How do I use social features in the app?

To send Fan Mail or ask a question, press the envelope icon while viewing any blog. If the user hasn’t enabled Asks or you haven’t been following them for more than 24 hours, the icon won’t be there.

Can I change my blog's appearance through the app?

How do I access my post options?

  1. Press the gear icon or swipe horizontally while making a post.
  2. From here you can choose which blog to post to, share the post on Twitter and Facebook, add to your queue, or save as a draft.

How do I fast reblog?

Press and hold the reblog icon on any post to reblog it in a single step. The status indicator will disappear once the reblog is complete.

Can I share or download photos?

Sure. Press and hold any photo on your Dashboard to download it to your phone, or share it on a different app.

How do I log out?

Well, if you must, visit the Account screen and press “Settings.” Scroll to the bottom and press “Logout.”

How do I switch from mobile view to desktop view in my mobile browser?

Aw, no app? No problem. You can request a desktop version of the site using your web browser's settings. For Chrome, tap the 3 dots menu and choose "Request Desktop Site." For Safari, tap in the address bar and pull down on the resulting bookmarks menu to reveal "Request Desktop Site." Additionally, you can download and use our mobile app.


Push Notifications

What are push notifications?

Push notifications are a great way to keep up with the activity on your blog(s). Find out when someone likes or reblogs one of your posts, as well as when someone starts following you.

Can I choose who I receive notifications from?

Of course! You can even configure notifications for each of your blogs separately. Here's how:

  1. Open Tumblr on your device.
  2. Go to the Account tab.
  3. Tap "Settings."
  4. Tap "Notes on your posts."
  5. Choose one of your blogs.
  6. Update your preference.

Why don't I receive push notifications for group blogs that I'm a member of?

You can only receive notifications for blogs on which you're an admin.

How do I turn off push notifications on all my devices?

  1. Open Tumblr on your device.
  2. Go to the Account tab.
  3. Tap "Notes on your posts."
  4. Switch the Notifications toggle from On to Off.

How do I turn off push notifications on a specific Android device?

Simply hide Tumblr notifications in your device settings.

  1. Open Settings on your device.
  2. Tap "Apps."
  3. Tap "Tumblr."
  4. Uncheck the "Show Notifications" box.


Sticky Settings

These features remember the last setting you used, and continue to use that setting unless you change it.

Asks: When replying to questions, you can reply privately instead of posting the answer to your blog. Future replies will stay private until you update your preferences and switch to public, and vice versa.

Posting: Once you post to a blog, all future posts will post to that blog until you switch via the top bar when selecting a post type. So yeah, be sure to select the right blog before pressing “Post."

What if I’m having trouble with the app?

If the app is slow or behaving badly, try the following:

  • Log out and log back in.
  • Switch from mobile data to wifi.
  • Visit the apps area of your device settings and clear the cache and data for Tumblr.
  • Remove and reinstall the app.
  • Check your phone storage. Is it full? If so, consider deleting all your non-Tumblr apps.
