hey im coyote this is a sideblog where i liveblog mad men the tv show and share Observations (rewatching s3)

balding old dudes whenever Don delivers a perfect ad pitch for their newest company product:

in retrospect… season 7 was kinda a mess… it had interesting things going on for it (like the whole concept of death of the “traditional” advertising because of Evil Computers and Big Capitalism) and the concept of don being severely demoted was fun too but it came WAY, WAY, WAY too late in the show, don being demoted and working under peggy should have had its own season in my opinion, that would have been so much fun. and then don and the waitress is such a poor plot , icb that matthew weiner thought he had to sit us, the audience, down and go ‘look at this. don is chasing after women who remind him of his mother and sometimes those women can be just as broken as he is, if not more’. like. sir. we’ve known this. for ages. this is season one shit, not season SEVEN.

and don’s little pitiful roadtrip was probably supposed to be cathartic for the viewer but i dont think it inspired much of emotional response ?? lets be real, the only two emotional punches from season 7 came from betty and peggy who carried it on their backs

ok I was looking for this post bc I was thinking about it again LIKE IM SO MAD that ‘Don working UNDER Peggy’ storyline lasted only for five minutes . It should have been a whole season. Forever mad about this I want that freak emasculated NOW

I gotta say I’m thinking about the beginning because Betty just has SO MANY iconic scenes in seasons 1-3 like she’s always popping off but to me the first few seasons are just peak Betty . When she slaps Helen in a grocery store … the pigeons …. When she traumadumps on a literal child… when the horse guy tells her she looks sad and she’s like ‘no that’s just my Scandinavian roots.’ … THE CLOWN DRESS ….. when Don is like ‘please take me back’ and she’s like ‘to be honest it’s not that much different without you. bitch’ … good lird I could go on

this is in relation to this gifset i just saw but I'm like remembering that scene in season 6 (i think???) when don pitches that ad with the beach and the shoes and everyone's telling him 'bro this reads like a pro-suicide ad' and he was genuinely so FLABBERGASTED one of the few genuine emotional reactions he's ever shown like he didn't see it at all well bro death follows you everywhere you go. fcuker.

anyways i also need to ask: does anyone know where i can track this silly little making of documentary for mad men, it was released in 2007 and is 30 minutes long.. its probably a DVD feature for season 1... has anyone seen it online? I NEEED to log it on letterboxd i neeeeed to see it
