Hey. Why isn’t the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isn’t that fucked up? Does anyone else think that’s absurd?
It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!
It’s July 20th. That’s the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. I’m ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and I’m going to have a goddamn potluck. You’re all invited.

okay, I take it back. I don’t think everyone is doing this deliberately. some of it is so deeply entrenched in tumblr culture that you probably don’t always notice you’re doing it

nobody really explores meryl's ptsd. i mean, there are some fics about it but they're mostly one-shots.
there was a whole 7 months that she was away from vash and wolfwood and then the world started to fall apart. i think her perspective as somebody on the outside (but still inside) is just as interesting; she only halfway knows what’s going on through the magnitude of vash's traumatic memories alone.
she doesn't know if she will ever see the boys again. she maybe knows or doesn’t know how her reaction affected vash’s self image. how would that compound with the suffering she’s already experiencing? she obviously cares about vash, but there is nothing like being backhanded with not only otherworldly terror, but every emotion vash had ever felt while being brutalized by life in an instance outside of time.
despite this, the iron lady still tries to help the boys through getting things done. she meets up with people who consider vash to be family. she makes connections. she tells luida vash’s story with her eyes so heavy but hollow. there’s a whole story there.
there’s milly to be her rock. there’s milly to be her best friend (or lover, follow ur dreams). there’s milly’s perspective, as well… her manga self does not share her anime personality.
i personally don’t really like missing scene fics but nobody has touched this. this isn’t so much a missing scene as a whole missing arc tbh.
