Domo in Japan

@domoinjapan / domoinjapan.tumblr.com

My tomfoolery and hijinks in Japan as told through photography and bad jokes.

OKAY SO i didnt expect that video of the seals to blow up but i want to give credit where credit is due!

its from the Tokkari Center in Monbetsu, Hokkaido where they rescue seals who were abandoned as pups, harmed by boats, etc and care for them with the intent for releasing them back into the Okhotsk Sea! all of the seals in the video are female and the trainer is waving her hand giving the “bye bye” cue which is to “wave” goodbye :)

if you want to check out more awesome seal action please look up @aguhiyori on twitter!! i love them theyre at the nearby Azarashi Sea Paradise and theyre home to two seals Agu (male, 29) and Hiyori (female, 3) who are basically like ambassadors for how awesome seals can be because they know lots of neat tricks! Agu is also famous because a picture of him holding a seal stuffed animal went viral a while back! Check them out!
