God this video is a relief in every way EXCEPT that I PERSONALLY don’t think we needed to do that to girl dinner. I think because women are stereotypically the ones who cook, something about “girl dinner because yes I live like this” is relieving and fun.
Which is interesting because it DOES exist at an intersection with “girl math” but the thing is that girl dinner is funny and the rest of it sucks. ….Which isn’t arbitrary it’s bc girl dinner isssss gendered but does that to be gender defying and gets a pass for the point it’s making. You know you know. I feel like this isn’t as complicated as I’m making it sound

in my mind veronica and katy keene are the kinda friends who only see each other 3 or 4 times a year but they’re always texting back and forth and on each other’s socials so one day post-season 5 they’re having a girls’ chitchat and veronica is filling katy in on all her archie & reggie relationship drama and goes “but enough about me, how’s your dating life?” and katy’s like “well… i haven’t told anyone about this yet, but i recently started seeing this new guy. he’s older, divorced, but not a mr. big type, more rugged and working class. he wears a leather jacket and rides a motorcycle, every bad boy cliche in the book. i like him a lot and we have fun together but i don’t see us getting serious or anything because he has an ex-wife and two kids” and veronica’s like “girl he sounds hot, send me a pic of your darling new dilf” and so katy does and veronica is like oh no fucking way…

riverdale is the most of all time
i will never understand the talking point of “the writers don’t even care about the audience anymore” towards shows like riverdale. if you cannot piecemeal joy from the technicolour hallucination of a vengeful homosexual (ras) playing dolls with a nearly 100 year old IP then what are we even doing here?
being good prevails. being horny prevails. these two things are never meaningfully disentangled.

he doesn’t have a good moment to rewatch… so his good moments are reggie/archie…… wow.
i think viewing riverdale s7e19 as wholesome retconning is shortsighted. being good and being gay does not mean the horrors cease. gay kevin just saw his dad getting rawdogged by gay archie’s gay uncle. the horrors exist outside of magic and the surreal. they are grounded in reality much like our own. but they are good and they are horny and they saw that joy was possible even when the end was inevitable. that being said if next week’s episode reveals that archie stopped 9/11 or something then we can circle back to this post.
