good reference point! So thank you for prompting me to make one. The first three colors are Skin - Hair - Eyes, while the remaining make up clothing. - one thing of note! For Kai, when he's using magic, I'll usually add slight detailing of blue in his right eye, and green in the left.

I work in PaintTool Sai 2, as a heads up! There’s some custom textures here that I must have gotten a while ago, I think, so I unfortunately don’t remember what comes with the base sai 2, and what I’ve received separate. (I’ve been using these for a WHILE, now) - 8 times out of 10, I’ll use that first rough pencil-looking brush for pretty much everything. Even to digitally render most of my illustrations for added texture combined with the default airbrush tool to soften parts up. - The middle two get much less use, but are helpful when combined together! I fiddle with the settings of these two the most depending on what I’m using them for. - The basic brush is just that! I’ll sometimes switch out the form, but it’s essentially just the default brush tool, tweaked to my liking. I pair it with the smudge tool very often.

Kassian: “Aren’t you able to lick some moss and navigate the forest that way, or something?”

Mattheus: “Yeah, that’s how that works.”

Kassian: [unnecessarily menacing] “I’m going to find some moss.” -- Two Dumb Stupid Teenagers Lost in a Dumb Stupid Forest, (2022) Fun fact: Mattheus is meant to be wearing parts of his dads old training armor, and Kassian’s is supposed to be reminiscent of his old outfit’s design. Both temporary hand-me-downs. Kass will take any opportunity to complain about the pauldrons.

Hey! Very glad you've returned! I read your answer to the ask about creating characters and I was wondering if you could perhaps share your document of character traits/anesthetics pretty please? Or maybe just screenshots?

i just wanted to say that i've loved your channel & art for years and they were pivotal in making me try to learn art!! i'm really glad to see you returning in some capacity. i'd also like to say that kassian and mattheus have been on my mind 24/7 for years too so thank u for the brainrot!! take care of yourself <3

This so sweet and so kind, I'm so happy that things I make with my stubby little hands can bring anyone some sort of motivation to create more, themselves.

I'm glad to be returning too! the end of 2022 has brought a lot of stabilization irl, so I'd really like for 2023 feel like a return to how things used to be a few years back.

Also I'm so absurdly happy to hear M/K gives you brainrot, that's like the Highest praise I could recieve.
