Hey, spoilers about BNHA Chapter 300 & beyond.

Y'all really gonna get up in arms about Dabi now? You realize that he's been like this the entire time, right? That the idealized fanon version of him was never like canon, right?

Touya Todoroki is not a good guy. He's not a vigilante like so many tried to write him out to be. He wants to kill his father and Shotō. He tried to kill Shotō when he was a baby.

He's not charming. He's not suave. He's not a secret hero. He was abused as a child and was given this wicked inferiority complex that screams Cain and Abel. He's never been your uwu edgy scawwy boyfwen.

He's getting some amazing character development right now. We're finally seeing how the Todoroki family fell apart- what caused Rei to become so traumatized, why Fuyumi and Natsuo turned away from becoming pro-heroes. We're seeing that Rei and Enji were on the same page in the beginning, and that Rei wanted more children. That Enji actually did care for Touya, but when Shotō was born- it all went down the drain. Hell, with each kid that was born after Touya, he grew more and more unhinged- because Enji had poured so much into him before backing away so suddenly.

Touya Todoroki is a tragic, flawed character. He is not good. He will not be good. He is unstable in every meaning of the word. And to be able to write a character so deeply flawed and make people love him despite him being a villain is amazing.

But your fanon version is not canon. It will never be canon. And getting angry because canon is veering from your fanon version is both hilarious and sad. Horikoshi has had this planned out for so long. He doesn't care about your fanon.

This is just the Hawks situation all over again.

Fanon does not, and never will, equal canon.
