I mean or maybe she genuinely wants the music to be appreciated for the music it is not a referendum on a guy. I think she’s being completely honest about not wanting to be defended online and is strongly against flooding comments and bullying people and would prefer her fans to conduct themselves more maturely online, like she said, with the kindness she sees at the shows. especially considering she herself has been on the other side of receiving internet hate
Red tv was awesome and fun with atw10 and the movie but at the same time it was really reductive how so much of it became a just conversation about Jake and I think, aside from other reasons, Taylor would prefer people including fans to discuss her music, both her rereleases and her new music, because they love the lyrics or melody, because they relate to it, because they find it creative, because they love the wordplay and imagery, and not because they want to drag some person they think it’s about, or dissect it and match it up to her life, or figure out some intimate or private details to cache as ammo for later, because that is exactly the type of behavior she has talked about being super difficult for her for over a decade (see reputation prologue)
